The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales under the leadership of Provincial
Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V conducted a Tree Planting Activity at Sitio Panayunan, Danacbunga,
Botolan, Zambales as part of its Human Resource Program – encouraging employees to give importance to
nature and also prioritize their mental health. The undertaking was participated by the DILG Field Officers and
provincial office personnel last October 28, 2021
In her message, PD Bactad expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the team for giving time for the activity and
emphasized that it provides an avenue for everybody’s mental health wellness. “Napakasarap pala
talaga magtanim. Ang saya-saya na habang tinatanim mo [ay] kinakausap mo [iyong itinatanim mo]
na protektahan ang kalikasan. That’s exactly the purpose of this activity aside from
us communicating with mother nature, we leave behind something that replenishes th e
environment,” PD Bactad said.
Further, PD Bactad persuaded the Team to sustain the spirit of unity and teamwork
despite the challenging situation brought by the pandemic. She mentioned that the team
should adopt the characteristic of the bakawan. “Basta’t magkakapit bisig tayo kagaya ng

together,” PD Bactad added.
Cluster Team Leader LGOO VII Judith B. Romero discussed the overview of the activity
and reminded that it aims to raise awareness and to give importance to environmental
protection by planting trees.
Engr. Andy A. Divino, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) of
LGU Botolan, gave a brief lecture regarding the environmental programs of the LGU and the proper
method of planting mangrove. He was then awarded with a plaque of commendation to recognize his
contributions in environmental management and disaster resilience innovations of the Municipality
of Botolan by PD Bactad.
The activity adheres with the advocacy of environmental preservation to connect people with nature
and inspire them to be responsible stewards of the environment and by reminding that greener earth
is what we need.

The DILG Zambales Team led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V conducted its Year-End Assessment on
Locally-Funded Projects (LFPs) Implementation cum Team Building Activity on December 14-15, 2021 at Bakasyunan
Resort and Conference Center, Iba, Zambales.
The activity aimed to assess the performance of the province and of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in terms of
project implementation. LFP Provincial Engineers facilitated the discussion to address the problems and bottlenecks
that were encountered by the LGUs and DILG Field Officers on the locally-funded projects. It also served as a venue
to present and evaluate the DILG Zambales’ Operations Plan and Budget (OPB) Targets and Accomplishments for CY
2021.
Likewise, LGOO V Jephany M. Pingkihan who is the newly installed OIC-Municipal Local Government Operations Officer
(MLGOO) of the municipality of San Marcelino was officially introduced to the team.
Moreover, teamwork and camaraderie among the staff were strengthened through a team-building activity by various
parlor games and outdoor activities. Another highlight was the awarding of certificates of commendation by PD Armi
V. Bactad, Cluster Team Leader Judith B. Romero and Acting Program Manager Paulin Johanne L. Reyes to DILG

In her message, PD Bactad thanked and congratulated the collaborative efforts undertaken
by every member of the team in achieving the department’s objective. She also
