RAK Ceramics extra thick outdoor tiles collection allows you to add a touch of style and class when personalising
your outdoor spaces. Highly durable these 18mm thick porcelain tiles are easy to install and clean. With a wide
range of appealing designs to choose from including urban concrete, wood or natural stone, the tile series is
perfect for terraces, balconies, outdoor paving, patios, gardens or compound pathways.

With strong technical characteristics including high breaking strength, resistance to wear and tear and thermal
shock as well as the ability to cope with heavy footfall, our outdoor series is perfect for use in both residential
and commercial areas.

In addition to standard application areas, with specialised installation, the tiles can also be used for vehicle
resistant paving in industrial and commercial areas. Also suitable for use in garages and for creating ramps.

DRY APPLICATION (DIRECT LAYING) - ON GRASS

Create paths or decorations on grass in both private or public gardens. RAK Ceramics outdoor tiles collection
blends well with natural surroundings and ensures adequate drainage. The tiles allow for:
• Fast Installation
• Easy to remove and reposition
• Save on skilled labour cost
• Resistant to chemicals, water, fire and natural elements

Substrate Preparation
Place the tiles at regular intervals and decide the layout. Mark off the edge of each tile with a spade. Remove the
tile and dig the turf to a depth of 6-5cm within the marked area.
Surface Levelling
Add a layer of at least 3cm of gravel (using at least 0.5cm particle gravel)
Layout
Position the tiles at least 1cm below the surface of the ground and use a rubber hammer to level.
Joints
Leave gaps between the tiles to suit your desired appearance.

Application Methods

WET application (adhesive LAYING)

Traditional laying on concrete screed is ideal for areas that have dynamic and concentrated loads such as
parking, garages, yards or compound walkways. Due to their versatility, 18mm thickness tiles can be used on
both pedestrian and vehicle areas simultaneously to ensure a seamless look.
Substrate Preparation
Create a concrete substrate layer followed by a layer of gravel. Add a levelling layer of concrete of suitable
thickness.
Surface Levelling
Add a reinforcing screed of suitable depth and industrial type. Ideally the screed should be 10-8cm thick with a
welded steel reinforcing grid laid about halfway through the layer.
Layout
Install the tiles using an outdoor adhesive and the double coating method.
Joints
Tiles should be laid with at least 5mm open joints. Structural joints can also be used.
