TECHNOLOGY "The Impact of Augmented Reality on the Food Industry" WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY? Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that combines elements of the natural world with computer-generated virtual elements. It enhances our perception of reality by overlaying digital information, such as images, text, or 3D objects, on our view of the physical environment. Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), which transports users to entirely virtual environments, AR keeps users rooted in the real world while adding a digital layer, enriching and augmenting what we see and perceive. For example, Augmented Reality can display navigation instructions on a real-time camera view, play interactive games in natural settings, or show additional information about objects or places right in front of us. Augmented reality enhances dining with 3D hologram menus, immersive experiences, and tantalising sensory encounters. A culinary revolution unfolds! Augmented Reality and Food Menus: A Culinary Adventure Beyond Imagination Imagine entering a world where your food menus come to life before your eyes! Augmented Reality (AR) / Hologram is revolutionising the way we experience dining, offering a personalised journey that tantalises all your senses. Let's explore how a food diner might relish this futuristic encounter! THE EPICUREAN ADVENTURE With AR/Hologram food menus, diners embark on an immersive culinary adventure. Visualise yourself virtually strolling through a vibrant farmers' market, where delectable dishes pop up as mouthwatering 3D holograms. The tantalising aroma of sizzling dishes transports you to a world of gastronomic delights! A PERSONAL FEAST FOR THE SENSES Each dish unveils its origin, ingredients, and preparation techniques as the menu comes to life. Hear the sizzle, smell the spices, and watch your gourmet masterpiece being artistically crafted before your eyes. Augmented Reality (AR) brings a multisensory encounter that elevates your dining experience to a new level! THE QUEST FOR BALANCE Finding the perfect balance between Augmented Reality innovation and cherished dining traditions is vital. By allowing diners to choose between the two experiences, restaurants can cater to diverse preferences. A harmonious blend of technology and practice ensures that every diner enjoys a personal and gratifying culinary journey. I PAGE 09

Music has no color or division, only a calmness that washes over the soul. Our mother tongue is Sinhala, and over the years, we have been present to see the wondrous creation of many Sinhala songs from different aspects of life. So what if we bring them together? With that in mind, we present to you the first program of our very own YouTube Channel, Voice of Leos, “Mandaremen eha”! Join us as we bring together various people of different walks of life, to sing and give us the in-depth meaning of various songs on our one and only Youtube Channel, Voice of Leos. Stay tuned!! As this is a Photography Awareness program conducted by specialists in the field with both theoretical and practical knowledge, we focused on the ones with a preference for photography. It concludes with three linked sections: the Webinar series, the competition, and the 1-day workshop. Our first task was to proceed with the webinar series. As we have already succeeded in two virtual sessions on the project LIGHTOGRAPHIA, we are happy to announce that our WhatsApp group has reached +300 active participants through our vital journey. The first session was conducted by an all-time well-known photographer, the SL Ambassador of Sony, Sir Ravi Ranasinghe. As a club, we are so honored to join hands with him. He’s a worldwide-recognized photographer with much experience in the field. No one can compete with the vast knowledge gained through many hardships over the years. He has a unique style of capturing the essence of life. As we stepped forward to our second exclusive session, which was conducted by another specialist, Sir Priyantha Bandara, we are so thrilled to announce that we were again able to succeed by suppressing +120 Participants during the webinar. When talking about his 10 years of working experience with locals and internationals, he attracted his clients with his artistic way of snapping the miracles of Mother Nature. Therefore, these are just the very first and second steps we took. At the end of the project, on the Workshop day, those who successfully finish the program will be awarded a printed certificate. Here, we discuss how reconnecting people with nature can function as a treatment for the global environmental crisis and how it can help people reconnect with nature to transform society towards sustainability. Humanity’s relationship to the natural world has been a scholarship topic since ancient times. However, with the growing recognition of environmental crises over the past decades, society’s disconnection from nature has been proposed as a root cause of unsustainability. Recent calls for the community to ‘reconnect with nature’ have grown louder, with new research emerging in sustainability science, including 17 sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2030. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to transform our world into a place where it calls for ending poverty and inequality, protecting the planet, and ensuring that all people cherish health, justice, and Prosperity. N A T U R E N A T U R E EXPENSIVE EXISTENCE The global sustainability concept of reconnecting humans with nature describes our enduring relationship with nature, including emotions, attitudes, and behaviors. Yet, most calls for ‘reconnection’ have remained speculative and vague, with relatively few concrete insights regarding the characteristics of a connected society or how to achieve this goal. For example, there is confusion around the concept of connection to nature and whether a state of disconnection is a response to the Industrial Revolution, which has brought significant technological advances alongside many ecological plights that began around 150 years ago. One primary method of disconnection for humans from nature is the carbon footprint, which emits tons of greenhouse gases generated by our actions. The only way to turn heads is to start loving nature, as both human beings and nature cannot survive without each other. Also, research implies that people with a greater connection to nature are more likely to behave positively towards the environment, wildlife, and habitats. Now, it is evident that reconnecting people with nature can play a helpful role in addressing many of todays' ecological and sustainability challenges. So reconnect with nature to create a better world for yourself and the next generation. Calls for humanity to ‘Reconnect to Nature’ have grown increasingly louder among scholars and civil society. Yet, there is little coherence about reconnecting to nature, why it should happen, and how it can be achieved. I PAGE 15
As the world grapples with the escalating impacts of climate change, the region of South Asia finds itself at the forefront of these environmental challenges. With its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and rapidly growing populations, South Asia is both a witness to and a participant in the intricate dance of climate change. This article aims to shed light on the multifaceted reasons behind the climate changes that are reshaping the dynamics of this vibrant and diverse region. One of the defining features of South Asia is its geographical diversity, encompassing everything from the towering Himalayan mountain range to the vast Indian Ocean coastline. This diversity plays a significant role in shaping climate patterns across the region. The Himalayas, for instance, influence the monsoon winds that bring life-sustaining rains and devastating floods to the plains below. The Indian Oceans' warmth contributes to the intensity of cyclones that can ravage coastal areas. These geographical features interact increasingly unpredictably as global temperatures rise, leading to heightened climate variability. The South Asian monsoon, a seasonal wind pattern, is a vital lifeline for agriculture and water resources in the region. Changes in the monsoon patterns have profound effects on millions of livelihoods. Climate change disrupts traditional monsoon behavior, leading to erratic rainfall, extended dry spells, and intensified rainfall events. These changes can result in crop failures, water scarcity, and increased vulnerability to natural disasters. M O N T H L Y M O N T H L Y S P E C I A L S P E C I A L Coastal erosion, saltwater intrusion, and the potential displacement of millions of people are among the pressing concerns arising from these changes. Rapid urbanization and industrialization across South Asia have increased energy consumption, pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Urban centres often become heat islands, where temperatures are notably higher than in surrounding rural areas. The demand for energy, predominantly from fossil fuels, contributes to air pollution and further exacerbates climate change. Addressing this challenge requires a concerted effort to transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. The regions' lush forests and diverse ecosystems are under threat due to deforestation, driven by agricultural expansion, logging, and infrastructure development. The loss of these forests reduces carbon sequestration capacity and disrupts delicate ecological balances. Biodiversity loss can have far-reaching consequences, affecting everything from pollination to climate regulation. The complex web of factors contributing to climate change in South Asia highlights the urgent need for comprehensive and collaborative action. As nations across the region grapple with shared challenges, including poverty, inequality, and infrastructure development, addressing climate change becomes imperative for ensuring a sustainable future. South Asias' extensive coastline is home to bustling cities, vital ports, and rich ecosystems. However, rising sea levels pose a significant threat to these coastal areas. The melting glaciers in the Himalayas contribute to sea-level rise, while warmer ocean temperatures can lead to more frequent and severe storm surges. From adapting to changing monsoon patterns to implementing green technologies, the solutions lie in a collective commitment to safeguarding the environment and building resilience in the face of evolving climate dynamics. As South Asia navigates this critical juncture, todays' choices will reverberate for future generations. I PAGE 17

Hi Leos! I hope this finds you well. Thank you for this opportunity to share insight into how the Leo Club Program works in Zimbabwe. The Leo Club program in Zimbabwe is present in over 10 provinces, with a membership of close to 820 at last count. The program has been active in our country for more than 30 years. In Zimbabwe, we serve, we learn, we grow, and we even marry among ourselves. For some of us, Leo has become more than just a club; it's a lifestyle. It occupies our Saturdays, our contact lists, our social circle, and most parts of our lives. I know attached herein is a detailed explanation of our culture, but speaking on behalf of myself, Leo is a platform where I have grown and prospered in since 2014. 9 years on, I remain committed to being a lifelong member, and I certainly continue to treasure the moments and joys of serving as a Leo.
