CONTRACEPTION

Contraception methods are aimed at controlling or
preventing a baby from forming. These methods are
carried out due to a couple not being ready, having
too many children and for career reasons. There are a
few methods and instruments of contraception that
can be found in the market.

2 . IMPLANT

▪ The contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) is a
small flexible plastic rod that’s placed under
the skin in your upper arm by a doctor or
nurse. It releases the hormone progestogen
into your bloodstream to prevent pregnancy
and lasts for 3 years.

4 . CONDOM

▪ A condom is a sheath-shaped barrier
device used during sexual intercourse to
reduce the probability of pregnancy or a
sexually trasnsmitted infection. There are
both male and female condoms.

6 . LIGATION

▪ During tubal ligation, the fallopian tubes
are cut, tied and blocked permanently to
prevent pregnancy. Tubal ligation prevents
an egg from travelling from the ovaries
through the fallopian tubes and blocks
sperm from travelling up the fallopian tubes
to the egg. The procedure doesn’t effect a
woman’s menstrual cycle.
