Family Hierarchy
Sharifah Aini binti Syed Jaafar was a singer in Malaysia. On July 2, 1953, she was born in
Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Bahru. She was born to Syed Jaafar bin Syed Sahil al-Jufri and
Sharifah Noor binti Syed Ahmad Al-Attas, and she has seven siblings. Sharifah Aini was a
descendant of Pahang's "Raja Bendahara Sri Majaraja," Tun Mutahir Tun Ali (1813-1863).
Sharifah Aini was reared by her grandparents in Kampung Majidee, Johor Bahru, to be sent to an
Arabic religious school and taught the holy words of the Al-Quran when she was young. Sharifah
Aini was already well-known as a toddler for assisting her grandmother in selling various baked
pastries across Johor.

She attended Sekolah Menengah Sultan Ismail in Johor throughout her adolescence. She became
well-known as a result of her singing abilities. She was asked to sing at events hosted by her
school. She was invited to sing not just for her school, but also for other schools in Johor,
including Sekolah Menengah Sultan Ismail Ibrahim Girl School, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan
Engku Tun Aminah, and the prominent Sekolah Menengah Tun Fatimah, at events sponsored by
them. Furthermore, because she was a superb vocalist, she was invited to sing at weddings and
opening events. Sharifah Aini intended to follow her ambitions of singing after high school, but
she also wanted to pursue a profession in medicine. In the end, she picked singing as her career
path because she believed it would be the greatest way for her to relieve parental burden.

early education

Figure 5: Everyone must have their own early education, as well as National Singer Datuk Sharifah Aini binti
Picture of Sharifah Aini when 3 years old Syed Jaafar. She also has Early Education which started when she was 7 years old.

Education can be defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge,
developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others
intellectually for mature life. It also can be defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring
particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession. However, Early education can be defined as Early
education received. For example, education that gain from kindergarten or preschool while still
young.

The narrowness of life usually restricts children's opportunities to continue their education in school.
This problem is also what plagued Sharifah Aini when she was a child. She went through a very
painful life. While other peers are busy at home deepening their knowledge, she is busy outside her
house selling the foods. However, she still got the opportunity to study. Despite not being able to
continue her studies up to a higher level, that is not an obstacle for Sharifah Aini and at the same
time changes the fate of her family.

6 MSII 2022

Figure 6: Like other children, Sharifah Aini's father and mother never neglected religious knowledge.
Sekolah Agama Al-Attas, Wadihana, Johor Sharifah Aini's parents do not want their children to be raised without adequate religious
education. As early as the age of seven he received her education at a Malay school near her
Figure 7: home. At the same time, she was also sent to the Arabic language school, Sekolah Agama
Sekolah Menengah Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru Al-Attas, Wadihana, Johor in the afternoon. Later, Sharifah Aini had the opportunity to
further her studies at Sekolah Menengah Sultan Ismail in Johor Bahru. Unfortunately, she
could not continue her studies to form three because the financial problems that plagued her
family were quite painful. Even so, Sharifah Aini never regretted it. She realized there
might be some hidden wisdom behind the allegation.

Seeing other peers happy with the world of school, Sharifah Aini's heart ached and
occasionally touched by the memory of her future which may be blurred. But she continued
to be reassured by her harness and mother. They always give encouragement and confidence
to their beloved princess that one day a new ray will incarnate in her as well. Far away from
the world of school, but Sharifah Aini has an advantage that is unmatched by any of her
friends. Sharifah Aini has a softness of voice that no one else has. When she was in primary
school, Sharifah Aini had finished the Quran five times.

7 MSII 2022

Figure 8: Ustazah Zubaidah, Ustaz Sulaiman and Ustaz Mohd Zain were among the teachers responsible for guiding
Sharifah Aini fully dressed for primary school Sharifah Aini to deepen her study of the Quran. It was during this time that her mother often kept wishing to
see Sharifah Aini succeed as a ustazah. Although at the same time Sharifah Aini showed interest in the field
of music art, but from her mouth she often did not escape from mentioning her hope to see Sharifah Aini
succeed in the field of religion. Of course, her mother's dreams and the reality of real life that Sharifah Aini
went through are as different as heaven and earth. But her mother's memory and words always played in
Sharifah Aini's mind. She said, "in our lives, religion should be the mainstay."

Sharifah Aini's children's world in the field of religion is indeed quite brilliant. Sharifah Aini won the
championship 10 times in the Johor State School Level Tilawah al-Quran competition. Apart from that, she
also dominated the Al-Attas Religious School and Arabic School Lecture Competition in Johor Bahru seven
times. This excellence also makes Sharifah Aini's name continue to be the pride of many. She is known
throughout his village. In fact, his name is always on the lips of friends in the village.

Despite his popularity, he remained humble. At that time, Sharifah Aini often reminded herself not to forget
herself from time to time. Sharifah Aini said she was determined to change the fate of her family. she did not
want herself and her family to continue to be squeezed by poverty. In any case, she doesn’t want to
disappoint the two parents who take care of her who are also like ‘life’ for her.
