Definition
A fraction can be defined as the part of a whole.
For eg: When an apple is cut into two equal halves it means each 1 of an

apple is a part of the whole apple.
A fraction is made up of two parts numerator and the denominator.

Types of fractions.
1) Like fractions.
Fractions having same denominators are like fractions.
Eg :85 , 7 , 3 etc

Fractions having different denominators are unlike fractions.

3) Unit fractions.
A fraction having numerator 1 is called a unit fraction.

A fraction whose numerator is less than its denominator is called a proper
fraction.

A fraction whose numerator is greater than or equal to its denominator is called an
