A statement is simply a record of all outstanding invoices, whether they are due now or
not. It is good practice to review your statements to ensure you have a record of all open
invoices, their correct amounts, and due dates.

Here are a few simple tips for accounting success:

• When sending in your payment, reference which invoice(s) you are paying either on
the check memo line or elsewhere.
– Don’t assume we know where to apply your money. We could do it differently
than what you intended, which can mess up your accounts payable.

• If paying off of a statement, check your records to be sure you haven’t already sent
in a payment for one or more of the invoices listed.
– It could be that we haven’t yet applied a previous payment for an invoice when
the statement was generated, which could result in an overpayment.
