We travelled to the Dark Scar to build relations with the clan. The journey was largely uneventful
- suspiciously so. On the last night of our travels, we were ambushed in our sleep by two
bearded devils and several archers built of wood (possibly golems of some kind?). We dealt
with the threat just before the arrival of a party of Dark Scar orcs, who brought us to the town.
There we met with Karrosh, with whom we are in good standing, and Rimesh, with whom we are
in very poor standing after almost completely destroying his temple of Yurtrus, orc god of death
and disease.
In an attempt to atone for our mistake, we offered to help around town. We spent the first day
farming, helping collect the harvest - it went fine for most of the day, until the evening, when we
noticed tremors in the ground as we unloaded our turnip carts. Several Ankheg, acid-spitting
giant insects, burst from the ground, burying the orcish farmer. We fought them off, Stacy and
Izzy both coming close to death at times, and slew them. We then dug up the poor farmer, who
paid us for our help.
The next day, we met the town alchemist, who asked us to travel to a nearby cave and collect
some rare herbs. We were warned that there was something dangerous slumbering in the cave
that we must be wary of.
We reached the cave, accompanied by a couple orc guards who elected to camp outside the
cave while we collected the herbs. Although the party attempted to stealth through the cave,
Valvère unfortunately kicked a stone into the waters in the middle of the cavern. A voice
appeared in her head, claiming to be an elf trapped deep in the pool, and attempted to take
control of her mind. It then branches out to communicate with the whole party, whereupon we
noticed some suspicious movement - and EYES - in the water. The voice broke down into
uncontrolled sobbing, and Val rushed into the bowels of the cave to try and grab the herbs as
quickly as possible. She collected two plants before being jumped from the water by an Aboleth.
Fortunately, it did not strike her - unfortunately, it managed to take control of Stacy, who began
to swim towards the pit in the reservoir where the crying was coming from. The aboleth swam
towards the others and attacked them. While the main party bravely assaulted the monster, Val
performed a risky maneuver to see what was at the bottom of the whirlpool/pit. There was,
indeed, an elven child, 50 feet down. She returned to shore.
Meanwhile, Stacy reached the edge of the pit, and plunged straight down it, injuring herself
greatly with the fall. The aboleth, seeing this and considering the grave injuries it had suffered,
laughed cruelly and followed her down.
Resourcefully, Eris and Izzy used their rope anchored to Eris’ Immovable Rod to create a rope
which they tied to Valvere - but not before the boy elf scrambled up the rope and sprinted to the
mouth of the cave. Val attempted to stop him with Hold Person, but to no effect. She dropped
down the pit, grabbed Stacy, and was pulled out by the rope almost single-handedly by the
surprisingly muscular Hayama. They swam to the shore, where they recuperated, gathered the
last of the herbs, and cried collectivelt. They deduced from visual evidence that the boy was
some sort of Vampire - a large part of the evidence being that, upon leaving the cave, they
found the orc guards dead and utteraly decimated.
The party travelled back to the Dark Scar, where they learned that the boy vampire was named
Jason, and his family had resided originally with the tribe, before the orcs discovered their dark
secret of Vampirism and exiled the boy into his subterranean gaol - from which he has now
been released. We get the impression that we have inadvertently unleashed a GREAT evil,
more concerning even than the plague of devils in the forest, and the party pledged to aid the
orcs in their efforts to hunt him down.
On the way fought some bugbears. Killed all except one - Grechu. Told us the bugbears
(Garugek or however you spell it) are fighting the modrons cos they made the portal work.
Steady stream of them - most is 6/7 at once. Sending smaller ones instead of big ones but they
look pissed. Izzy found a new axe that turns invisible when you throw it and then terrified
Grechu into working in Krakenfall with it. Rin got upset about it (first James now Grechu) but
Ayre said that it was Izzy's idea, and Rin agreed on the condition that if he steps out of line he
would remove his head from his body.
When we reached the rough area we realised we knew nothing about what we were doing. We
attempted to be stealthy but heavily failed. Krakkem then realised that they had pass without a
trace which made us all sneky Bois. Kara's horse was also surprisingly stealthy. Kara however
was not perceptive in anyway shape or form, somehow rolling a natural 1 then minusing 1.
We entered the cave to be faced with some strange gas and a torch (cough Moorg and Gharn).
Izzy stamped out the torch and we went down in the cave. We met a githyanki carrying a silver
sword and a torch in the middle of the cave. It seemed like it was on a patrol route. Kara
remembered they were not nice people and like the murder murder stabby stab type of
discussion unlike their cousins the githzerai. Ayre saw that there were other gith there who
looked kinda like monks. We killed quite a few giths. This is also when Ayre realised she was a
prat and didn't prepare many spells that would have been useful - e.g. silence or inflict wounds.
Izzy was also up against silver swords which being a literal werewolf was not going to go well.
There was a lot of sneaking around and being sneaky murderers. However, we then fucked up
and had to take on quite a few in one go and went up against a big baddy. He was a very big
bad boi and so we kinda yote out of there. Before we did, he attempted to plane shift Ayre but
didn't succeed. He also appeared to have some form of sword that stole Jay Foreman's soul.
He then knocked Izzy unconscious and attempted to plane shift her. She almost died twice.
Ayre also almost died as well. They finally exited the cave and commented that they should
come back better prepared next time.
When we got back we found out that Grechu had attempted to kill Graham which was
responded with the fewest of shits from Ayre. Asakar - the big baddie - The One With The
Greatsword was known by the gith contractor. He confirmed that the sword does steal souls.
Then we got our shit and left.
We went to the mine 3 days away, on the way there we were attacked by some bad doggos,
one of them tried to get away but wasn't faster than Krakkem. When we got there Krakkem gave
everyone darkvision and sat down to meditate but was interrupted by a scream, well i say by a
screm but he didn't stop meditating until a bit later, we'll get back to that after telling you about
the fact that there was a vampire child in the cave who had killed a fair few people in their just
before they arrived, luckily we weren't killed by this monster thanks to it owing stacy a favor for
releasing the damn thing. After that little cunt was gone we started fighting the undead in the
cave, did i mention there were undead in there, well anyways there were and they weren't that
hard to kill except they kept coming back to life until we found the crystal that revived them and
smashed it, clean-up was easy and Krakkem rode home jean claude van damme style between
two tigers
The hunt for the Githyanki Knight Leader, named Aasikar. It started out with the journey to his
Lair. On the way we found an innocent looking commoner, who as I suspected was not innocent
at all. She tries to lure my friends with Pleas for help about how her Bandit brothers amassed
this treasure in the hole, and that she needed help hauling it out. She gave us the reason that
we need to take it so that her bandit family doesn't get even more well equipped to plunder even
more. Suspecting something about to go afoot, whether it's Her or the sudden arrival of her
Bandit family, I stand ready to immediately Bless my sword for extra guided accuracy from the
divines. And she drops my friends deeper down into the hellish pit of cursed coins as she takes
away the ladders. I immediately lop her head off in a fit of rage at this treachery. The greedy Eris
immediately reaches out for the gold to shove as much of it as he can in his pockets. Upon
physical contact with the coins, it slightly singed him, and the coins started to multiply out of
control. When I noticed something was wrong at the bottom of the hole, I came up with the idea
to tie some rope onto a tree trunk and get some more rope off of Stacy. I tie the 2 ropes
together to create one rope that is long enough for my party members to climb from the bottom
of the hole. We eventually get out of that predicament and we make our way to our real
objective, the Slaying of Aasikar. Upon reaching his lair, we attempt to stealth, however our
party is not much for stealthing. At this moment, I tell my entire party that should we need to run,
then we SHOULD run as I give them cover while they retreat. We fight our way in through some
of the most perilous fights I've been in. However, none compare to Aasikar.. He really is a force
to be reckoned with. A man to be respected for his strength and willpower. He downs a lot of our
party members, steadily dealing some of the nastiest wounds I've witnessed. But, thankfully he
seemed to be focused on Killing me. "Good" - I thought - "He won't be hurting my precious party
members as much.. I couldn't bear losing any of them" - I sigh with relief - In the end, with the
collaborative efforts of my party and I, we finish off Aasikar and every other Githyanki in that
lair.. We return home with our spoils and his sword turned sickle, unsure of what power it
contains.
In the chapter titled “In Which Our Hardy Adventurers Find Themselves Obliged to Descend Into
The Abyss On a Mission of Mercy,” the party travelled to the Forgotten Library, wherein they
rendez-vous’ed with Minas, who had not only identified where in the Abyss Valvere was
trapped, but had also constructed a complex charm to transport the party to a level of the Abyss
near to where Valvere was imprisoned. All they had to do was reach the circle on each layer to
travel to the next. On the first layer they encountered several dretches backed up by a bone
demon. They bravely slew all of the creatures before descending to the next layer. There, they
were trapped in total darkness, and were forced to light a torch - which revealed their position to
several other demons residing within, resulting in an arduous battle, out of which they emerged
victorious, if not battered and bruised. The next layer was a tall cave of blue stone that spiralled
upwards, and which contained two bestial, ape-like Barlgura. The already-damaged party opted
to sneak past the two threats, and just managed to escape into the portal that took them to
Steven’s personal layer where Val was imprisoned. Therein, they thankfully located Val, and by
a stroke of luck arrived just as Steven returned to the layer, allowing them to bully him into
giving them a small hoard of treasure. However. They ALSO accidentally awakened an Abyssal
Knight residing in an inky black pool, which promptly crushed Steven and almost floored Lex -
and did, in fact, afflict him with a putrifying disease. The party struck hard and true, however,
and emerged victorious, fleeing the Abyss by using a small device given to them by Minas
which allowed them to signal him to pull them out. Val was retrieved, unharmed physically, but
with a new-found fear for strange portals. Lex was treated by Levi, and should make a full
recovery
A small group of us were resolved to get the foolish elgi back from Grimaz Ankor'dum. The
gallant umgi Kara, Lex, and Stacy, and myself, Old Thrum Steelbone, met together and traveled
to the sanctum of the wizard Minas, who would assist us in reaching such a dark plane. Minas
outlined that he would be able to make use of magic from Grimaz Ankor'dum itself to transport
us near the thirty-third level, the location of the elgi. He handed me a sigil-covered disc with a
button on it. He instructed us to use it when we needed to return. With that, he lit the spell circle
he had drawn on the floor with a match.
The next moment, we were in Grimaz Ankor'dum proper, desolate earth stretching as far as the
eye could see. From the disc came a sensation of pulling, and we followed its guidance. Over a
hill, we found a kazaki'dum near a circle of sorts in the earth, its skin like charred wood, a single
horn sprouting from his head. When it spotted us, it called some of its friends, vile narwangli
they were, but we gave them a smak and they fell true. I dealt the final blow to the horned one,
right in its back, with the perfect opening the umgi gave me. We headed into the circle, guided
by the disc, and were transported to the mouth of an ungor. Deeper inside, we sneaked up to
face some more kazaki'dum - this time a pair of winged wazzoks and several little bat-like ones
with shrieking heads for bodies. Once again, the umgi and I were undaunted, grom we were!
We continued on our way, to an area of inclined pathways. Quiet like shadows in the night, we
made our way past a big, red kruti and into another circle. In the blink of an eye, we were
standing in an odd place, made of loose, yellow-ish dirt and surrounded by water. It was here
that we found the elgi, along with some man that she and Lex immediately attacked. He ended
up forking over his azgal when pressured, which was a nice karin for me! But after this, a great
big hand of metal sprung from a blackened pool nearby. Soon we were face-to-face with a
towering kazaki in blackened klad, who wasted no time in laying low the man we found here. He
was a grim one, but so were we! At one point, he uttered some vile words, black tendrils
sprouting from his hands and afflicting Lex with some foul malady I can only begin to imagine.
But it turned into a proper runk quickly: fallen and restrained with the help of Stacy's mighty
snake, I drove my skrundaz home, right into the back of the wazzok's ghal. With that, we had
drung the brute, but Lex was still not in a good way, and I hurriedly used the disc to transport us
back to safety.
Five people were sent to investigate the forest and the Archfey Vealdir to find out more about
him and the devils he seemingly commands. We went from the library towards the forest and we
entered it. One night while on watch, out of the darkness we were attacked by Woodland
creatures and mushrooms, alongside some devils. We fought them off and won. We continued
on through the forest, we couldn't tell night from day, as the forest seemed to block off sunlight
in an otherworldly way. Eventually, Kara heard some words being spoken in Elvish and
immediately assumed it was Friendly. She was very wrong, as she risked the lives of her party
on a stupid whim. Nonetheless, the party escaped from now alerted Fey, and eventually
continued marching on. They found themselves in the middle of a patrol route. The party then
sneaked past the patrols. Not that easily however, as Miles alerted them to our immediate
presence right away. However, they could not locate us very well. After that little encounter, we
found a Satyr that was mistreating a devil. The devil lashed out in anger and was immediately
killed due to his breach of contract from what we can assume. Dion then used a shatter spell,
which alerted all the patrol units near and far to our current location, so we decided to run away
and hopefully live to fight another day.
