Ol' Rog here. Just lettin ya know we are having the Run

SUNSHINE REPORT — September/October

September
Drew Harvie, our very sincere and heartfelt condolences for the loss
of Carol. We appreciate more than ever the short time we were able
to spend getting to know her, and hope that you are able to continue
to be a part of our group. We will always remember her smile. laugh
and support at our meetings and events. May you feel the love and
support from this brother and sisterhood of choice. Hugs, dear friend.
Tressa Marie Johnson, our condolences for the loss of her beloved
cat. When your heart is big enough to care and love critters, you
know you always have room for more when they leave us. May Mimi
and Bailey continue to live their best lives with you as their Critter
Mom. <3
Keep the prayers coming for Rambo, Deb, and Brian as even though
the treatments are doing what they are supposed to do, cancer is
never an easy journey. We love you very much.
A big THANKS to all who came and participated in our 36th Birthday
party. The attendance was small, but if you didn't have a good time, it
was your own fault. The food was delicious as always, the band
rocked the house, and the company was the best of the best that
keep this Chapter rolling strong. Cheers to one more year of fighting
the good fight.
How far is it from the Earth to the sun?
8 CVS receipts.

October
The Family of Mike Marks, our deepest condolences were sent as he
passed away. There will be a Memorial Ride for him on November
7th at 11:15am at Johnny Malloy’s in Bonita organized by Joan Colli-
somo. His son is monitoring his FB page and said there will not be a
service, but the family is trying to sell both of his bikes. Jeannie is
doing well in the Alzheimer’s facility. Please keep the family in your
prayers and attend the run if you are able.
Tressa Johnson, unfortunately lost her 16 year old cat as the one
she adopted to replace her other furbaby was sick and infected her.
In the midst of all of Tressa's heartache, she has managed to get a
new job working from home so we will wish her well and thank her
for her kindness and devotion to her four legged furbabies.
Good News for Rambo!! Had his last treatment for his throat cancer
and other than being sore, he feels good! Just have to play the hurry
up and wait game to make sure they got all of the yuck gone. We
love you, Reinbold family! We are all praying for you!
Got news before the birthday party that Norm Hansen spent some
time in the hospital that made him miss the party, but he was able to
attend the meeting this month. We wish you strength and healing as
you deal with your health concerns and hope you will get a clean bill
of health soon!
I feel sorry for all of the other "Brandons" that are getting bombarded
with being told where to go.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT: Darrin – - As of 10/6/21 the bills have not been released from Bill Drafting. As
soon as they are, I will send info to the mailing list. Sen. Books, who is promoting that any confederate design to
be removed, is also doing SB 258 which is concerning Motor vehicle racing or illegal Street Racing. 1 section
had to deal with Organized Rides. Her definition for the organized rides are including the people that impede
traffic to allow for the race. There is a Big concern because Words mean things. After a discussion with Darrin,
they changed the wording to “Take over Rides”. Sen Wright from Daytona area, the Space Junk bill writer,
wants help to deter events that allow “take over” events of the cities, such as Bike Week. There are Gun Bills –
variety of both Pro and against. A lot of Woke Bills. A good Litmus test of what the legislature will be looking
for. Forest Chapter – It would be a good idea to look at the Bills being issued.
LOBBYIST: Doc – The bills are in. During a Marion County delegation, I was discussing our bills and what
happened in the past. Explained about our money put in the General Fund. These were newer Legislators. Dur-
ing the talk, Doc requested a cashier check for the money that should have been given back the motorcycles. Af-
ter a longer discussion, Doc asked for these new people to look at our bills and consider supporting them. Doc
stressed the importance of going and listening to what your county or city is doing and passing. If you want to
speak about ABATE and need assistance on wording for phrases, call Darrin or Doc for assistance.
LEGAL COUNSEL: Jerry T- Will be at the next meeting in Peace River.
NCOM UPDATE: Doc – June 23, 24 in Nashville. Darrin’s corrected plaque was given.
TALLAHASSEE 2022: February 13th (Meeting), 14th (Ride to Tally) Still waiting for approval from Tallahas-
see.
Should know something in December.
STATE PARTY: Velcro – Checking out several venues. Will meet after the meeting.
OLD BUSINESS: 5 Star on May 14th, 2022. (approx. 11-5). At this time – Lighthouse Chapter has fulfilled their
paperwork and has been reinstated. All monies (except for a check that is in the mail) have been updated. There
was a question concerning the chapter meeting during suspension. It was explained and approved. Doc – there
are other chapters that are not following through with requirements. If all reports, especially treasurer are not
completed, chapters will be suspended. Due to the current administration and their new tactics especially con-
cerning taxes, we must be vigilante with our paperwork.
Steve – Treasure Coast will host April meeting. Lake made a motion, Polk seconded it. Motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS: None
GOOD TO THE ORDER: Strongbo at Palm Beach passed. Vintage – Sgt at Arms in Hospital and his wife as
well. Lake – Leesburg Bikefest in Nov 11-14. Hillsborough – the “Memorial” is available from Spooks and
Scoots. Take back to chapters. Boots is not doing well. Keep her and Buc in your prayers. Lake (Vera) spoke of
a special thank you? Ideas to be discussed. Donations? Lighthouse suggested a cards from each chapter and give
a gift card. Talked about a Flag on the Capital with “to Ms ABATE, You will always be on our list”.
Lighthouse – Motion to bring cards and or gift cards to December Delegate State meeting. Estero seconded. All
in favor. Lighthouse – motion – to have flag flown and give her the flag at June meeting. Seconded by Treasure
Coast. All in favor.
We all make mistakes; the idea is to not make the same mistake twice. The Board appreciates everything that
you do. To the Presidents of the Chapters here, it’s not an easy job. Be fair to your people, take care of them and
they will take care of you. Many ask how ABATE of FLORIDA, Inc. does it. It’s because of our people. Use
our $4k insurance policy as an incentive for membership. Polk County – Dec is the 38th annual Toy Run. Forest
has 2 events in October, and November. Breast Cancer Awareness and VFW Veterans home repair. To all Veter-
ans – if a person thanks you, all tell them thank you for your support.
50/50 Winner – Russ from Forest. Donated it back.

Hey Gang, some more the 10 most OVERLOOKED safety tips courtesy
of Motorcycle.com. Here’s a serious reminder of what we need to do
EVERY time we ride
AUBURNDALE, Fla. — A motorcycle rider died on a state highway
where he was struck by a state trooper and then run over by a tractor trail-
er, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The trooper was helping a construc-
tion crew working on a lane closure for repairs Monday night near Au-
burndale in central Florida, an agency news release said.
The 52-year-old man was headed west along State Road 400 when the
trooper pulled onto the road and collided with his Harley Davidson motor-
cycle, sending the rider’s body into the path of the truck, the report said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the 30-year-old trooper nor
the truck driver were injured. The names of those involved were not re-
leased.
Maybe the most overlooked safety tip of them all is staying focused. We’re
all guilty of wandering off, especially if we’re cruising along the interstate
without another soul in sight, but maintaining focus is key in the event an
emergency arises. That doesn’t mean riding wide-eyed and with a death
grip on the bars, but stay alert, be aware of what’s
around you, listen to your motorcycle, and most of
all, have fun.
Safely yours,
Fred Corr – Gator Alley Safety

As expected, the Senate redistricting process was handed off Monday to two subcom-
mittees to begin drafting congressional and legislative maps for the next decade.

Senate Reapportionment Chairman Ray Rodrigues, R-Estero, directed the subcommittee
chairs --- Fleming Island Republican Jennifer Bradley of the Congressional Reapportion-
ment Subcommittee and Zephyrhills Republican Danny Burgess of the Legislative Reap-
portionment Subcommittee --- to hold close to two “tier” standards outlined by the Flor-
ida Supreme Court.

Tier 1, in part, includes a prohibition on drawing lines with the intent of favoring or disfa-
voring a political party or an incumbent. Tier 2 includes standards such as districts being
nearly equal in population, remaining compact and, where possible, following bounda-
ries of such things as counties and cities.

Rodrigues said he’d prefer county boundaries be used, “where feasible.”

“I recommend that staff explore the concepts that, where feasible, result in districts con-
sisting of whole counties in less populated areas, and to explore concepts that, where
feasible, keep districts wholly within a county in the more densely populated areas,” Ro-
drigues said.

Reapportionment is expected to dominate the 2022 legislative session. House Minority
Co-leader Rep. Evan Jenne, D-Dania Beach, predicted a “knockdown, drag out” process
as political careers hang in the balance.

“Hopefully, everyone just adheres to what we have to do with
the Constitution, and we hope that everybody does not try to
make these maps in such a way to favor a political party, either
of the political parties, or any one individual, whether they're in
office or not at this point,” Jenne told reporters this week.

LISTEN
In second Chronicles we're told if we would humble ourselves,
pray, and turn from our wicked ways God would forgive our sins
and heal our land. People just don't seem to get the message
just the same as the Israelis in the time of David. In Psalm 81:11
we read, "But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not
submit to me." Then in verses 13 and 14 we read, "If my people
would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, how quickly would I sub-
due their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!
How long is it going to take the United States to stop their abortions, drunken-
ness, drug abuse, and willful living and just LISTEN?
