digunakan setelah linking verbs (be, seem, look, feel, taste) atau sebelum kata benda (noun
phrase).

Lima Karakter Kepemimpinan Abu Bakar al-Shiddiq yang Perlu Dicontoh

Sebagaimana disebutkan dalam kitab Tarikh al-Khulafa‟ yang ditulis oleh Jalaluddin Abdur
Rahman al-Suyuthi, Abu Bakar memiliki nama lengkap Abdullah ibn Utsman ibn Amir ibn Amru
ibn Ka‟ab ibn Sa‟ad ibn Taim ibn Murroh ibn Ka‟ab ibn Luayyi ibn Ghalib Alquraisyi Attaimi
Lahir di kota Mekah pada tahun 51 sebelum hijrah.

Nama Abu Bakar Ash-Shiddiq merupakan nama pemberian Rasulullah SAW, Abu berartikan
“bapak”, Bakr artinya “awal”, digelari demikian karena ia menjadi orang yang paling cepat (awal)
masuk Islam. Sedangkan Ash-Shiddiq, ialah karena ia menjadi orang yang sangat percaya dan
selalu membenarkan dakwah Nabi Muhammad SAW.

Abu Bakar terkenal dengan berbagai akhlahnya yang mulia, yang wajib dicontoh oleh pemimpin
masa kini, antara lain:

1. Berani
Keberanian beliau dalam menyampaikan kebenaran mengantarkan umat Islam pada puncak
kejayaan. Kekuasaannya meliputi hampir semua negara di Timur Tengah, bahkan sampai ke
Andalusia, Eropa dan Afrika.

2. Kejujuran dan Sikap Amanah.
Hal ini tak terlepas dari didikan Rasulullah SAW yang memang selalu menitikberatkan aspek
kejujuran “Janganlah kamu berdusta maka bagimu surga,” begitulah pesan dari Rasulullah
SAW.

3. Kuat Pendirian dan tegas.
Bependirian kokoh, yang benar itu benar dan yang salah itu tetap salah. Abu Bakar meminta
kepada masyarakat untuk taat kepadanya, selama ia taat kepada Allah SWT dan Rasul-Nya.
Akan tetapi, jika ia melanggar perintah-Nya, mereka tidak wajib taat kepadanya.
“Tidak boleh taat kepada makhluk dalam maksiat kepada Sang Pencipta,” sebagaimana pesan
Rasulullah SAW.
Hal tersebut menunjukkan akan teguh pendirian dan tegasnya beliau dalam bertindak bahwa
jabatan itu bukanlah sebuah keuntungan.

4. Sabar dan Rendah Hati.
Memiliki kesabaran yang tinggi dan rendah hati. Kesabaran beliau terlihat bahwa beliau tidak
pernah memaksakan kehendak beliau sendiri, beliau selalu menyertakan pendapat sahabat-
sahabat yang lain. Kerendahan hati beliau terlihat ketika dipilih menjadi seorang pemimpin,
Abu Bakar tidak pernah mencerminkan ambisi untuk memimpin, beliau selalu merendah
bahwa beliau sendiri tidak pantas untuk memimimpin. Terlihat juga dalam isi pidato beliau
yang dikutip dalam buku Al-Bidayah wa Al-Nihayah, “Sekarang aku telah dipilih sebagai
pemimpin atas kalian, padahal aku bukanah orang yang terbaik di antara kalian ”

5. Faqih
Faqih yaitu paham seluk beluk ilmu agama. Banyak pemimpin sekarang yang hanya paham
birokrasi tapi tak paham ilmu agama yang menjadi dasar hidupnya. Paham ilmu birokrasi dan
ilmu agama menjadi hal penting dalam memimpin.
