Message from the
Head of School
Angelica R. Fernandez de Castro
Dear Domuschola community,
It is difficult to imagine that we are on the last month of our school year. This year
has been a very eventful year. The resumption of face-to-face classes last February
has been the highlight of our academic year. We are slowly seeing the end of the
pandemic and our school is going back to normal. I hope our students benefitted
much from these past weeks.
Before we get even busier, I would just like to share with you the important dates to
remember:
To all the mothers in our community, a warm Mother’s Day greeting to you! May you
have a wonderful celebration on Sunday!
To all the Filipinos, I encourage you to exercise your right to vote on Monday.
Have a restful long weekend ahead!
PRIMARY SCHOOL 2
Art Wrap Up
As we approach the end of the school year, students of the Lower Primary
continue to exhibit their creativity by embarking on more hand-building
projects.
In an inquiry into the rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share
finite resources, focusing on the central idea of plants sustaining life, the
Visual Arts integration highlighted the concept of landscape paintings
including the different ways it can be achieved and known artists in the
field.
The students of Kinder took inspiration from the works of Georgia
O’Keefe who is known for her landscape paintings and close-up, detailed
works of flowers and plants. In these activities, students explored the
technique of paper tearing to make mountain compositions and drawing
from life where they had to observe and copy just by using their hand-eye
coordination.
PRIMARY SCHOOL 3
The Grade 1 students, on the other hand, learned about skyscrapers as
integration to their inquiry on structures and buildings. To enhance their
fine motor skills, students were tasked to design their skyscrapers
through the cut and paste method.
The students of Grade 2 exhibited their knowledge and skills in layout
and composition in creating their digital scrapbooks. This is in relation to
their inquiry about records and how it helps people understand history.
Aside from learning the varying ways art can serve as a form of record in
itself, the students also learned that inquiring about their personal
experiences and archiving them is considered a way of documenting what
is truly important.

Grade 10
On April 27, 2022, the Domuschola International School Student Council
held its final All-Secondary creative event. Despite the newly-introduced
hybrid learning setup, this event was held over Zoom on that fine
Wednesday morning. All Secondary School grade levels were present and
represented as both audience and stars of the show, namely, Drama-
schola Productions.
Weeks before the event proper, the Council released an announcement of
the Secondary School grade levels’ musical film assignments. Internally,
these assignments were made by the Class Representatives’ spinning of a
wheel, which resulted in Grade 6A being assigned to portray Beauty and
the Beast; Grade 6B performing their rendition of Rio; Grade 7 with The
Jungle Book; Grade 8 with The Lion King; Grade 9 with the newly-
released and immensely popular, Encanto; Grade 10 with Tangled; Grade
11 with Moana; and Grade 12 with the only non-cartoon film, Mamma Mia!
Upon this announcement of assignments, excitement built up within the
school community as students were anticipated to sing or lip-sync,
dance, and act their hearts out according to their respective films.
Speaking as a Domuscholian, a member of the Student Council, and as the
SSE Head too, I take great pride in acknowledging and appreciating all of
the hard work that went into the success of this project. This event was
executed by the School Spirit and Events (SSE) Committee with the
direction of the event’s Project Head, Prabhjit Kandola; myself as SSE
Head; and our Student Council officers: President, Aika Kimishima; Vice
President, Florian Cura; and Public Relations Officer, Keirsten Francisco.

Furthermore, this project was not just a display of all of the Secondary
School’s talents and initiatives but was also an honorable example of all of
the class representatives’ leadership as they guided their classmates
through their video productions.
The day of the event proper eventually came, and the curtains were
raised: Time to watch all the submissions! The event had been
conceptualized to be a “block screening” of all of the different grade
levels’ masterpieces. The scene recreations to dance numbers, and
performances from the Grades 6 to 12 students were thoroughly enjoyed
by the Secondary School community. Had we been face-to-face, I am
confident that all acts would have garnered standing ovations
STUDENT LIFE 6
Though all submissions were “award-winning,” the event eventually came
to a point of conclusion and all participants had to cast their votes. Out of
good fun, all present students and teachers voted for the “best”
performance via Google Forms. Especially since there were no particular
criteria, this part of the event certainly came as a challenge as all
performances were truly enjoyable. However, the award for the “Best
Performance” was fairly and rightfully awarded to...
Once again, a huge congratulations to our Grade 12 students. The
Secondary community has so much love and respect for our Seniors. To
honor the winners of the competition, the rest of us Secondary students
collectively took the initiative to donate to the Student Council’s Typhoon
Odette Relief Initiative (TORI) on their behalf.
Reflecting on the event, I believe that the Student Council and the SS
community would stand by me in saying that this event was a remarkable
success. As with all of our events, the Student Council curated this
program with the intention of further building on our community’s
camaraderie and tight-knit relationships. As the stressful final
examination season creeps up on all of us, we also yearned to simulate a
sanctuary and opportunity for relaxation for our fellow students,
teachers, and staff. Furthermore, the initiative to collectively make a
donation to a good cause is truly a heartwarming aspect of this event’s
outcome.

With the school year swiftly approaching its end, we look back on and
look forward to all of the blessings and opportunities we are fortunate to
have within our reach. When given the chance to, we are grateful for the
ability to extend these to those in need and well-deserving of such.
With the curtain nearly closing on this SY 2021-2022, on behalf of the DIS
Student Council, I would like to say a huge thank you—one beyond words
—to all those who have shown us immense support this past year. Break a
leg on all of your future endeavors, Domuscholians!

Worldwide, International Mother's Day will be celebrated on 08 May 2022, this year.
It is a day to celebrate motherhood and appreciate the unconditional love,
contributions, and sacrifices of mothers and mother figures. Without them, our lives
are incomplete and the way a mother takes care of her children tirelessly is
commendable.
A mother's world always revolves around their children. They are on duty 24/7
without taking leaves and are always on their toes juggling both house and office
work. In the midst of all these, mothers tend to forget about their health. So, on this
Mother's Day, we share some healthy tips for busy moms.
1. Avoid skipping breakfast Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the
day because it provides your body with energy that gets you going throughout the
day. Health experts advise eating a substantial well-balanced breakfast to provide
energy as soon as you wake up in the morning. Have a bowl of oats topped with fruits
or nuts and a glass of fruit juice.

2. Exercise no matter how busy your day is, take some time out and
exercise to boost your physical and mental health. It will help relieve
stress, strengthen your immunity and clear out your mind. Try exercising
in the morning for 15 minutes and if you don't get the time, schedule your
exercise for the evening.
3. Make time for yourself. Just as a healthy diet is necessary for optimal
health and well-being, self-care is equally important. Indulge yourself in
an extravagant skincare routine for 30 minutes to 1 hour every Sunday.
You can also enjoy a long relaxing bubble bath or cuddle up in bed and
read a book.
