Student accommodation has ballooned ann
from a fringe investment 10 years ago of a
to a global market worth £200bn today
Kn
The growth has been underpinned by a rise in the
number of students which is forecast to double by
2025, rising to a staggering 262 million worldwide.
Private and institutional investors have been attracted to student property
as an asset class due to the relatively high yields on offer, which look set
to continue in the foreseeable future. Figures from Knight Frank, the high-
end estate agent, forecast annual returns of around 9%.
“We believe it is realistic for numbers of international students in higher
education to grow by 15%-20% over the next five years... There is no cap
on the number of students who can come to study in the UK and no in-
tention to introduce one.”
Location, location, location
As with any buy-to-let investment, it is essential to choose your location
carefully which has become even more important following the govern-
ment’s reform of university funding in 2012.
Investors can rest assured that all Hill & Standard student developments
are chosen with the upmost care. Excellent locations and links to prestig-
ious higher education establishments ensure a demand for quality
accommodation and an excellent return on investment.
