“Freedom of Choice” July 1, 2000

A young Irish boy named Eamonn goes off to college. Half way
through the semester, having foolishly squandered all his money ...
he calls home. "Dad, You won't believe what modern education is
developing! They actually have a program here in our institution that
will teach our dog, Jack, how to talk!" "That's amazing, "his father

says.”How do I get Jack in that program?" "Just send him down
here with $10, 000," the young boy says " & I'll get him in the
course." So his father sends the dog & $10,000. About 2/3 of the

way through the semester, the money again runs out.
The boy calls home. "So how's Jack doing son?" his father asks. "Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says,
"but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!"
"Read ??" says his father. "No kidding! How do we get Jack in that program?" "Just send $20,000, I'll get him in the
class." The money promptly arrives. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog
can neither talk, nor read. So he shoots the dog!!! When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited.
"Where's Jack? I just can't wait to see him read & talk!" "Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday just
before we left to drive home, Jack was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading The Economic Times, like
he usually does. Then Jack turned to me & asked, "So, is your father still having an affair with that pretty lady Rachel
who lives down the street ?" The father went white & exclaimed ... "I hope you shot that son of a bitch before he talks

to your Mother!" "I sure did, dad! "That's my boy!" The kid went on to law school & is now a politician.

TATE, chapter VP

There was an old man, a boy & a donkey. They were going to town & the boy was riding the donkey, the old man walking
alongside. As they rambled along, they passed some women sitting in the shade. One of the women said, ''Shame on you,

a great lump of a boy, riding while your father is walking." The man & boy thought maybe the critics were right so they
changed positions. Later they walked by a group of women by the river. One said, "How could you make your little boy walk

in the hot sun while you ride!" So they decided that maybe they both should walk. Next they met some men on the road.
"How stupid you are to walk when you have a perfectly good donkey to ride!" one said. So both father & son clambered
onto the donkey, deciding they both should ride. They were soon settled & underway when they encountered some children,

one girl shouted, "How mean to put such a load on a poor little animal."
The moral ---you cannot please all the people all the time.

Vern works hard at the Phone Co but spends 2 nights each week bowling, & plays golf every Sat. His wife thinks he's
pushing himself too hard, so for his birthday she takes him to a local strip club. The doorman at the club greets them &
says, 'Hey, Vern! How ya doin?' His wife is puzzled & asks if he's been to this club before. 'Oh no,' says Vern. 'He's in
my bowling league. When they are seated, a waitress asks Vern if he'd like his usual & brings over a Budweiser. His
wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable & says, 'How did she know that you drink Budweiser?' 'I recognize her,
she's the waitress from the golf club. I always have a Bud at the end of the 1st 9, honey.' A stripper then comes over to
their table, throws her arms around Vern, starts to rub herself all over him & says, 'Hi Vern. Want your usual table
dance, big boy?' Vern's wife, now furious, grabs her purse & storms out of the club. Vern follows & spots her getting
into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. Vern tries desperately to explain how the stripper
must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is screaming at him at the top of her
lungs, calling him every 4 letter word. The cabby turns around & says, 'Geez Vern, you picked up a real bitch this time.'

--- BIDEN & THE 2 HOGS Last Tue Biden got off the helicopter in front of the White House carrying a baby piglet
under each arm. The squared-away *Marine* guard snapped to attention & saluted, "Nice Pigs, Sir". The President
replied, "These are not Pigs. These are Authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for VP Kamala Harris & I got
one for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The squared-away Marine guard again snapped to attention, saluted, &
said, "Excellent trade, Sir."

NEWS FROM THE GAS STATION-- By Seth Lemon, Audacy
Filling up your car will continue to cost consumers more.
The cost of gas has jumped exponentially since the
beginning of the year, & experts predict prices will continue
to rise through the summer. The average price for a gallon
of gas is $3.13, the highest price so far this year & a 40%
increase since the start of 2021. It’s still lower than the
2014 peak of $3.70 & the 2008 all-time record of $4.11,
according to the AAA. GasBuddy said the 2018 national
average of $2.97 would actually be $3.18 in 2021. “We
believe it'll rise another 10 to 20 cents at the pump between
now & the end of Aug,” AAA rep McGee told CBS, who pointed to the sudden increased demand in travel, businesses
restarting after COVID shutdowns, & rising oil prices. In CA, prices are already well above $4. LA drivers are paying an
average of $4.33 per gallon, nearly a 9-year high. “With imbalances in supply & demand continuing, motorists will
continue digging deeper to pay for gasoline, as prices are likely headed nowhere but up until global supply starts to
catch up with the surge in demand,” A dispute between the United Arab Emirates & Saudi Arabia has hampered oil
production by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Although the U.S. is not a member of the
group, the White House said it is exerting pressure on those countries & key stakeholders. --WBBM News Radio

"Real Time" host, Bill Maher, closed his show by sounding the alarm on China's growing dominance over the US.
"You're not going to win the battle for the 21st century if you are a silly people. & Americans are a silly people," Maher
began the monologue, alluding to a "Lawrence of Arabia" quote. Do you know who doesn't care that there's a stereo
type of a Chinese man in a Dr Seuss book? China. All 1.4 billion of them couldn't give a crouching tiger flying f---
because they're not a silly people. If anything, they are as serious as a prison fight." He said. Maher acknowledged that
China does "bad stuff" from the concentration camps of Uyghur Muslims to its treatment of Hong Kong. But he
stressed, "There's got to be something between an authoritarian government that tells everyone what to do ...& a
representative government that can't do anything at all. In 2 generations, China has built 500 entire cities from scratch,
moved the majority of their huge population from poverty to the middle class, & mostly cornered the market in 5G &
pharmaceuticals, & they bought Africa. In China alone, they have 40,000 kilometers of high-speed rail. America has
none. ... We've been having Infrastructure Week every wk since 09 but we never do anything. Half the country is
having a never-ending woke competition deciding whether Mr Potato Head has a dick & the other half believes we
have to stop the lizard people because they're eating babies. We are a silly people. We see a problem & ignore it, lie
about it, fight about it, kick it down the road, & then write a bill where a half-assed solution doesn't kick in for 10 yrs,"
China sees a problem & they fix it. They build a dam. We debate what to rename it." The HBO star cited how it took
"10 yrs" for a bus line in San Francisco to pass its environmental review & how it took "16 yrs" to build the Big Dig
tunnel in Boston, comparing that to a 57-story skyscraper that China built in "19 days" & Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge,
which was demolished & rebuilt in "43 hours." " When COVID hit Wuhan, the city built a quarantine center with 4,000
rooms in 10 days & they barely had to use it because they quickly arrested the rest of the disease. They were back to
throwing raves in swimming pools while we were stuck at home surfing the web for black market Charmin. They've
made robots that check a kid's temperature & got their asses back in school. Most of our kids are still pretending to
take Zoom classes while they watch TikTok. Maher then blasted Democratic NY City Mayor, Blasio, accusing him of
degrading school standards by eliminating merit & substituting a lottery system for admittance to schools for advanced
learners. "Do you think China's doing that, letting political correctness get in the way of nurturing their best & brightest?

Do you think Chinese colleges are offering courses in 'The Philosophy of Star Trek, 'The Sociology of Seinfeld,' &
'Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse'? Those are real & so is China. & they are eating our lunch & believe me,
in an hour, they'll be hungry again."

-BACKROOM BRIEFING: GETTING HOT OVER PROTESTS July 15, 2021 Jim Turner © 2021 The

News Service of Florida. All rights reserved; see terms. Weekly political notes from The News Service of Florida

TALLAHASSEE --- Nearly 3 months after signing a highly contested law cracking down on
violent protests, Gov DeSantis went all in support of people blocking roads in major FL cities to
show solidarity with an explosion of protests in Cuba. Cubans are “rebelling against a
communist dictatorship,” DeSantis said during a roundtable at the American Museum of the
Cuban Diaspora. DeSantis’ support for Cubans & their allies drew questions from reporters
about a new law --- one of the Republican governor’s top legislative priorities --- that creates a
host of new crimes & enhances existing penalties related to protests, including a provision
prohibiting the “willful obstruction” of streets & highways. The governor was asked if protesters
on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade Cnty expressing support for Cubans should be
arrested, under the state’s new anti-riot law. But he said the rallies taking place since the weekend differ from violent
protests that broke out throughout the nation following last year’s death of George Floyd, a Black Minneapolis man who
died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for more than nine minutes. The protests about Cuba are “designed
to be peaceful,” DeSantis said. “They are trying to end the regime, & that is fundamentally different than what we saw
last summer, where people were burning down buildings --- & this fortunately wasn't happening in FL to any large
extent --- burning down buildings, looting, breaking windows, targeting law enforcement & all those things. & so I think
that people understand the difference between going out & peacefully assembling, which is obviously people's
constitutional right, & attacking other people or burning down buildings or dragging people out of a car & doing that. So,
they're much different situations.” DeSantis’ comments drew harsh criticism from Democrats, including those who
opposed the “Combatting Public Disorder Act” the governor signed into law on April 19. The law creates a new felony
crime of “aggravated rioting,” prohibits municipalities from impeding law enforcement actions to protect persons &
property during a riot or unlawful assembly, & puts restrictions on how a local government can reduce the budget for
law enforcement. Black Democrats, who strenuously objected to the measure (HB 1) they assert is rooted in racism &
evocative of Jim Crow-era laws targeting Black people, were quick to compare the state’s handling of protests in
support of the Cuban people with the governor’s framing of the need for the new law following last year’s protests.

“@GovRonDeSantis made blocking roads during a
protest illegal, but he's 100% cool with this because it's
Cuban-Americans protesting communism, not Black
people protesting police violence,” tweeted Rep Hardy,
D-W Palm Bch. “Anti-protest laws are meant to be
enforced against Black people only, of course.” State
Sen Jones, D-W Pk, blasted DeSantis & his allies for
"applying a politically-driven double standard when it
comes to the right to peacefully protest & exercise free
speech." “The blatant hypocrisy from the governor &
republican lawmakers is deeply disturbing & only increases the urgency for the people & leaders at every level to keep
confronting the misinformation & injustices needed to build safer, healthier communities for ALL Floridians," he said. A
coalition of groups, including the Dream Defenders & the FL State Conference of the NAACP, are challenging the law
in court. Senate Democrats said they were pleased the anti-riot law hasn’t been “weaponized” against those protesting
on behalf of Cuban people, but asked Attorney General Moody for guidance on how the law should be applied. “We
believe it is critical for every Floridian to be treated equally, & since we’ve seen peaceful protests emerge across
various municipalities & local governments --- many spilling onto state roadways --- it’s critical that elected officials &
Floridians alike have clarity from your perspective as Florida’s chief legal officer as it relates to the new statute,” the
caucus wrote to Moody. But DeSantis’ spokeswoman Christina Pushaw lashed out at his critics. “FL Democrats &
media are so mad that the Governor didn’t personally drive down & arrest people for protesting against the communist
regime in Cuba. When did liberals become such authoritarians?” she tweeted.

TALLAHASSEE --- The gap shows up in young children & continues into high school. Boys don’t score as well as girls
on reading tests. They also are more likely to be suspended or expelled & diagnosed with learning disabilities. “Girls
generally outperform boys in reading & writing in most school districts in the US, regardless of the district’s
demographics --- girls are about a half grade ahead by 3rd grade & almost a full grade ahead by 8th grade,” a state
House analysis said. FL lawmakers this spring unanimously approved a plan to begin addressing the issue, creating
the Task Force on Closing the Achievement Gap for Boys. The task force is scheduled to hold its first meeting & will
submit recommendations to Gov DeSantis & legislative leaders by Dec 1. As ex of the gap, 44% of 3rd grade boys
read below grade level on a 2018-2019 statewide assessment, a 4%-point deficit compared to girls, according to this
year’s bill (HB 7033). The gap was 11% points among 10th-grade boys & girls. The bill also said boys get expelled or
suspended more than twice as often as girls & are diagnosed with learning disabilities nearly 3 times as often.

CLASHING WITH CA Ryan Dailey Jim Turner TALLAHASSEE --- FL was added to a list of places targeted by CA
because of laws involving LGBTQ people. CA said it is halting state-funded travel to FL & 4 other states because of
what it considers discriminatory laws. “Congratulations to CA for somehow managing to create a new way to politicize
its bureaucracy,” a DeSantis spokeswoman, said after FL was added to CA’s travel-ban list, now at 17 states. CA
lawmakers created the list in 2016. Under it, CA state agencies are prohibited from state-funded travel to states with
laws allowing discrimination “on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.” FL, AK, MO, ND
& WV were added to the list, joining TX, AL, ID, IO, OK, SC, SD, KY, NC, KA, MI & TN. “Make no mistake: We’re in the
midst of an unprecedented wave of bigotry & discrimination in this country & the state of CA is not going to support it,”.
DeSantis signed into law a measure that bans transgender females from participating on girls’ & women’s high-school
& college sports teams. A 13-yr-old transgender girl from Broward Cnty & her parents filed a federal lawsuit challenging
the law. But DeSantis & Rep lawmakers have defended the law, saying it is aimed at preventing male athletes from
having a competitive edge over females. “The bill Gov DeSantis signed is not discriminatory; the legislation ensures
that women’s sports remain fair. On the contrary, allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports is
discriminatory, because it puts girls & women at a disadvantage based on immutable, innate characteristics. It is
disappointing that the politicians calling the shots in Sacramento are not willing to stand up for women & girls in CA.”
The day after the transgender-athlete bill was signed, DeSantis slashed $900,000 for programs that serve LGBTQ
people in Central FL, including a program that provides mental-health services to survivors & family members of
victims of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting.

LATEST FROM THE CLIMATE DEPOT https://gizmodo.com/ron-desantis-signs-a-bill-that-mandates-cities-keep-usi-1847176182
Gov DeSantis signed a piece of legislation into law earlier that requires FL cities & towns to keep using fossil fuels &
could strangle their ability to set clean energy goals & mandates. The bill, SB 1128/HB 919, is very similar to a slew of
other bills that have entered state legislatures over the past year. These pieces of legislation, which have been dubbed
“ban the ban” bills, are sponsored by oil & gas interests. They’re part of a flurry of public lobbying & private panic from
the industry in response to the growing number of cities moving to ban natural gas hookups in new construction. With
its passage, FL joins TX, LA, TN, AZ, & OK in banning new natural gas hookups in buildings; at least 8 other states
considered similar bills this year. &, like many of these bills, Florida’s new law has the backing of the state natural gas
association & other corporate interests. “It definitely is following the national trend we’re seeing pushed by the natural
gas industry,” Florida’s bill goes a step further than most. The language in the short bill is much broader than its
siblings; it says that cities “may not enact or enforce a resolution, ordinance, rule, code, policy, or take any action that
restricts or prohibits or has the effect of restricting or prohibiting the types or fuel sources of energy production.”
Proponents of the bill say that this language is meant to encourage “energy choice” for Floridians, a term the gas
industry has thrown around as it tries to defend against gas bans. But this phrasing, Schaefer said, opens the bill up to
a lot of interpretation, & could be read as potentially restricting cities from banning fossil fuels altogether

RIGHT TO REPAIR MAKES HEADWAY Consumers may soon have more choice over where to take
products, from vehicles to smartphones, to be repaired following a new Biden Admin executive order intended to
promote right-to-repair protections. In a broad-ranging executive order aimed at increasing competition in the
marketplace, President Biden has asked the Federal Trade Commission to draft regulations that would prevent
manufacturers from stipulating that these & other devices can be repaired only by authorized personnel. Tucked into
the executive order that covered 72 initiatives to promote competition in the US economy, Biden specifically asked the
FTC to crack down on “unfair anticompetitive restrictions on third-party repair or self-repair of items.” The new directive
to the FTC comes a couple of months after the commission delivered a 54-pg report to Congress that concluded “there
is scant evidence to support manufacturers’ justifications for repair restrictions.” The order is a significant win for the
right to repair advocates who have long championed a consumer’s choice to have their technology fixed either by third
parties or on their own, rather than solely by the manufacturer. Right to repair argues that anyone should have access
to the OEM parts, manuals, & software needed to perform those repairs.

HWY BILL PASSES HOUSE INCLUDING MOTORCYCLIST-SUPPORTED PROVISIONS The US House of
Reps passed the “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment & Surface Transportation in America” Act H.R. 3684
on July 1, 2021 by a mostly partisan vote of 221-201. The 5-yr $715 billion surface transportation & water
infrastructure bill directs federal investments in roads, bridges, transit, rail, & clean water programs, & also contains
several key provisions benefiting motorcycle riders; SEC. 3005: GRANT PROGRAM TO PROHIBIT RACIAL
PROFILING was amended to include grant funding to include “the costs of collecting, maintaining, & evaluating data
on the driver’s mode of transportation at traffic stops” to help determine biker profiling by law enforcement. SEC.
3011: STOP MOTORCYCLE CHECKPOINT FUNDING, not only expands prohibitions on motorcycle-only
checkpoints, but also prohibits law enforcement activities that “otherwise profile & stop motorcycle operators or
motorcycle passengers using as a factor the clothing or mode of transportation of such operators or passengers.”
SEC. 3013: MOTORCYCLIST ADVISORY COUNCIL, reauthorizes the MAC to “advise the Sec, the Administrator of
the NHTSA & Federal Hwy Admin on transportation issues of concern to motorcyclists,” including “barrier design, road
design, construction, & maintenance practices, & the architecture & implementation of intelligent transportation
systems technologies.” H.R. 3684 specifies that motorcycles must be taken into consideration when the DOT
conducts safety studies on autonomous vehicles. Additionally, the Hwy Bill earmarks $5,760,000 in 405 safety funds
to states for motorcyclist safety in the next fiscal year, & increases program funding by more than a third annually
through 2025. Time is of the essence, as the current surface transportation bill expires on Sept 30.

NEW Mexico Supreme Court rules gas stations can be liable for drunk
driving by The divided court detailed a precedent-setting ruling that applies to
gasoline merchants & businesses like auto parts stores, tire shops & mechanics.
Those merchants could be forbidden from selling products to people who then
drive drunk. Only one other state, TN, applies the law in such a way to create a
"duty of care for businesses to withhold fuel to drunk drivers due to the dangers
associated with driving under the influence. The decision from the court is a
response to a request from a federal appeals court to resolve a question of state
law concerning the potential liability of a retailer that sold gasoline to a drunk
driver in 2011. The driver pulled onto the hwy after purchasing gas, crossed the
center line & crash into an oncoming vehicle, killing one person. "Gasoline is
required to operate most vehicles today. Providing gasoline to an intoxicated

driver is like providing car keys to an intoxicated driver," the majority wrote.

DICTATOR NEWSOM BANS MOTORCYCLES— By Jensen Beeler AsphaltandRubber.com You may have already seen
where CA Gov Newsom issued an executive order that will require all new cars & passenger trucks sold in the Golden
State to be zero-emission vehicles by the year 2035. The order also goes on to say that the state will phase out all new
medium & heavy-duty trucks that are not zero-emissions by the year 2045, thus setting up the state to push electric
vehicles onto its roadways in a big way. There is a third provision in this executive order though, & it is getting far less
attention than the other 2, it will greatly impact the motorcycle industry. This is because Newsom’s executive order also
says that by 2035 CA will ban the sale of all new off-road vehicles that are not zero-emissions, where feasible.
Effectively, CA has just set an expiration date on the sale of new dirt bikes, side-by-sides, & ATVs within its
borders. This executive order applies only to the sale of new vehicles, & does not stop one from owning a gasoline or
diesel-powered vehicle, nor does it stop one’s ability to sell a used gas or diesel-powered vehicle to a private party.
What the order stops though is the ability for manufacturers to build & sell new non-zero emissions vehicles in the
State of CA, including what is being sold by the powersports industry for off-road use. With CA accounting for a large
portion of the off-road sector sales in the US, the Golden State holds tremendous sway over powersport OEMs. As
such, Newsom’s order will likely force powersport manufacturers to finally take electric vehicles more seriously, which
will likely see a rippling effect in other states in the USA. Source: Office of Governor, CA

CA SMOG INSPECTORS TO CHECK FOR ILLEGALLY TUNED VEHICLES--Beginning July 19, CA’s Bureau of Auto
Repair may fail motor vehicles during their “smog check” inspection if they are found to have software modifications
(tunes) not provided by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or approved through a CA Air Resources Board
(CARB) Executive Order (EO). These changes have generated significant concern within the enthusiast community,
along with some misinformation. In CA, a vehicle’s software is considered part of its emissions system. Therefore, any
modification to the vehicle’s software requires approval from the state through CARB’s EO process to be considered
legal. However, the state will now check to make sure your vehicle’s software is factory-stock or has received an
approved EO from CARB. If not, your vehicle may fail its smog check. The SEMA Action Network (SAN) is working
with BAR to ensure that vehicles modified legally do not inadvertently fail. BAR anticipates approximately 5-10
vehicles will fail each day for illegally modified software. For context, BAR inspects approximately 1 million vehicles
each month as part of the smog check program. Roughly 10,000 of these inspections result in failures due to problems
other than modified software. In other words, BAR expects very few vehicles to fail for illegally modified software. If
your vehicle fails for illegally modified software, it must be restored to an OEM setup or CARB EO approved software
configuration before it may be retested. If your vehicle fails for illegally modified software and you believe it is already
an OEM setup or CARB EO approved, you may schedule an appointment with the Referee for further inspection. If you
unknowingly purchased a vehicle with illegally modified software, you may file a complaint with BAR.

NEWS FROM THE BIKERNET BLOG --People believe the electric car, truck & motorcycle industry is just beginning &
the customer base for them is yet to compete with gasoline fans. Have a look at Curtiss offering an incredibly
unmatched luxury electric motorcycle model, slimmest, most balanced, 120 HP (expected price $90,000). It has no
digital connectivity, screens, apps, etc found in today's EV cars & motorcycles. I love that idea - pure motorcycling, no
gadgets - it is the kind of originality the electric motorcycle industry needs. Premium German auto brand Audi has
announced that they won't be developing any petrol / diesel cars after 2025 & only the old models would be available
for sale. The production & sale of the last models of 2025 will be stopped by 2030.

Recreational Trails Program Wins Funding Increase in House Approved Bill -- The US House of Reps passed a $715
billion transportation bill, including up to 75% increased funding for the Recreational Trails Program. The RTP funds
trail development, maintenance, & educational materials nationwide. The multibillion "INVEST in America Act" would
spend heavily on road, rail, public transit, & water projects over yrs. Proponents of sweeping infrastructure legislation
hope that Congress can complete work on it before Oct 1 & send it to President Biden for signing into law. The RTP is
funded with gas tax dollars that powersports enthusiasts pay each time they fuel up off-Hwy vehicles. The RTP
currently has a funding level of $84 million, & Schloegel said that the budget is long overdue for a significant boost –
particularly with the double-digit growth in new-unit OHV sales since the spring of 2020, & the nation's increasing
interest in powersports recreation. "It is estimated that we pay nearly $300 million in off-road gas taxes each year. We
appreciate that the House agrees that more of those dollars should be put into recreational trails." –MIC

ELECTRIC SHORTS OUT--Electric Vehicle Lawsuit: Prolonged Driving While Sitting on Giant Battery Caused
Electromagnetic Radiation Injury --- Electric Vehicle owner Tater has filed a lawsuit against Nissan N America, Inc. in
the US District Court of GA. He seeks up to $10 million from Nissan stating that his electric vehicle permanently
damaged his health & destroyed his family & career. Tater claims that his 2015 Nissan Leaf caused serious health
problems from prolonged driving while sitting on the giant battery that emitted large amounts of low-frequency
electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation. --NMA

https://www.tn.gov/education/textbook-services/textbook-laws-rules-and-policies.html In 1925, TN passed a law that banned teachers from
teaching evolution or denying the Biblical account of mankind’s origin. That year, a high school teacher was arrested &
found guilty. It was an appalling assault on science, but remained on the books, for 2 more generations, until 1967
when another teacher was dismissed for teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution to a high school science class. He
fought & was able to get the law rescinded, citing his 1st Amendment right to free speech. This summer, TN was back
at it. Its Republican state lawmakers pressured their public health dept to fire its top vaccine official & banned outreach
to children for all vaccines, not just COVID. Its Governor refused to be photographed getting his vaccine & 3 million
doses were returned to the federal stockpile, despite the fact that cases had tripled in a month & only 38% of the state
was fully vaccinated. “We’re sort of grinding to a halt. The people who want it have gotten it,” said a spokesperson.
Rep Senator Romney bluntly stated that the politicization of vaccination by members of his party was “an outrage” &
“moronic”. & AL Gov, Rep Ivey, finally publicly broke with her Southern anti-vax peers & said: “Folks are supposed to
have common sense. It’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks
that are letting us down.”

MO has banned health authorities from quarantining sick people or those exposed to COVID – thus reversing a public
health measure initiated in the 14th century to halt the plague. ND has banned state health authorities from requiring a
face covering for any reason, including for tuberculosis or other highly infectious airborne diseases. AL Rep Brooks
claims masks carry “cancer & other health risks”. Rep Taylor Greene of GA, compared volunteers who are going door
to door to encourage people to get vaccinated as Nazi-era “brown shirts”. NC Rep Cawthorn took that idiocy to a whole
other level: “Think about what those mechanisms could be used for.

They could then go door-to-door to take your guns. They could go door-to-door to take your Bibles.” A recent survey
revealed that now 1 in 5 Americans believe that the government is using the vaccine to plant "microchip" tracking
devices into people. Fox TV Presidential wanna-be, Tucker Carlson, told his audience of 2 million to control people
wearing masks which, he believes, are signs of “political obedience”, not health care measures. He believes making
children wear masks is “child abuse” & parents should be reported. Clearly, America’s biggest health risk is not the
pandemic or cancer or heart disease. It’s superstition, ignorance, religious beliefs, & elected representatives with the
collective IQ of my neck size. The US should make vaccinations mandatory, as Germany is considering, & as China, S
Korea, & others require. Spare me the argument that lockdowns, vaccinations, & social distancing are unconstitutional
because they remove liberty. So do stop signs, speeding tickets, & laws against fraud & murder. Freedom is the right
to swing your arm, but not hit anybody else with it. And mask-less morons threaten everybody else as well as
businesses, the economy, society, & the nation-state.

NEW FROM THE BIKERNET BLOG-- HD exited Indian market after 10 yrs of work,
believing it is not selling enough. Compared to other premium performance motorcycles
such as Triumph, Polaris Indian, BMW, it definitely sold enough models every yr. I mean, surely, they didn't expect to
sell million units like small capacity commuter motorcycles or the smaller engine Enfield which costs one-tenth of a
Sportster. To show you how despite pandemic economy how much demand there is for luxury cars & expensive
motorcycles, have a look at the below news. Keep in mind that petrol in India is at an all-time-high of Rs. 100 per litre.
Meaning 1 gallon regular petrol costs US $5. Honda GoldWing comes as a complete unit imported to India just like the
expensive touring models of HD or Polaris Indian. It carries the similar price tag of Rupees 4 million that is seen in
Road King or Chief models. Suzuki Hayabusa also gets imported as a complete unit. No local assembly. Import duties
apply for each unit. Rs 40 lakh 2021 Honda Gold Wing sold out in India in just 24 hours. Powering this full-fledged

HANG ON FOR THE EUROPEAN REGULATORS--Europe plans aggressive new laws to phase out fossil fuels. The
legislation is expected to be in sharp contrast to vague aspirations by various other countries to neutralize their
emissions by midcentury. from NY Times --- European officials are preparing to introduce ambitious legislation
designed to wean one of the world’s biggest & most polluting economies off fossil fuels far more quickly than other
nations have pledged to do. The proposals could include phasing out coal as an electricity source as well as imposing
tariffs on polluting imports — an idea with the potential to set off global trade disputes. The European Commission’s
package of around a dozen legislative proposals is designed to swiftly reduce the emissions of planet-warming gases
& meet an ambitious climate goal, already enshrined in law: The 27-nation bloc has said it will cut its emissions of
greenhouse gases by 55% by 2030, compared with 1990 levels.

The proposals, known as “Fit for 55,” are just that — proposals. They will take many months to negotiate among the 27
member countries & the European Parliament before becoming law. & they will most certainly invite scrutiny of
Europe’s own reliance on extracting & burning fossil fuels in its own territories, from oil & gas drilling in the N Sea to
coal mining in countries like Germany & Poland. The most contentious element is something called a border carbon
adjustment tax. It would impose tariffs on the greenhouse gas emissions associated with products imported from
outside the European Union &, in effect, would protect European companies from goods made in countries with less-
stringent climate policies. Among the products that it could target, according to a draft leaked in June, are steel,
cement, iron & fertilizers. This carbon border tax could not only shake up global trade & invite a dispute over
protectionism in the World Trade Organization, it could also create new diplomatic fault lines before international
climate talks taking place in Glasgow in Nov. All eyes are on targets set by the US & China, which currently produces
the largest share of greenhouse gases, &, more important, how they will get there.

China & India have publicly criticized the idea of a carbon border tax. Japan isn’t keen. And the US has said
only that it is evaluating the idea of its own carbon border tax. Exactly which products the tax would target is still
unclear. The US, for instance, is particularly concerned about the potential effect on American-produced steel, & it
remains to be seen whether the border tax proposal would take into account the carbon emissions intensity of imported
steel. The US is in a tricky position with respect to a prospective European border tax. The Biden administration is
keen to restore trans-Atlantic alliances, including on climate change. And yet, with no prospect of carbon pricing
legislation in the US, several U.S. companies could be vulnerable. The Biden administration has dangled the prospect
of a carbon border tax of its own, though its prospects would likely be dim in a divided Congress. “It’s not off the table,
certainly, in any of the discussions,” the White House climate adviser, Gina McCarthy, said Tuesday at a conference
organized by Bloomberg. “There are many ways in which you could look at a carbon border adjustment as an
opportunity here.” Other aspects of the legislative package are likely to be contentious within the European 27-country
bloc itself. Efforts to phase out the sales of new internal combustion engine cars for instance are likely to face
objections from some European carmakers. (Bloomberg reported this week that France opposed a proposed 2035 ban
on new gas-burning car sales.) Efforts to phase out coal from electricity generation are likely to face opposition from
countries with large coal operations, like Poland & Hungary.

EMISSION-FREE MOTORCYCLES PLAY KEY ROLE IN U.K. TRANSPORTATION PLAN The British government
plans to ban the sale of gasoline-powered motorcycles, & from 2035 all new motorcycles must be zero emission, with
powered 2-wheelers (PTW) set to play a key role in a new Government Transport Decarbonisation Plan following years
of behind the scenes campaigning from the Motorcycle Industry Asso (MCIA). The Dept for Transport announced the
radical new plan earlier this month, which pledges to end the sale of all new, non-zero emission road vehicles by 2040
at the latest, as well as phasing out the sale of all new non-zero emission heavy goods vehicles in that timeframe. The
220-page DfT plan states that the government will "consult this yr on a phase out date of 2035, or earlier if a faster
transition appears feasible, for the sale of new non-zero emission powered 2 & 3 wheelers." "Motorcycles, scooters &
other forms of Powered Light Vehicles will play a key role & we are extremely happy this has now been recognized,"
said MCIA chief executive Tony Campbell, adding that "Only a fool would think that the motorcycling sector could be
treated separately from everything else going on in the world."

MORE COUNTRIES BANNING GAS-POWERED MOTORCYCLES It seems that more & more nations are beginning
to adopt a policy of allowing only brand new electric-powered vehicles to be sold in their jurisdictions in the near future,
& now Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest motorcycle market with more than 112-million motorcycles on its busy
streets, has declared that no more new internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles should be sold in the country by
2050. Singapore also adopted a similar policy by banning motorcycles they consider “old” from their streets by 2028.
India, as well as some European nations, had already enacted similar measures earlier. Now, Canada is the newest
country that’s taking on drastic measures to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions. In a recent announcement
from the Canadian government agency they are accelerating the complete eradication of ICE-powered vehicles by
outlawing them by 2035 -- which is 5-yrs earlier than the original 2040 plan. “Today, we take another important step on
the road to net zero by accelerating our zero-emission vehicle targets to 2035,” said Seamus O’Regan Jr.

MANDATORY MOTORCYCLE INSPECTIONS MAY HIT EUROPE IN 2023 The idea of mandatory periodic technical
inspections (PTI) for motorcycles in Europe has been looming for some time now, since 2104, but new info indicates
this legislation could be coming sooner than expected. In fact, the Ministry of Transport has confirmed it is preparing a
decree in the Council of State to establish a date & basic parameters for inspections starting in 2023. European
Parliament wants mandatory inspections for motorized 2-wheelers in every state of the European Union, while the
Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Asso (FEMA) argues that such a Europe-wide law is unnecessary, citing
existing inspection regulations, a low risk of accidents due to technical defects, & possible collusion with inspection
companies. A typical PTI is expected to include a visual inspection of running gear (lights, tires, brakes, etc.), as well
as a sound inspection & pollution test, to be performed at a certified inspection station. However, at this time, it is
unclear how often these checks will happen & what the exact details will be.

AUSTRALIAN CLIMATE STUDY-- Published in the journal Global Change Biology--BRISBANE, Australia. Wild pigs may seem like
a fairly innocent part of nature, but a new study finds they’re actually having a bigger impact on climate change than
the emissions of one million cars. Researchers from the University of Queensland say by uprooting carbon trapped in
soil, the feral porkers are releasing around 4.9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually across the globe. That’s
the equivalent of 1.1 million automobiles. An international research team used predictive population models along with
advanced mapping techniques to pinpoint the climate damage wild pigs are causing across 5 continents. Dr. O’Bryan
warns that the world’s ever-expanding population of feral pigs could be a “significant threat” to the climate. “Wild pigs
are just like tractors ploughing through fields, turning over soil to find food. When soils are disturbed from humans
ploughing a field or, in this case, from wild animals uprooting, carbon is released into the atmosphere. Since soil
contains nearly 3 times as much carbon than in the atmosphere, even a small fraction of carbon emitted from soil has
the potential to accelerate climate change,” the study author continues. “Our models show a wide range of outcomes,
but they indicate that wild pigs are most likely currently uprooting an area of around 36,000 to 124,000 square
kilometers, in environments where they’re not native. This is an enormous amount of land, & this not only affects soil
health & carbon emissions, but it also threatens biodiversity & food security that are crucial for sustainable
development.” Wild pig populations are a global problem (CREDIT: The University of Queensland)

https://www.fairus.org/issues/illegal-immigration Each year, hundreds of thousands of aliens deliberately violate our nation’s
laws by unlawfully crossing US borders. This kind of illegal entry is a misdemeanor. When repeated after deportation, it
becomes a felony. Fast Facts: Illegal migration costs the American taxpayer appx $132 billion annually, & could
exceed $200 billion by 2025. --- There are at least appx 14.3 million illegal aliens in the US as of 2019, a jump of
nearly 2 million people since 2017. --- There are 564 lawless “sanctuary” jurisdictions throughout the US as of May
2018. --- In Fiscal Year 2019, the Border Patrol apprehended a near-record 860,000 illegal aliens nationwide, of
which 852,000 -99% were caught while attempting to cross the Southwestern border. -- Illegal aliens are typically at
least 3 times more likely to be incarcerated than citizens & legal immigrants. Illegal Immigration & its Effects on the
Lives of Americans 2 types of illegal aliens exist in the US today. Those who illegally enter the country are referred to

as EWIs. Those who enter legally & then stay illegally are referred to as over-stayers. Illegal
immigration is not a victimless crime. The consequences of illegal immigration are far-reaching:
Illegal Immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds --- The needs of endless nus of
poor, unskilled illegal entrants undermine the quality of education, healthcare & other services
for Americans --- Job-desperate illegal immigrants unfairly depress the wages & working
conditions offered to American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers & those without high
school degrees. -- Illegal immigration contributes to population growth, overwhelming
communities by crowding classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, &
increasing the strain on precious natural resources like water, energy, & forestland. -- Illegal
Immigration undermines national security, allowing potential terrorists to hide in the same
shadows Previous admin policies & hold outs in the current admin are constraining authorities
from detaining & deporting most illegal aliens except for those with criminal convictions or
threats to the national security.
