d. What
is
the
market
(area)
for

b. Why
is
this

you?
Why
did
you

7. List
three
STRENGTHS
(skills,
knowledge
and
personal
qualities)
that
you
currently
possess
that
can
help
you
be
successful
in
this
position.
Describe
why
these
are
strengths
to
this
position.
• The
three
strengths
that
I
have
are
technological,
communication,
and
organizational
skills.
I
believe
that
technological
skills
are
important
to
my
career
because
I
have
to
keep
up
to
date
with
new
technological
features
and
be
quick
at
adapting
to
them
in
order
to
become
successful.
Also,
communication
is
key
to
business
because
it
is
important
to
talk
to
vendors,
your
boss,
and
people
in
general.
Therefore,
I
believe
to
be
a
social
person
and
enjoy
interacting
with
people
and
learning
new
things
about
them
as
well
as
helping
them
with
anything.
Lastly,
organizational
skills
are
important
because
every
job
wants
a
neat
and
well-‐
prepared
person
to
represent
their
business/organization,
therefore
I
believe
to
be
organized,
responsible,
and
prepared
when
it
comes
to
schoolwork,
and
most
definitely
work.
8. List
three
WEAKNESSES
(personal
traits
that
you
currently
lack)
that
can
hamper
your
success
in
this
position.
Describe
why
these
are
weaknesses
for
this
position
AND
how
you
will
improve
upon
these
weaknesses.
• The
three
weaknesses
that
I
have
are
public
speaking
in
large
crowds,
creativity,
and
writing
clearly.
Public
speaking
is
essential
in
every
business
because
there
might
be
times
where
you
have
to
represent
a
certain
statement
and
have
to
in
front
of
various
people,
therefore
I
need
to
work
on
this
and
not
be
as
nervous
as
I
usually
do.
Creativity
is
also
important
because
sometimes
they
will
ask
you
to
crate
certain
posters,
websites,
or
social
media
ads
to
expand
the
businesses/organization
popularity,
I
lack
in
this
because
I
don’t
believe
to
be
a
creative
person
at
times.
Also,
I
believe
to
sometimes
have
a
messy
handwriting,
therefore
I
will
need
to
work
on
this
because
there
is
a
lot
of
paperwork
to
do
and
things
to
write
for
the
company,
therefore
it
is
important
to
be
a
proficient
copywriter
and
be
able
to
write
grammatically
correct
and
neatly.
10.
Describe
the
interesting
facts
did
you
discover
about
this
career
that
you
did
not
know
before.
(“There
are
none”
is
not
an
acceptable
answer.)

interesting
fact
that
I
found
about
this
career
is
that
357,983 job

positions
requiring
a
business
management
degree.
11.
Describe
how
certain
you
now
are
about
pursuing
a
position
in
this
career.
• I
am
extremely
positive
about
pursuing
a

I

Dear Hiring Manager,
As a Lone Star student I am currently looking for a retail part time job that will allow me
to continue paying for my education and college expenses.
I am eager to work for a dynamic company to gain commission because of my great
selling abilities, Burberry is know to be a luxurious brand that sells exquisite handbags,
shoes, clothing, accessories and fragrances. As a Top seller at Michael Kors with a Unit
Per Transaction (UPT) of 2 or more in every transaction and an Average Dollar Sale
(ADS) of 2.25/2.00, I believe that my skills would make a valuable contribution to
Burberry, especially in the area of selling.
Additionally, I have experience with retail every since I was in high school, and
continuously keep up with luxurious brands such as Chanel, Prada, and Gucci, all in the
same high fashion. I will major in business management and become a Marketing
Manager; this job will allow me to continue flourishing my knowledge, and allow me to
continue gaining more experience and training for my future.
I look forward to hearing from you and possibly meeting with you in person.
Sincerely,
Karin Leiva

Business Management
Business Management is the intended career that I decided to pursue on in order
to become a Marketing Manager. This career is significant to me because I want to
become a worldwide marketing manager in global organizations and increase in
connectedness of business, markets, people and information across cultures. My life and
volunteer experiences have inspired me to engage in this career because I know that I
have the potential to succeed due to my skills, techniques, and responsibilities. After
finishing my DWYA, my results were Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging (ESTJ),
which match the career that I have chosen because the personality description of E being
outgoing, talkative, sociable, S being concrete thinking and practical, T being applying
logical reasoning, seeking to act on the truth of a situation, and J being scheduled
structured, organized, and energized describes the person I am and how I would have to
be to be successful in my career. I have learned many new things that I was not aware of,
for example, depending on which country or state you choose to live in, the salary and
job opportunities will be enormously different. In Texas, there are less job opportunities
for Marketing Management will a less paying rate, but in California there are more job
opportunities with a higher salary. This career research project has allowed me to view
my options and realize how where you live affects your lifestyle and paying rate.
A Business Management degree has specific education, skills, and experiences

required. The minimum education required is a four-year bachelor’s degree and although
there are no certifications or licenses required, I still have to keep up with merchant
technology. Employees seeking a job usually need five years of work-related experience,
on-the-job training, and vocational training in advertising, marketing, promotions or
sales. The skills needed to be successful in this job are to have strong project
management and organization skills, experience in demonstrating strategic thinking,
analyzing data, evaluating competitors, and having excellent interpersonal,
communication skills, with the ability to interact and communicate with management,
client, and vendor audiences. Also being an active listening, learner, decision-maker and
problem solver.
Marketing Managers have many job duties to keep track of in their everyday life.
They are responsible to work with department heads or staff and discuss marketing plans,
budgets and contracts. They must plan promotional contests, coupons, and giveaways, as
well as advertise campaigns in social media, radio, television, and billboards. Also they
must initiate market research studies and analyze their findings to understand customer
and market opportunities for businesses. Develop pricing strategies for products or
services marketed to customers. They must also meet with clients to provide marketing or
technical advice, and direct the hiring of advertising, promotions, and marketing staff.
There are several career opportunities available with a Business Management degree, for
example, becoming a business analyst, financial analyst, accountant, sales manager or
and marketing manager. In this career, I know that I will like associating with people and
learning about different cultures; therefore, I chose to become a Marketing Manager. I am
also aware of the challenges that I will be faced with such as persuading people to buy,

dealing with rude customers, keeping the company stable and continuously growing, as
well as all the stress due to the amount of work I will have piled up.
To become a Marketing Manager and gain a degree in Business Management, I
will be taking all my basics here at Lone Star, gain my associate of arts degree in the field
of business which takes two years, and then transfer to a four-year university. I will be
applying to the University of Houston main campus and apply to the Bauer School of
Business. After I gain my degree, I will find internships or jobs that will allow me to
expand my knowledge in many technological disputes, as well as allow me to become
more familiar with the concept of management and marketing. A job in Marketing
Management is very popular in our society, there are several big employers for this career
and it all depends on where you choose to live, for example, in Houston, Texas the
availability for this career is 420 annual opening jobs for marketing managers, however
in New York there are 520 annual opening jobs and in California 1,150 annual opening
jobs. I will continue to have the motivation and self-determination to continue my future
success and become the person that I intend to be, and continue growing as a Marketing
Manager.
