Making Jesus Lord of Your Life

Making Jesus Lord of Your Life

If you are reading this booklet than chances are you either recently asked Jesus into
your heart or you know someone who did and you would like some information about how
to make Jesus the Lord of your Life. In Matthew 7: 21 Jesus said, "Not every one that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of
my Father which is in heaven." 1 Corinthians 12: 3 states, "that no man can say that Jesus
is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." To make Jesus Lord of your life, the first step is to pray
to God for forgiveness and to invite Jesus to come into your heart. The following is an
example of a prayer you can pray out of the sincerity of your heart. Dear Jesus, please
come into my heart and forgive me of all of my sins. Wash me clean and make me pure
again. I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary for my sins
and that He was buried in a tomb and on the third day He rose again. I believe that He
is my advocate and my mediator to God the Father and that because He gave His life as
a payment for my sin I am now saved, set free and delivered. I pray Father God that you
will send the Holy Spirit to fill me now and to give me power to be a witness for you. In
Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

The second step in make Jesus Lord, is to be instructed in the word of God. It is
important that if you just prayed this prayer and asked Jesus Christ into your heart, that you
tell someone and that you get connected with a good Bible believing church. They will
help disciple you in your newfound faith. You will be able to fellowship with other
Christians and receive Biblical teachings on a regular basis.

There are two other things that are essential in your daily walk with the Lord. The
first one is having a personal, daily devotional time where you read the Word of God for
yourself and you seek Him in prayer for answers to Life's questions. This is also a time to
just praise and worship the Lord. The scripture says in Psalms 22:3 that God inhabits the
praises of His people. When you pray to God and worship Him, then you have a right to
expect Him to hear your prayer and to answer you. Prayer is not supposed to be a
monologue but rather a conversation with our Heavenly Father.

Secondly, ever since the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came and endued
the disciples with the power of God, we also have a right to ask receive this blessing for
ourselves. Acts 2:39-40 says that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is promised to each
believer who repents and is baptized in water as a confession of their faith in Jesus Christ.
So, as a believer in Jesus, you have the right to invite the Holy Spirit to take total control
of your heart mind and spirit.

In Acts, when the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit, they spoke in other
languages, also known as speaking in tongues, and some of them prophesied. Although
there seems to be confusion in some denominations concerning tongues, almost everyone
agrees that when the Holy Spirit manifests Himself to a believer, it is a wonderful life
changing experience, and that He blesses each of us with some of the nine Gifts of the
Spirit, in order that the whole church can benefit and be blessed by our obedience to Him.

Thank you for writing and expressing a desire to know more about living a life
pleasing to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you!
