Shahadah (Faith)

The first pillar is faith. This pillar tells
the Muslims that Muhammad is the
messenger of God, but there isn’t a
God. The pillar also tells Muslims
that there is only one God and that is
Allah. Another thing that the pillar
tells Muslims is that Muslims must
believe that there is a Heaven and
Hell.

Salat (Prayer)

The second pillar is Salat. Salat tells
Muslims to pray five times a days once
at dawn, noon, midday, sunset, and
after nightfall. Before they pray they
have to wash their hands, feet, arms,
and legs.

Zakat (Charity)

The third pillar is Zakat. Zakat tells
Muslims to give to the needy. They
have to give 2.5% of their income to
them. Zakat gives soup, clothes, and
shelter to the poor.

Siyam (Fasting)

The fourth pillar is Siyam. Siyam tells
Muslims to fast and not eat during the
day time. During this time they learn
how to forgive and be kind to others.
During the night time they eat and
drink.

Hajj (Pilgrimage)

The fifth pillar is Hajj. Hajj is when
Muslims dress in all white to visit the
mosque to pray. All Muslims must go
and do this once in their lifetime. After
they pray, the Muslims celebrate with
a four-day feast.
