Message from the
Head of School
Angelica R. Fernandez de Castro
Dear Domuschola Community,
T his week was indeed an exciting one! As we move closer and closer to reopening the
school, I could really feel everyone’s enthusiasm in getting your children ready. Thank
you for attending last Wednesday’s Parent Orientation. There were many questions
asked, and I hope we were able to answer them all.
Last Tuesday, we had our Primary School Open House. Thank you for sharing the invite
with your family and friends. There were quite a few interested parents who attended,
with a couple coming after to tour the school. We’ll be having our Secondary School
Open House on Friday next week, February 18, at 9:00 am. I hope you can also share
this information with others who wish to be a part of our school community.
We are really happy to finally open the school after 2 years of DIStance learning. We
have been receiving inquiries from parents of children whose schools are not yet open.
We are proud to be the only private school in Pasig City that passed the very strict
requirements of DepEd.
Finally, we wish to invite you to a Parent Coffee on Thursday, February 17, at 9:00 am.
We would like to share with you the highlights of our year so far, what can be expected
in the remaining months of the year, and our preparations for next school year. We hope
to see you all then!
Have a restful weekend ahead!
PRIMARY SCHOOL 2
The lower primary students in Mandarin class have been
introduced to traditions and stories from Chinese New Year
celebrations and family life. Students discovered how human history
and culture shaped modern practices around Lunar New Year.
Through simple activities and videos, students understood and
described some practices surrounding Lunar New Year in China and
other East Asian countries. In doing so, students reflected on the
significance of the Lunar New year for communities who celebrate.
Lastly, in Chinese stories with family themes, students were able to
find out beliefs and values embedded in the culture.

Council and the Secondary School Service Learning Program have
joined efforts in initiating a fund and donation drive to give
assistance to our brothers and sisters.
Throughout the month of January, the Student Council Officers and
Class Representatives have continuously aimed to encourage their
classmates and family members to donate and spread awareness
about this project. With our collective efforts, we have raised a total
of Php 28,101.00 in monetary donations that will be equally divided
between beneficiaries from Cebu and Malitbog. On the other hand,
in-kind donations included used clothes, Korean books, and canned
goods.Collected food items will be distributed through the Tanging
Yaman Foundation to families located in the Visayas and Mindanao
regions.
As we intend this to be a longitudinal initiative, we are seeking
continued support and enthusiasm from the whole community as we
aim to reach our goal of surpassing the money we have raised each
month. You may send in your monetary donations to the DIS SC
GCash (QR code can be found on the following publication material)
while in-kind donations can be sent directly to the DIS Campus.
Moreover, future projects of the Student Council will hone in on the
aspect of fundraising to ensure that we are constantly bringing
urgency and awareness to this pressing concern.
STUDENT LIFE 5
We would like to extend our eternal gratitude for all the aid and zeal
that the DIS community has shown in our initiative and we are
hoping to raise more donations to give to those who are in need.

ut making a donation.
It is about making a difference”

Dead Flowers Still Grow Roots
By: Prabh Kandola
To love someone abidingly is to attend the celebration of the people they
used to be a thousand times after they have left this materialistic world.
I know a flower shop that has stayed in the same spot for years in the
neighborhood in my grandmother’s place. She sends me there sometimes
to pick flowers for when she wants to decorate the dining room but I
never understood why she would buy them from there. Grandma always
kept a garden full of all the flowers you could possibly think existed in the
plowed field that extended behind her house. You could sit there in the
morning or under the big patio when it rained, as the flowers around
smelled warm and brought upon their earthly smell. Every summer I
would visit, she would sit me down beside her as I watched her take care
of them but I never saw her pluck them out to make a bouquet or
decorate her own dining room from the flowers she took care of.
She loved her garden very much, she loved being able to take care of
them as an extension of her love. Sometimes I wish someone were able to
take care of me like that. But the older I grew, I realized why she would
never pluck the flowers out of her garden and would buy from the shop
instead. You may pluck a flower only if you like it, but you would rather
take care of it if you love it.
Why is it that when we want love, we want it from others? We want
flowers as proof of their love but what about the buds that grow from
inside? You can take all the best parts of me because you claim to like me
but maybe that’s why love always takes so long because you need to
accept the broken in me to love me fully. But flowers take a long time to
grow as well, they feed off of love and care. How alike are the worlds of
both humans and flowers?
STUDENT LIFE 8
But there is one thing that will make me different from them. All the love
and care I have received from the people in my life before, I will use their
left feelings to love myself. At some place in time, I was loved even though
I did not know of it but only felt its absence when they were no longer
present as constant beings to remind me I was. So if not to anyone else, I
will pick my pieces up and slowly grow out of where I am. I will forgive
myself in order to accept the love I will hold for me. And the flowers will
still grow inside as I take it and give it to you, the person in the mirror.
