Welcome
At Christmas, we’re invited into the light of Christ.
Many of us do feel a renewed sense of holiness and mission when we hear the beloved
Christmas story. We start the new year with the best of intentions. With resolution, even.
To begin to grow in faith is, for some, the most difficult part. We ruminate, procrastinate,
and might even fail with our first steps. We get stuck in the muck. That’s OK, because God
meets us in the mess. He sent his Son to show us the way.
Our worship series in January is “Begin.” We’re starting the year with Biblical stories of
new beginnings. It’ll be messy, but there is inspiration in the example of Adam and Eve,
Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sarah, and more.
“Begin!” Start to focus on what matters each Sunday at Galilee.

Women’s Wednesday Morning Study
Led by Emilie Beckelhimer
9:30am - Adult Flex - Begins January 8
Many women are wired to control. You’re the ones who make sure
the house is clean, the meals are prepared, the beds are made, the
children are dressed, and everyone gets to work, school, and other
activities on time.
But trying to control everything can be exhausting, and it can also
cause friction with your friends and family.
This humorous, yet thought-provoking book guides you as you discover for yourself the
freedom and reward of living a life “out of control,” in which you allow God to be seated in
the rightful place in your life.
we're not meant to do life
alone.

You’ll explore Scripture, engage in discussion, encounter character-building in-
sights—and uncover what it means to live a life of true significance.

Led by Nancy Epperson
10:00am - Adult Flex
1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month
Dalal Abu Suleiman, an only child and heiress to one of the wealthiest
and the most influential families in Lebanon, comes to know Christ as
her personal Savior, through the influence of her Christian classmate
and next-door neighbor.
The new Christian faith adopted by this pampered teen-age girl—as her name sug-
gests—causes her to lose everything at one point. She is torn from her own home
and country, forsaken by her own mother and family, loses her identity and goes
through the shadow of the valley of death for the sake of Christ
God, in his mercy and grace, is faithful to the girl that loves Him so much, sacri-
fices her life for Him, and endures persecution for His Holy Name, by giving her the
desire of her heart, the man “whom her soul loveth”.

Meet the Pastors
REV. JASON DULEY - SENIOR PASTOR
At Galilee, we talk about “ordinary people” and “extraordinary pur-
pose.” That’s because we believe we’re all just regular people called
to do something beyond the norm. For instance, I’m an
ordinary person—my extraordinary purpose is to shepherd people in
faith, hope, and love.
Everyone has an extraordinary purpose that some time spent in
relationship with God and others can help reveal. I am here to help you discover your
extraordinary purpose and connect your gifts with that purpose.
I invite you to connect with me at Galilee.

REV. GEITRA MICKELSON - ASSOCIATE PASTOR
Geitra Mickelson, Galilee’s newest addition to our clergy staff, is an
Ohio native who comes to our church with a background in music,
education, and theater. Active in church throughout her life, Geitra
responded to the call to ministry here in Virginia, where she has
lived since 2001.
“I responded to a call when God’s love convicted my heart. I’m
eager to share that love with a hurt and broken world. Jesus has
made all the difference in my life, and I believe he can make a
difference in yours—no matter what!”
“My goal is to work alongside others who are passionately committed to helping those in
need.”
Geitra serves in Galilee’s ministries and at the Chapel at Lansdowne Woods, and is
pursuing the completion of her Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary.
