celebrated in many countries
every October 31, the day
before the Solemnity of All
Saints of Western Christianity.

Halloween celebrations are
commonly held in the United
States and Ireland. United
Kingdom, Canada and also in
Australia. with New Zealand
too Including other countries
in Europe, Halloween is also
popular for fun.

Halloween history

Halloween has its origins in an ancient Celtic festival.
Known as Samhain, of ancient Irish origin, it was
regarded as the end of summer. The ancient Britons
also had a similar tradition called Calan Gaeaf.
Samhain festival was held to celebrate the end of the
light of the year. and enter the dark period of the
year It is also regarded as the Celtic New Year.

This festival is called by some people. Festival of the
dead (Festival of the dead) The ancient Celts believed
that it was the day when this world and the next world
came closest to each other. make the spirits (both
dangerous and non-hazardous) can pass in and out freely
in which respected ancestral spirits will be welcomed
back home while evil spirits will be driven away It is
believed that in order to be able to drive away evil
spirits This can be done by wearing a ghost costume
and mask. whose purpose is to disguise himself as an
evil spirit. To avoid danger, in Scotland, teenage men
dress up as ghosts in white, masks, veils. or paint your
face black

Samhain is also a day to stock up on food for winter.
And it was played around the campfire in many areas.
The lights and other types of lighting will be turned off.
and each house would set a fire in the furnace using
the tinder from the fire. the bones of animals used as
food will be thrown into this flame. Sometimes, two
bonfires will be lit side-by-side, and people and animals

สหรัฐอเมริกาไอร์แลนด์ สหราช
อาณาจักร แคนาดา และยังมีใน
ออสเตรเลีย กับนิวซีแลนด์ด้วย รวมถึง
ประเทศอื่นในทวีปยุโรปก็นิยมจัดงาน

ประวัติ วันฮาโลวีน
31 ตุลาคม

วันฮาโลวีนมีจุดกำเนิดมาจากเทศกาลของชาวเซลติค
โบราณ ซึ่งรู้จักในชื่อ Samhain มีที่มาจากชาวไอริชโบราณ
ถือกันว่า เป็นวันสิ้นสุดของฤดูร้อน ซึ่งชาวบริตอนโบราณก็
มีประเพณีคล้ายกันนี้ เรียกว่า Calan Gaeaf เทศกาล
Samhain นั้น มีขึ้นเพื่อฉลองจุดสิ้นสุดของช่วงสว่างแห่งปี
และเข้าสู่ช่วงมืดของปี ทั้งยังถือกันว่าเป็นวันปีใหม่ของชาว
เซลติคอีกด้วย

เทศกาลนี้ ชนบางกลุ่มก็ใช้ชื่อว่า เทศกาลแห่งความตาย
(Festival of the dead) ชาว เซลท์ โบราณเชื่อว่าเป็นวันที่โลกนี้
และโลกหน้า โคจรมาอยู่ใกล้กันมากที่สุด ทำให้เหล่าวิญญาณ
(ทั้งที่มีอันตรายและไม่มีอันตราย) สามารถผ่านเข้าออกได้อย่าง
อิสระ ซึ่งวิญญาณของบรรพบุรุษที่เคารพจะได้รับการต้อนรับ
กลับบ้าน ในขณะที่วิญญาณร้ายจะถูกขับไล่ โดยมีความเชื่อกัน

ที่มาของชื่อ วันฮาโลวีน

คำว่า ฮาโลวีน (Halloween) เดิมทีนั้นสะกด
เป็น ฮันโลวีน, ฮัลโลวีน, ฮาโลวีน เป็นคำย่อของคำ
ว่า Hallows’ (ฮอลโลว, ฮาโลว) Even (อีเว้น) และ
คำว่า e’en ก็เป็นคำย่อของคำว่า even ซึ่งย่อมาจาก
คำว่า evening (ค่ำ) ซึ่งเป็นคำที่มีรากคำมาจาก
ภาษาอังกฤษโบราณ ปัจจุบันเป็นที่รู้จักในชื่อ วันอีฟ
ออฟ ออลเซ็นต์ ซึ่งตรงกับวันที่ 1 พฤศจิกายน

สัญลักษณ์/เครื่องหมาย วันฮาโลวีน

ในวันฮาโลวีนอีฟ ชาว เซลท์ โบราณจะแขวนโครงกระดูกไว้
ตรงธรณีหน้าต่าง เพื่อเป็นการแสดงออกถึงความตาย ประเพณี
นี้มีจุดกำเนิดในยุโรป จะมีการแกะสลักโคมไฟจากหัวผักกาด
เพราะมีความเชื่อว่าหัวเป็ นส่วนที่มีพลังที่สุดของร่างกาย
ประกอบไปด้วยจิตวิญญาณและภูมิความรู้ ซึ่งชาวเซลท์ จะใช้
ส่วนหัวของผักมาขับไล่วิญญาณร้าย

สยองขวัญ

บ้านผีสิงก็จะถูกจัดขึ้นเพื่อสร้างความบันเทิงเชิง
สยองขวัญ ซึ่งมักจะเป็นธุรกิจที่เกิดในช่วงเทศกาล
