2025 Annual Report for Anderson Ranch Arts Center.

PORT 202

2 Annual Report2025Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s mission is to foster transformative educational experiences and community, embracing traditional and contemporary art making on our vibrant Rocky Mountain campus.

3DEAR FRIENDS OF THE RANCH,2025 was another exciting year of art-making, dialogue, and meaningful celebration of our creative community.Anderson Ranch continues to thrive because of our commitment to artistic rigor, community building, and inclusivity. We attract artists from around the world, spanning those at the top of their careers, like our International Artists Honoree Titus Kaphar, to college and graduate students who have heard about the Ranch from their mentors and educators, to children and teens just discovering their creative voices. This year, we welcomed artists for their first visit, for their tenth year in a row, and one returning after a 40-year hiatus. We are deeply grateful to Rona Citrin, whose passionate leadership as Chair of the Board of Trustees has left a lasting mark on Anderson Ranch. Her dedication spans more than fifteen years and has been transformational in advancing our mission. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we enjoyed a strong year driven by record attendance and community engagement. It is a reminder that the Ranch is only as strong as the people who sustain it and we are profoundly appreciative of each person who plays a part in this vibrant community. We hope to see you soon,Peter WaandersPresident and Chief Executive OfficerLETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

4 Annual Report2025CLARISSE PERRETTE SCHOLARSHIPAn endowed scholarship fund was established in memory of lifelong artist Clarisse Perrette. Generously seeded by her dear friends Theodore Spencer and Tracy Toon Spencer, the fund provides annual scholarships for students enrolled in our paint workshops—classes in which Clarisse herself honed her artistic practice. This enduring gift honors Clarisse’s deep connection to the Ranch and ensures continued access to our world-class painting and drawing faculty and studios for generations to come. To provide additional support to this endowment, please contact Gretchen Cole, Director of Development at [email protected] WINDFALL FOUNDATION GRANTThe Lifchez-Stronach Windfall Foundation, created by the brother of Evelyn Siegal, provided a generous grant benefiting our growing children’s and youth community outreach programs. This contribution helps keep the transformative power of art accessible to the children and youth who need it most, supporting school field trips, after-school programming, mentorship, Latine education workshops, visiting artists and events, as well as scholarships and community partnerships. Together, these efforts ensure that essential arts programs remain accessible to children and families across our diverse valley community.Faculty artist Daphne Arthur guides a student in the Innovative Approaches to Figurative Painting workshop.FEATURED GIFTS

34 Annual Report2025CHARLES (CHARLEY) COOK, JR.For 30 years, Charley Moss and his wife, Ann Cook, have been integral supporters of the Ranch community as sponsors of our Summer Series: Featured Artists and Conversations, longtime National Council members, and devoted Ranch Gala attendees. Charley could be found at many Ranch events, greeting friends with a warm smile. Together, their generosity and enthusiasm for supporting the arts have left a lasting imprint across the Ranch and the broader arts community. As we honor Charles’s legacy, we are grateful for Ann’s continued commitment and meaningful presence within the Ranch community.DAVID ELLSWORTHFor five decades, David Ellsworth shared his extraordinary artistic talent and warm spirit with Anderson Ranch. A virtuoso woodturner, he helped launch and shape the Ranch’s woodworking program, leaving a lasting mark on its growth and evolution. David taught more than 50 workshops dating back to the 1970s as faculty and also participated as a visiting artist, pursuing his own craftsmanship in the studios. His work was not only technically brilliant, but his mentorship and generosity of knowledge transformed the lives of countless artists. Beyond the studio, David often donated artwork to support the Ranch, contributing meaningfully to our programs. With his gentle presence and deep love of people, art, and the mountains, David embodied the heart and soul of the Ranch. From his artistic brilliance to his mentorship and generosity, his contributions remain a cornerstone of the Ranch’s history and spirit.BARBARA GOLDA National Council member for over a decade, Barbara was involved with the Ranch for 25 years. Alongside her husband, John, she was deeply engaged in the broader Aspen community, contributing to local organizations and leaving a meaningful impact beyond the Ranch. Barbara generously supported our Ranch Gala and annual art auctions and attended artist talks, making her presence felt across our programs and events.LEONARD LAUDERLeonard was a devoted arts advocate and philanthropist whose generosity and vision supported Anderson Ranch for more than 25 years. A steadfast believer in the power of the arts, he helped ensure that creativity and artistic exploration remained accessible. His support spanned the Ranch Gala, Annual Art Auction, and National Council, as well as countless programs and initiatives that benefited the Ranch and its artists. Former Anderson Ranch Director Jim Baker reflected, “Leonard was one of the most inspiring individuals I’ve met… especially in how he contributed to the success of others.” Leonard’s passion for the arts continues to guide and enrich the Ranch today.MARK ORENFor more than twenty-five years, Mark Oren and his wife, Nedra, were devoted members of the Ranch community. Loyal National Council members and enthusiastic supporters of the Annual Art Auction and Ranch Gala, Mark and Nedra were constant participants in the life of the Ranch. Their shared commitment to the arts extended throughout the Aspen community, including involvement with the Aspen Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. Mark’s steady support and warm presence will be greatly missed. In her memory, an endowed scholarship fund has been established to support future students in painting and drawing, ensuring that Clarisse’s legacy of generosity and passion for the arts continues to inspire.KELLI QUESTROMFor more than two decades, Kelli Questrom and her husband, Allen, were dedicated members of the Ranch community. As longtime National Council members, they generously sponsored the Summer Series: Featured Artists and Conversations Series and were steadfast supporters of the Ranch Gala. In 2016, Kelli and Allen co-chaired the Ranch’s 50th Anniversary Celebration & Recognition Dinner honoring Eleanore and Domenico De Sole, helping to mark a defining milestone in the organization’s history with their leadership and generosity. 36 Annual Report2025NANA TAKANO WORKSHOP STUDENTOne thing I learned is love for community. I truly felt warm support from my other classmates and realized how important it is to have this special environment to be a stronger artist.ALEXANDRIA MARTINEZ WORKSHOP STUDENTAs a teacher and artist I was able to learn from master ceramists about decorating 3D form. The confidence I gained in my technical abilities and creativity will fuel me for years to come.PARENT OF CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTMy daughter came home almost every day excited about new friends she met—some with limited verbal skills, others who spoke different languages. She shared how they laughed, played, and created art together in so many ways. Anderson Ranch is truly unique—a space where art becomes our common language, where every voice is valued, regardless of volume or language, and respect runs deep. These connections reflect the Ranch’s true commitment to diversity and inclusion. I hold dear the experiences my child shared and look forward to returning. KAYLEE GARTINOWORKSHOP STUDENTParticipating in this program has given me the opportunity to network with artists from all over the world. I’ve met a couple of people who are interested in purchasing work from me! I believe attending this program has put me on a path of greatness. I am beyond grateful for this experience! It has pushed my practice in ways I did not expect. From the instructor, Lyle, to the peers in the class - I feel beyond enriched.SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTThis scholarship was everything. Without it I would have never been able to afford to come here at all. I wanted to explore my love for print making and now I see it as something I would like to pursue as a career.TESTIMONIALS

37Anderson Ranch acknowledges that our campus resides on the traditional, ancestral territory of the Ute people, who called the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond home for over 800 years. Through our mission to promote a wide range of arts, cultures, and voices, we commit to partner with and honor the indigenous ancestors and residents of this sacred land where we learn, work, and create.
