Presidents Report
Wow, can you believe that the summer is almost over? I’ve already seen car carriers in town. To me that is the
precursor to Season starting. And because of the hot weather up north, I believe our part time residents will be ar-
riving earlier this year. Which also means that the roads will be filling up and more people NOT seeing us on our
bikes. Safety is a yearlong issue. Please always make it a priority for you and for your loved ones.
LEGISLATIVE FRONT: Very important this year to vote in Motorcycle friendly candidates. MSC or Motorcycle
Safety Coalition is pushing for the helmet law. State feels it will be in committees very soon. If you enjoy your
right to decide, put in people who will agree with you. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!!!
Preservation Run is over and what a great turn out we had. Thank you to everyone that showed up including our
neighbors Estero River. We are always stronger when we work together. Good job Dave Pappas and all of those
who manned the stops. 82 was the final count.
Many things on the horizon. First is the Birthday Party at the KOA. Check out the flyer. Margo/Trudi can give
you info on the cabins being offered by KOA. Then right after the party, we will hold our chapter meeting the next
morning at the KOA clubhouse. If you get there early enough Rambo will be serving breakfast. A treat not to
miss. Meeting is still at 11. After the Chapter meeting, our fellow 5 star chapter Presidents will be meeting at the
KOA to finalize plans for the State Party that’s being held at the Peace River Campground. Are you coming?
Tickets are $30 each til the 25th of Sept. Get them now so you don’t forget. This is going to be a great weekend
with bands, bike games, good food, and fun!!! Come out and support YOUR MRO!!!
Then we have the Memorial Tribute. Unfortunately it will not be a Run this year but a meeting place to for us to
remember those we have lost. Rusty and Dave Lindsey will chair this. It will be on Oct 30th.
Gator Trot, otherwise known as Run and Gobble, needs 2 chair people like yesterday. We need to get this going
and approved. If no one steps up, the board will designate a drop off spot and the E Board will take donations to St
Matthews. Some have thrown around ideas about how we can do it and not make it a run. But something needs to
be put in place. Remember an actual Run will cost hundreds more for insurance. Please step up. This Event also
helps those in our chapter that could use some assistance at this time of year.
Heritage House Christmas Sing Along with the GA Carolers (Heritage Run but not a Run), will be happening the
first weekend in Dec. Roger has graciously stepped up to chair this event. Keep a look out for info in the Newslet-
ter. Which by the way is www.gatoralley.abateflorida.com. A Note on the newsletter, starting Jan 2017, we will
only be sending out newsletters to those that request a mailing. Please contact Trudi at Member-
[email protected] to give her your request.
December 10th is the State Meeting and it’s in Naples again this year. Frizz and Trudi are heading this up. Please
donate some food even if you can’t stay for the meeting. Many have already step up with their donations. I thank
you.
Swamp to the City, usually the first weekend in January, will be chaired by our own LauraJo again. Please stay
informed for details.
Other non-Abate events that we take part of is the Swamp Buggy Races. Ron Jefferson had procured a space for a
safety tent. So this means we need several to help out on a shift. This is in November and LauraJo will have the
signup sheet. No one can ever say that Gator Alley is boring and never does anything. If they do, they really don’t
have a clue.
Two things in passing. Tallahassee trip is April 9th for State Meeting and 10th for the Ride to the Capital. Also
please remember Wylie and Susan. As I write this, Wylie is at Hospice in Bonita.
Be safe.
Lynn Corr
President , Gator Alley Chapter of ABATE of Florida, Inc.

Congratulations to Margo and Brad - what a great wedding. Always
remember “Live, Laugh, Love”.

Preservation Run, Great job Dave and Tammy, went very smooth.
Awesome turnout! Remember Dave, never say never. Abate needs brothers like you;

when things gets tough, the family gets tougher.

Margo is chairing the birthday party September 24th 6:pm to 10:pm. Thanks to
the KOA for hosting our celebration. Thank you to Roger for stepping up to

chair the Heritage House Christmas celebration., and Rusty for the Run & Gobble!

Dave Linsey and Rusty Crans are chairing the Memorial Tribute on
October 30th. Afterwards we may be visiting one of our new
advertisers.

Both the July & August meetings were great listening to the candidates for our
upcoming elections. Stay informed!

SUNSHINE REPORT — July

John "Friz" Stevens, a Get Well Card for his unexpected stay in the hospital due to Bronchitis
and a heart related problem. He hated it. Wanted to go home every second. But...he is better
and home so that is all that matters. Be well and stay well, dear Friz...even tho you are not on
the board anymore, we expect you to supervise! :-)

Rusty and Kelly Crans, a Sympathy card for the loss of their little furbaby, Romeo, who fell
victim to a venomous snake. They tried everything they could to combat the bite, but Romeo's
tiny little body just couldn't fight it. We all know that Rusty, Kelly and Robbie have love they
haven't even used yet, and they have have already made plans to bring Big Louie a new little
brother named Leo. I don't care how tough you are, losing a pet takes away a part of your
heart, and continuing to give a pet a loving home is the only cure.

Our Dearest Wiley is not doing well, but we were able to send a group to him after the meet-
ing. We passed the hat and THANK YOU to all who donated. Please keep Wiley and Susan in
your prayers. His battle has been long and tough, and he is tired. Hospice is making him com-
fortable. I know that each and every one of you have a special place in your heart for our San-
ta, and we would all make him well if we could. May God Bless him and those who are caring
for him.

TOOT TOOT~My own horn....By the time ya'll read this, the 'Bout Time Wedding will have
come and gone, and Brad and I will have officially hitched our wagons! Thank you to everyone
who helped make this happen and everyone who came to help celebrate. It's been a Wild Ride,
and we will continue to be in the wind with all of you by our sides! XOXO

Nowadays, people are so caught up in their technology that when someone says "How ya do-
ing?" they respond, "Google it." :-P

SUNSHINE REPORT — August

Dave "Wylie" Wyland, AKA Santa, Thinking of you card. He was taken into Hospice in Bonita and is being very well
taken care of during his last journey. Doctors cannot do anything more for him. Please keep Wylie and Susan and
their family in your prayers as they cope with the next transition in his life.

Family of Tony Nagar, a Sympathy card for his passing. He joined Camo the Dog shortly after he crossed the Rainbow
Bridge. We were able to attend Tony's Celebration of Life at the Moose, and it was a bittersweet gathering. He and
Camo will be missed as they were two peas in a pod...old and crotchety, but if he loved you, you knew it. We will
remember them both with love and laughter.

Our Mike Marks, a Get Well card for a rough and tumble fall over his cat that landed him back in the hospital and
rehab which undid his last surgery! As always, his spirits are good albeit his luck is bad! Keep him and Jeannie in your
prayers for a full recovery and better health in the future. We love you!

Lee Haddix, Thinking of you card as he is going through some health issues.

PLEASE OFFER UP YOUR PRAYERS FOR THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE:
Laura Jo Smith
Bill Ratcliff
Luke Reed's Dad, Mark (goes by Bo) in Tampa.
The Sick, the Unemployed, Our Troops and Veterans, Our Elderly, and our Children.
Your entire Gator Alley family as each and every one of us are going through some kind of battle that get us down or
add stress to our lives.

PRESERVATION RUN REPORT

Hi everyone,
What a beautiful day we had for the 16th Annual Preservation Run. It was hot, humid and sticky but it did not rain.
There was no excuse not to come out to support the cause. Which is “Freedom of Choice”? It was 16 years ago
that we were able to amend the Helmet Law, with the help of Burt Saunders. This made it possible for those who
ride to decide. By the way, a shout out of thanks to Burt and Bob Miller for theit monetary support for this run.

Plus a big thanks to all of our supporters for making this a successful event. Bills Café, Gator Crossroads, Ever-
glades Cycle, North Naples Country Club, and Sneaky Pete’s. Collectively you gave over 20 gift certificates and

prizes. Making for a fun and entertaining time for all.

It goes without saying, that I appreciate all who were involved with this run. From those who did the so called
background work to those who came out and supported the run. From reports I have received, it appears that all

had a great time. WE all made it a very successful event.

Thank you again,
Dave Pappas

VOTE

Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago? Most people today will tell you no. Most people have-

n't had a pay raise in that time, and if you did, everything you need in life is costing you more. Many who

are unemployed have even given up on finding employment because there is nothing available. Under the
current administration there are 151 million people living off government subsidy, or about 49% of the popu-
lation, and approximately 50% of these are people of working age. Also, about 42 million are seniors re-

ceiving social security, of which the majority paid into though-out their working years.

In 2 Thessalonians 3:10 we read, "If a man will not work, he shall not eat". But the people that govern our
country say, "We'll take from the workers and give it to the non-workers". Then again, they are far from

Biblical. They believe that abortion, killing of God's babies, is all right and should even be paid for with our

tax money. They believe that gays have more rights than the normal people, because again they ignore God's

teachings. In Romans 1:27 we're told, "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with wom-
en and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received

in themselves the due penalty for their perversion". (Aids)? Read Romans 1: 21-32.

Here we are at the beginning of August 2016 and Rasmussen reports say that 24% of the eligible voters
think the country is headed in the right direction, so I guess 76% of the people think we're headed off a
cliff. Now, much more so than in 2008, this country definitely needs a change. Although the current ad-
ministration has made some headway in the past 7 ½ years, there should have been much more. More busi-
ness have moved out of the country or gone under because of government restrictions, police never know if
they'll return to their families at night because the administration has taken away their respect, and crimes
of people running for office have been overlooked by the FBI because of political pressure. In other coun-

tries the lives of the people have always had to conform to the will of the government, whereas in the free
America the government was to conform to the will of the people. 'No more'. Our constitutional rights are
being violated every day and some will be gone completely if we don't vote for CHANGE!

"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a convic-
tion in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God? They are not to be violated but with
His wrath. Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep
forever." Thomas Jefferson

GATOR ALLEY CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES JULY 24, 2016 VFW: 11:00AM
WELCOME --- PLEDGE ---- MOMENT OF SILENCE

PRESIDENT: (LYNN) Leadership meetings were a great success albeit long sessions. Everyone attended multiple
meetings and got a lot of pertinent information. The most outstanding information was that the consequences of the
bike accident at another Chapter's toy run is higher insurance premiums for all runs. This was not a State issue, it is an
insurance issue for the corporation. We will make the best of the situation and continue to have events to raise money
for our Chapter and State. The changes have been implemented, and we need you to work with us, not against us with
complaints. We have runs coming up that need Chairs. From now on, if you want to receive a PAPER NEWSLET-
TER, you must contact TRUDI (Membership) to have one sent to you. Otherwise it will be available on our new web-
site, www.gatoralley.abateflorida.com and on Facebook. Please Like our page. Big Thank You to LauraJo Smith for

supportive of our cause. Running for re-election and one standing applause winning line, "IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE

corted run to the Memorial Run. He has never witnessed such professionalism and efficiency. Russel Tuff, Running
for District 3 Commissioner joined as a member, Bill McDaniels (member) Running for District 5 Commissioner, and

through with ads as to their continuance.

information on events, changes, motorcycle friendly candidates for the upcoming elections, and future pages of inter-

MEMEMBERSHIP – TRUDI STEEL – Passed a form to get people to advise if they want their newsletter mailed or to get it
online. We have two new members and one renewal, with Jenny McCallion celebrating 29 years.

NEWSLETTER – DEB PIGNATIELLO – Requested all reports be in by tomorrow. Need to update emergency response
team, if you can please let her know. Would like to bring back the members spotlight to help us get to know our new members
and introduce our old to the new. Contact her if you have anything you would like to say about yourself or someone else. We
need advertisers, everyone and anyone can bring in an advertiser. Check the Website and our Facebook site for all Events
coming up.

cycles sharing the road. There is still time to sign up for you CPR and Crowd Control Certifications. Crowd Control Class will
be September 18th at the VFW.
PR COMMUNICATIONS/ADVERTISING/SPECIAL EVENTS – CARI LAMONTAGNE—We have new forms for adver-
tising if you need a contract just request a copy be e-mailed to you. She worked a table at bike night a Harley this Friday, and
picked up two new members. Everyone is helping with these and again remember to use our advertisers and check our websites

termaster ) that inventories are due by November 1st to be turned into State by December.

torcycle to us to do with as we decide. It is the Rebel bike Rick Loy used to own. Wylie is in Hospice in Bonita but talk is he
may go home any day. You might call before you go up just in case they have taken him home. Mike Marks is at it again, he
tripped over a cat and opened the stitches in his back, speedy recovery and prayers for him. Luke Reed’s father is in Tampa hos-

M Hi all! This month I have a couple requests. First, if you have an email address please forward that to me. I'd also
E like to ask anyone receiving newsletter through the mail that could access it online at our new web-
M site, www.gatoralley.abateflorida.com , and would like to do this, it would help the chapter to save money by
B not sending these out. Thanks to all who signed up for this at the meeting. As they say every bit helps.

In July we had four new members, Denise Russo, Bill McDaniel, Rob Griffin, and Russell Tuff. We have two new
members this month Michael Dennison and Matthew Mullins big welcome to you.
I'd also like to thank the following for renewing their memberships, last month and this month, Rachelle Hoad-
ley, Ron Patten, Merry Lindsey, Eric Lindsey, Margaret Waterbury, Brian Moschello. Thank you all for your con-
tinued support.

E If you were up for renewal for July or August it's still not too late to renew,

KOA. Come out and have a good time!! Thanks, Trudi Steele

N I want to thank everyone for having the confidence in me to take
over the newsletter job from Pam. She has done a tremendous job
E the past year and a half, and her shoes are big ones to fill (well, not

W “literally”!). If you have any pictures from events, please be sure to
send them to me at [email protected]. As usual, we
S are continually working on ways to reduce the cost of sending out

L our newsletter. Please help us by letting us know if you want to
continue receiving the newsletter by mail or if you would be happy
E seeing it on-line. It will be available via
Facebook or on our chapter website
T (www.gatoralley.abateflorida.com). Additional

T copies will also be available at the chapter
meetings.

SCRIBE’S SCRIBBLES

Hey Everyone,

After the primary election we will have a better idea of how the 2017 legislature will be for us. Several
elections will be decided in the primary this year. Many of those elections are turning into a downright
dog fight. We have republicans calling each other liberals and Democrats calling each other conserva-
tives. I expect that more than one of the elections will be so close there will be a re-count or two.

I will be sending out an email once the dust settles and update you on the statewide primary results. We
will then plan for the general election in November and target the races that will be finally decided.

Here are some of the important dates for the 2017 session:

August 30, 2016

Primary Election (§100.061, Fla. Stat. (2016))

November 8, 2016
General Election (Art. VI, §5(a), Fla. Const.)

November 22, 2016
Organization Session (Art. III, §3(a), Fla. Const.)

January 27, 2017
Friday, 5:00 p.m., deadline for submitting requests for drafts of general bills and joint resolutions, including
requests for companion bills (Senate)

March 3, 2017
Friday, 5:00 p.m., deadline for approving final drafts of general bills and joint resolutions, including companion
bills (Senate)

March 7, 2017
Regular Session convenes (Art. III, §3(b), Fla. Const.) 12:00 noon, deadline for filing bills for introduction
(Senate Rule 3.7(1))

April 22, 2017
All bills are immediately certified (Senate Rule 6.8 and House Rule 11.7(i)). Motion to reconsider made and
considered the same day (Senate Rule 6.4(4))

May 3, 2017

resolutions (House Rule 10.19)

May 5, 2017
