Welcome

Welcome to Galilee!
In Christ we see each other with eyes of love.
That’s important, particularly as we enter a new decade. “2020” sounds like the future,
but it also sounds like a vision test. Maybe that’s no coincidence at a time when our
denomination and our church (and our country) is challenged by multiple paths
forward.
2020 will be a year of divisive forces. We need Christ’s eyes, eyes filled with love, to
show us the way forward as one body. So in February, we’re going to look at one of my
favorite epistles, Ephesians, to see what it says about vision empowered by God’s love.
Our series is called Vision 2020.
Worship with us each Sunday at Galilee as we focus on the road(s) ahead.

Sundays: Friends in Faith

10:15am · Adult Flex
Led by Bill Johnson
Enter the world of the New Testament. Professors Wright and Bird will
guide you through how to read the New Testament, the world of Jesus
and the early church, deep studies on both Jesus and the Apostle Paul,
lectures on every book of the New Testament, as well as how to live
the story of the New Testament today. There is also an video that will
include on-location sessions.

Sundays: Sunday Small Group

10:15am · Room 202
Led by Chris Richter

In Friend of Sinners, Rich Wilkerson Jr. shows readers the profound implications of
the reality that Jesus calls us friends not because of who we are or what we have
done, but because of who he is. By following his example, we can have the same
clear conviction and compassion for the lost that he did. His gospel of scandalous
grace cannot be overestimated. When we embrace the truth that we all need Jesus
equally and when we trust him to bring transformation in people’s hearts, we will
walk as Jesus walked, experiencing the glory of God in our own lives and in the lives
of those around us.

Women’s Wednesday Morning Study

Led by Emilie Beckelhimer
9:30am - Adult Flex
Many women are wired to control. You’re the ones who make sure
the house is clean, the meals are prepared, the beds are made, the
children are dressed, and everyone gets to work, school, and other
activities on time.
But trying to control everything can be exhausting, and it can also
cause friction with your friends and family.
This humorous, yet thought-provoking book guides you as you discover for yourself the
freedom and reward of living a life “out of control,” in which you allow God to be seated in
the rightful place in your life.

we're not meant to do life
alone.

Thursday Morning Sisters in Christ Study Group

Led by Nancy Epperson
10:00am - Adult Flex
1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month
Dalal Abu Suleiman, an only child and heiress to one of the wealthiest
and the most influential families in Lebanon, comes to know Christ as
her personal Savior, through the influence of her Christian classmate
and next-door neighbor.
The new Christian faith adopted by this pampered teen-age girl—as her name sug-
gests—causes her to lose everything at one point. She is torn from her own home
and country, forsaken by her own mother and family, loses her identity and goes
through the shadow of the valley of death for the sake of Christ
God, in his mercy and grace, is faithful to the girl that loves Him so much, sacri-
fices her life for Him, and endures persecution for His Holy Name, by giving her the
desire of her heart, the man “whom her soul loveth”.

In 2003, the nonprofit organization Helping
Children Worldwide was formed to provide financial
and strategic support to the Child Rescue Centre in
Bo, Sierra Leone. Today, sixteen churches including
Galilee, financially support the newly renamed Child
Reintegration Centre and Mercy Hospital.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

For just $25 a month, you can help a child or youth attend school and receive
the support they need to achieve their awesome God-given potential. The
Child Reintegration Centre supports the education and health care of 600
vulnerable children and youth in Sierra Leone, regardless of their religion or
tribal affiliation.
By providing education fees, uniforms, books, school supplies, health care,
mentoring, and leadership skills, the CRC is giving these children hope for a
much brighter future. The CRC also offers a microfinance program, parenting
classes and other forms of support to the families of the students.
For more information or to choose a child, please call the
church office, 703-430-2203 or email the church office at
[email protected].

Galilee is filled with generous people both in and out of the pews. Donations to
LHR, especially fresh produce, have been very successful and really make a
difference in our Loudoun communities. I hope you are proud of your contribution
to this effort. In 2019 Galilee donated close to 5,000 pounds of produce and shelf-
stable foods.
In 2020, the need is growing as our county is growing. LHR is now holding a Pop-Up
Market every Friday at Sterling Community Center. Good, wholesome foods are needed
to keep that Market available, and to improve the overall health of the community.

Please bring in all donations of FRESH FOOD on the LAST Sunday of each month.

Meet the Pastors

REV. JASON DULEY - SENIOR PASTOR
At Galilee, we talk about “ordinary people” and “extraordinary pur-
pose.” That’s because we believe we’re all just regular people called
to do something beyond the norm. For instance, I’m an
ordinary person—my extraordinary purpose is to shepherd people in
faith, hope, and love.
Everyone has an extraordinary purpose that some time spent in
relationship with God and others can help reveal. I am here to help you discover your
extraordinary purpose and connect your gifts with that purpose.
I invite you to connect with me at Galilee.
[email protected]

REV. GEITRA MICKELSON - ASSOCIATE PASTOR
Geitra Mickelson, Galilee’s newest addition to our clergy staff, is an
Ohio native who comes to our church with a background in music,
education, and theater. Active in church throughout her life, Geitra
responded to the call to ministry here in Virginia, where she has
lived since 2001.
“I responded to a call when God’s love convicted my heart. I’m
eager to share that love with a hurt and broken world. Jesus has
made all the difference in my life, and I believe he can make a
difference in yours—no matter what!”
“My goal is to work alongside others who are passionately committed to helping those in
need.”
Geitra serves in Galilee’s ministries and at the Chapel at Lansdowne Woods, and is
pursuing the completion of her Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary.
