1. Describe the setting.
A) It was a steep – sided valley cluttered with giant, spiky green pine trees, and thick green grass
that reached to the top of one’s socks so that when one ran he/she had to bring his/her knees up
high, like running through water.
2. What was the common belief about the dragon?
A) The common belief was that when the town was in trouble, the Dragon would wake & free,
the village by making a lake.
3. How were the children responsible for ‘Water Dragon Day’?
A) The children collected dried flowers and placed them around the dragon. The pollen from
these flowers made the dragon wake up because he wanted to sneeze. The sneeze made a hole in
the ground and made water from under the ground to come up to the surface. This caused a lake
to form & the drought of the town was ended. From then on, that day was celebrated as ‘Water
Dragon Day’ & the children of the town were responsible for it.
4. What was the effect of the Dragon sneezing?
A) The sneeze of the Dragon split open the dry earth, sending explosions of soil, tree roots and
water high into the sky like missiles.

A) The drought caused the townsfolk to worry.

A) They expected the Dragon to wake up & make a lake like the stories said it would.

A) The children had the most faith in the Dragon. They did not give up hope when the adults
did. They tried their best to wake up the dragon.

A) The day is known as ‘Water Dragon Day’. Because the day marked the occasion when the
townsfolk were saved from the drought by the Dragon.

d) Why did the speaker say so?
A) It was believed that dragon would wake up & save the villagers by making a lake in
times of trouble but the days went by slowly quietly & most importantly, without any
rain and even the townsfolk were worried but the dragon had moved not even an inch.
This caused worries among the villagers.
2. “ Look out! Run! Run!”
a) Speaker:- The children.
b) Explain the situation.
A) The children had placed bunches of flowers around the dragon in a big circle. They
scattered petals around its head & over its nose.
A dry wind picked up some flower heads & swirled them around the air was thick with
pollen & perfume the story grey nostril of the dragon twitched & an ears swiveled. The
ground began to rumble on seeing all these, the children scampered in all directions.
