SHOUT-OUT
Thank You for Your Emmaus House Support!
Each Sunday evening, St. Francis de Sales Church is the site of a dinner served to any local community members who might
be struggling, with the help of local organizations and community members who donate food and volunteer time to cook,
prepare, serve and clean-up. This past January, CWC members generously dropped off food and assisted on our volunteer
night. Thanks to all who took the time to pitch in!
CWC members support St. Francis de Sales weekly community dinner by donating food and helping to prep, serve and clean up. Our
members enjoyed working together and bonding over a common cause.

SCHOLARSHIP In the spring, CWC rewards an outstanding high school graduate who
PROGRAM has demonstrated a history of service to the community with a $3,000
scholarship towards tuition and provides as many additional scholarships as
possible. In spring of 2019, we awarded a total of $5,000 in scholarships to
five deserving area high school seniors.
With a donation of $3,000 or more, the scholarship will be named after
you or your organization. We think this is a great way to show your support
for education and the community and assist in the educational goals of a
deserving local student. You may donate to the scholarship online at any
time on the CWC website.

GRANTS UPDATE
A Closer Look at One of Last Year’s Grant Recipients :
Joanie’s Closet
Last year, CWC awarded a grant for $5000 to Joanie’s Closet, after they completed our thorough vetting process. As with all
grant applicants, we interviewed a representative of the organization, requested three years of financials, requested a detail of
how the grant will be used and verified that they have 501(c)(3) status. Joanie’s Closet is a committee under the District 95
Educational Foundation that serves under-resourced District 95 students and their families, in collaboration with the community,
by providing basic needs to help students achieve their full potential.
Here are some of the ways Joanie’s Closet helps District 95 students:
School supplies
Clothing, underwear, socks, shoes, boots,
Winter coats, hats, and gloves
Snacks and breakfast foods provided to the school nurse for hungry students
Snacks for under-resourced students for after-school programs
Emergency groceries, grocery and gas cards
Household necessities
