Early Years Class News
November/December 2019

Our Aim is for children to
be

Successful Learners
Confident Individuals
Responsible Citizens
Effective Contributors

Thank you to parents and carers for your continuous support on attending all our parenting workshops.

Learning
The children have been exploring number recognition and oral counting through number walks and fun
activities. They have also been listening, rhyming and predicting familiar stories as part of their learning. In
the month of December, the children will be discovering and investigating all about Winter and continuing to
explore different types of weather. The children are starting to talk about the festival of Christmas. We
will continue to promote independent learning through investigative play, stories, song, drama and a variety
of art activities.

Information
In the entrance hallway there is a notice board where all relevant information will be displayed, including
Early Years Class plans. If you miss any written communication, spare letters are available for you to help
yourself. PEEP and parents’ workshops information is also on the notice board.
There is information in the cloakroom regarding the new app the school has introduced, this can be easily
downloaded onto your phone. If you need any information regarding this please speak to any of the Early
Years Staff.

Clothing
We aim to develop the confidence of the children in the Early Years Class by encouraging independence when
dressing. Please help us by encouraging your child to zip up their jacket or fasten their shoes independently.
Please remember to label your children’s clothing and belongings as this helps to prevent any mix-ups. The
children seem to be enjoying messy play both indoors and outdoors, so it would be helpful if your child wears
clothing which you don’t mind getting messy. It would be appreciated if all children bring a change of clothes
including socks and his/her own pair of wellies.

Snack and Treat Fund - £2.50
Thank you to all parents/carers for the continued prompt payment of the snack and treat fund. As you have
seen the snack and treat money enables us to give the children fabulous parties like the Halloween party we
had with the characters. Snack is bought in advance so if you are going on holiday we would appreciate if you
could let us know. Thank you.
