LEANaero® Bulletin On 17th October 2023, UMW Aerospace committee organized the 4 th UMW LEANaero® SGIA Convention 2023 at Trent meeting room, UMW Aerospace Sdn Bhd. This convention aimed to promote LEAN thinking across department, provide a platform to share LEAN ideas, best practices and recognize the SGIA teams for their contributions throughout the year. 2023 saw participations of 17 SGIA groups from 6 operating departments. There are 70 staff involves from these 6 departments. As for now, there are 80 SGIA group of UMW Aerospace Sdn Bhd, counted from 2019 to 2023. For this internal convention,12 out of 17 teams were selected to compete in 4 th UMW Aerospace Sdn Bhd LEANaero® SGIA Convention 2023. 4th UMW Aerospace Sdn Bhd LEANaero® Internal SGIA Convention 2023 After 12 representatives presented their topics, the judges calculated the scores, leading to the subsequent award ceremony. LEANaero® Bulletin On October 26th, KYBUMW organized their 31st KYBUMW Malaysia LEANaero® Internal SGIA Convention at Multi Function Hall, KYB-UMW Malaysia, Teluk Panglima Garang. This convention aimed to promote lean thinking across department, provide a platform to share lean ideas, best practices and recognize the SGIA teams for their contributions throughout the year. 31st KYB-UMW Malaysia LEANaero® Internal SGIA Convention October 2023 Here are the key takeaways from the event:- 1) Further awareness training on:- • Presentation skills • Use right tools (7 QC tools) • Problem solving methodology • Translate the hard work to clear PowerPoint materials 2) Mentor/senior need to support & engage in SGIA. 3) Revisit SGIA convention by category; non management & management level. Lastly, we extend special thanks to everyone who has contributed to fostering a lean culture and way of life. 26th October 2023 The hall filled with the attendee including managements, SGIA participants and the judges The event was attended by Mr Yuji Ito (Managing Director), Mr Cheow Lip Heng (Senior General Manager), managers, SGIA team and the committee members. For this year, 14 SGIA projects have been listed to the final round. In May, there are 6 SGIA finalists while in October, there are 8 SGIA finalists. The event began with a warm welcome from Mrs Rasidah Abu (Head of Department, QMS), who explained what everyone could expect throughout the event. Then, Q&A session convened. Summary of the project, ensuring halal compliance in production lines enhances product integrity, catering to the dietary and religious preferences of diverse consumers. After that, opening remarks given by Mr Jefrydin Sinteh Head of Operation, UMW M&E Sdn Bhd. This event also attended by Dr Izzal Ismail, Head of Product Innovation (UIRDC), managers, SGIA team and participating staffs from M&E Sdn Bhd and UIRDC. Opening remarks by Mr Jefrydin Sinteh Next up was Mr Wan Hilmi, team leader of BMS team presented their project. Just like before, the Q&A session was done after his presentation ended. In summary, the application contributes to expedited and more effective quality control, ultimately enhancing production efficiency and customer satisfaction. After the two teams present, Mrs Rasidah Abu invited Mr Hisham Ab Samad, the Senior General Manager of UMW M&E Sdn Bhd, to give the appreciation gift to both teams for their outstanding efforts.
