Benefiting women and children in Lake County 3 LETTER FROM THE CO-PRESIDENTS GRANTS SPOTLIGHT Welcome Spring! This time of year brings longer days, renewal and one of the most rewarding seasons for CWC. We have some great spring events planned and we hope to see many of you. As a reminder, other than Corporate Sponsors, we no longer have formal individual memberships and invite anyone interested in our mission of helping women and children in need in Lake County to join us, donate or volunteer at any level. Visit CaringWomensConnection.com for info. March brings our St. Patrick’s Social, a casual, drop-in event at the Kemper Lakes Golf Club bar on March 9. And men are welcome! See the back cover. Our front cover invites you to our last big fundraiser in our “Love in Action” themed year, our Spring Luncheon on April 23, also at Kemper. Our “True Stories” luncheon theme celebrates the work we do with a fun throwback, elegant, 1920’s vibe. Please plan to join us. And the heart of CWC plays out these next months as we interview and select our high school seniors to receive our CWC Service Scholarships for college and do the work to review and vet our 2023 grant applicants. The final push for fundraising this spring directly helps toward our Love Fund grant money which make these grants possible. Check out our spotlight below to learn about a past grant recipient. Interested in helping out or possibly joining our board? We are planning for our 2023/24 year now and would love to hear from you. If you have questions on anything for CWC please feel free to contact us: [email protected] CHRIS GEIMER AND DANIELLE BORECZKY Co-Presidents “Thank you for helping us achieve so many new and exciting things this year for our clients and kids.” CYN Board & Staff Who does CWC provide grants to? Here we spotlight another recipient of last spring’s grants. CYN Counseling Center is a organization whose mission is “to provide and expand access to comprehensive, quality mental health services, while increasing awareness and working to eliminate the stigma of mental health issues.” CYN’s grant request to CWC was for their mental health services for survivors of violence program. The program provides counseling to survivors of violence in Lake County including domestic violence, child abuse, gang involvement and more. CYN provides high quality treatment so women and children can improve their mental health functioning and cope with past and ongoing trauma. The grant helped toward providing these services at no or low cost with no wait time. Learn more at www.CYNgrayslake.org Look for information on our 2023 grant recipients in our next newsletter.
