And it was said, let there be light...

The transformation from dark to light has been completed! The hole has been punched in the wall separating the Grill Lounge
and the lobby. And suddenly, there was natural sunlight glowing throughout the lobby area of the club. Although, the upstairs
level of the club is in a bit of disarray; in fact a lot of disarray at this point in the construction process.

The Grill Lounge as you knew it a few weeks ago is in process of
a bar face lift. The face lift also includes the lobby, a new bar top,
decorative rock work, a beautifully designed back bar, new
overhead lighting and a top bar with a natural stain finish. Both
the bar and the lobby are all part of the new look. The best
description is simple elegance!

The club is in the “shut down” mode at this time for deep
cleaning and the construction and upgrade of the bar and the
lobby. The club will reopen on March 15th with full dinner
service in Mulligan’s Tavern. Join us for St. Patty’s Day Dinner
Friday and Saturday, March 15 & 16.

In an effort to try and be fiscally responsible, and at the same
time, provide our members with the service they expect,
Mulligan's Tavern and upstairs dining will be offered based on
proximity of when the golf course opens. There will be both food
and beverage services every day Wednesday through Saturday
until the weather allows us to anticipate the opening date for
your golf course. On Sundays, the Breakfast Buffet will be
served until 1:00 p.m until Memorial Day. Please stop by and get
a firsthand look at the wonderful new look of the upstairs
of the clubhouse!

PROJECT GRIP; WHY THE OVERLAP GRIP POSITION?

Knowing that many of our avid golfers at the LCC have been thinking about this over the winter, allow me to answer a question
that has lingered since our season ended last fall:  Why do Jim and Joe steer so many golfers toward the overlap (Vardon style)
grip?  The main reason why we encourage the majority of our golfers to use the overlap grip position is because it allows full
contact, i.e. all fingers and thumb of your lead hand, on the golf club.

A majority of our golfers fail to return the clubface back to square at impact.  Using the overlap grip allows for your maximum
hand strike with a minimum of effort more consistently.  Said differently, most of our golfers need to use more hand action
during the forward swing.  Unless you are among the 5% of all golfers who can actually hook the ball, you likely need a more
aggressive striking motion with your hands through the impact zone.  The overlap grip position is your best bet for this task.

Make the Golf Shop your first stop for a spring “grip wellness” check.  Our goal is to cure the world’s golfing ailments, one grip at a
time!  See you soon!!

BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL BLUEPRINT FOR LOWER SCORES

What is “success” in golf?  If, by definition, the object of the game of golf (Rule 1-1) is to get the ball to come to rest in the hole in as
few strokes as possible, “success” would equate to lower scores. Some golfers, sadly, equate success in golf to many other things.
Examples include finding 4-6 golf balls during each round, hitting one tee shot per round that out-distances everybody else in
your group, receiving no work-related phone calls during any given round, etc.  Bottom line: lower scores=success in golf.  (And
more fun along the way!)

The quickest and easiest way to lower your scores is to improve your putting; specifically, by improving your distance control.
Most three-putt scenarios are caused by misjudging your first putt and being left with 6-10 feet for your second putt.  The golfer
who cannot stop the ball near the hole from distances of 30, 40 and 50 feet may as well pick the ball up and add three strokes to
their score for the three putts they would likely incur from that position on the green.  Don’t be that golfer!  Don’t accept defeat
when you simply don’t have to.

Contact Joe or Jim, your PGA Professionals, for advice on how to improve your distance putting.  We can prescribe some fun
practice drills that will allow you to develop confidence and lower your scores at the same time.  In principle, putting should be
very easy.  Aim it and roll it.  Learn to be the best distance putter in your group.  Your lower scores will make the effort well
worth it!

Events & Catering News

Things are quiet on the event side right now since the Club is closed.

The construction of the remodel of the lobby and bar has been the highlight of our weeks so far. Things are coming along and we
are getting more and more excited for the update each day.

Engagement season is no longer in its peak and things have been quiet on the wedding booking front, but I am focusing a lot on
the weddings we have booked this year. I have been meeting with brides and event coordinators to get things planned out and
we have been taking care of food tastings, bar choices, setup and timelines. Our first wedding is the weekend we reopen,
March 16th.

During this shutdown period, I have also been working with my staff to complete cleaning projects such as cleaning woodwork,
painting and organizing. This is our time to tidy up the Club so it is ready for the season. We are also working on hiring, ordering
uniforms, and training the staff. Good news for us and all of you: we have a lot of returning staff upstairs so you will see a lot of
familiar faces again this year! Thank you all for your continued support of the Club, weddings and events!!

With February coming to a close and March being here, we are getting things cleaned up here during shutdown and are looking
forward to reopening.

With a Saint Patrick’s Day Breakfast Buffet and corned beef and cabbage special the week of Saint Patrick’s Day, make sure you
make it out when we reopen. With March here and spring around the corner, we will start to see some really nice wild
vegetables starting to come in whether it be ramps, a wild onion, claytonia, a really nice wild greens, fiddlehead ferns, an earthy
unique vegetable, or a local favorite - morel mushrooms. Look for these items on specials over the coming months and if you have
not tried them before, I recommend doing so.

I hope this winter is starting to draw to a close. We are getting excited and ready to get out on the course and start seeing some
golf being played. However, before the season begins, it looks like we may break a record for snowfall in the area. Mother Nature
has surprised us with this large amount of snowfall after keeping the snow to a minimum until after the first of the year. It’s
turning out to be one of the snowiest Februarys in La Crosse history, after the 5.6 inches of snow that fell Wednesday, February
20th in the area. Our monthly total is 26.8 inches, making this February the third snowiest February in La Crosse history - only
February of 1936 and 1959 were snowier. The record for the month is currently 31 inches. But with another four to seven inches
of snow possible in the next few weeks, we could continue to inch toward the all-time record. In the past 30 days, La Crosse has
received about 38 inches of snow. To put this into perspective, that’s more snow than has fallen in most calendar months in
La Crosse, except for 39.6 inches in January of 1929.

Enough about the snowfall!! After my first month here, I was taking a minute to reflect on all of the things we have been
working on to get ready for the season.  Mitch and I spent time at the Golf Industry Show conference to start the month of
February, which was a great experience.  It was also a wonderful way to connect and get to know him. We learned several things
and also discovered several ways we can impact the way we operate here at LCC. Since we returned, we have been getting the
equipment ready to go and have been working on putting together a team for the upcoming season. I am looking forward to
meeting many of you in the upcoming weeks as we start to prepare the golf course for the season. Thank you again for
welcoming me to the area; I plan on doing my best for you in the future.
