Starting point

We started out with
four different tones
and colors.

Quadrant 1

Start Results

We went in with some highlights. Using bleach and
20 volume developer. I used a very fine weaving
technique.

Quadrant 2

beginning. Results

She started with needing gray coverage. She had
about 25% gray so I used 1/2oz 7nn and 1/2 oz. 5n to
get a level 6 with gray coverage. I took 1/2 inch

subsections starting at her crown.

Quadrant 3

Beginning Results

We started with about a level 9 so to go darker this
color requires a filler to correct for any overly
ashy tones. So I formulated a 3/4oz 5n and 1/40z

5bc to create this neutral brown. I only used 1/4oz
to ensure this color wouldn’t go to warm.

Quadrant 4

Formula used
½ oz 6NB
½ oz 6RB
¼ oz 7GB
¼ oz 8N
A splash of 9NB

Beginning

We used Demi colors to color correct this very
brassy tone. I wanted to play with toners that I
hadn’t before and I wanted to create a beautiful red
warm tone which is why I used mainly 6RB but I
didn’t want I to get to dark or to bright red so I used
the other toners to lighten It and create some depth
to the color.

Inspiration for final hair color

Inspiration for her makeup
application and her final
touches to complete her look.

Inspiration for final haircut

Creating an even canvas
Step 1

My first step was to do a soap cap using 20
volume. I left it on for 10 minuets to start lifting off
the previous color had had deposited. This process
was a lot easier because I used 10 volume so the
colors wouldn’t be permanent.

Step 2
In step 2 I went in and took very thin sub sections, less than 1/4 inch, slicing

and placing in foils staying a 1/2 Inch away from scalp. I used 20 volume on
the ends then once the top and bottom matched I went in and tapped the roots
with 30 making sure not to overlap. I did this starting in my darkest working to
the lightest quadrant. I processed till a pale yellow was achieved, so that my
direct dyes would be more vibrant.

Final step
My last step was to tone her to give me a somewhat
even starting point all over the head. I used 1oz 9GI,
1/2oz 9V, 1/2oz 9B and equal parts clear.

After haircut
I cut a bob with a slight stack in he back. I wanted it
to have a lot of texture and movement so I added a
lot of texturizing.

Adding in final colors
I added in the final colors in sections, keeping my
final results in my mind as I placed the color. I
added in a shadow root using 1/2oz 6RB and 1/2oz
6NB. I did have to go back and brighten a few
pieces up around the front after the first
application.

Before finishing touches.
The results after adding colors.

Fantasy becomes reality

I added some makeup, ears and,
unicorn horn to help create the
finished results
