A.Meaning Recount text is a text that tells the readers about experience or event that happened in the past. B. Social Function To retell past events for the purpose of informing or entertaining.


1 Orientation : It gives the readers the background information needed to understand the text, such as who was involved, where it happened, and when it happened. 2 Events : A series of events ordered in a chronological sequence. 3 Reorientation : A personal comment about the event or what happened in the end. C. Generic Structure


D. Language Features 1. Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense. 2 . Frequent use is made of words which link events in time, such as next, later, when, then, after, before, first, at the same time, as soon as she left, late on Friday, On Saturday. On Monday, On Sunday. 3. Focus on a specific participant, e.g. I (the writer). 4. Using the conjunctions, such as: then, before, after, etc. 5. Using an action verb, e.g. went, stayed. 6. The passive voice may be used, eg. the bottle was filled with ink (Factual Recount).


E. Types of Recount Text 1. Personal Recount Retells an activity the writer has been personally involved in. Personal recounts often build an intimate relationship between the writer and the reader. Some common types of personal recount include anecdotes, diary & journal entries, personal letters, etc. While there are some differences, a personal narrative has much in common with a personal recount.


2. Factual Recount Report the particulars of an incident by reconstructing factual information, e.g. police reconstruction of an accident, historical recount, biographical and autobiographical recounts. A factual recount is an objective recount of an actual event by someone not personally involved in the situation. Its purpose is either to inform, entertain or both.


3. Imaginative Recount Apply factual knowledge to an imaginary role in order to interpret and recount events e.g. A Day in the Life of a German soldier, How I manned the first mission to the moon. An imaginative recount is the re-telling of events, usually in the first person. This style of recount allows for embellishment beyond facts and events- perfect for creative writing.


R.A Kartini Each April 21 people in indonesia celebrate the kartini day. It is delightful day for the lady on the grounds that we praise the conception of incredible woman R.A. Kartini. Everybody knows who Kartini is. She is our national champion and an extraordinary woman with the brilliant thought. Kartini was conceived in 1879 April 21 in Mayong Jepara. Her dad was Rama Sosroningrat a Wedana (associate of head of rule) in Mayong. Her mom, Ma Ngasirah was a young lady from Teluk Awur town in Jepara as the little girl of a respectable family, she felt fortunate in light of the fact that she got more than the standard individuals got. She improved instruction than other youngsters. In november 12 1903 she wedded adipati djoyodiningrat, the head of rembang rule. As per Javanese custom Kartini needed to tail her spouse. At that point she moved to Rembang. Example of Factual Recount (historical recount)


In September 13 1904 she gave a conception to her child. His name was Singgih. Anyway, subsequent to conceiving a child, her condition was deteriorating and she at long last passed away on september 17 1904 on her 25 years of age. Presently Kartini has gone. Anyway, her soul and dream will dependably be in our heart. These days Indonesian ladies advancement is affected by kartini’s soul expressed on accumulation of letter “habis gelap terbitlah terang” or from the nightfall to the first light.


STUDENTS’ACTIVITIES 1. Make a group of maximum 6 2. Discuss or find the answer of the following cases; a.What is the difference among personal, factual and imaginative recount? b. Write 5 titles of factual recount c. What are the differences and the similarities between narrative and recount text? d. Which text do you like to read, narrative or recount? Give your reason. 3. Write your answer in a piece of paper. Present it in front of the class. Then, give it to your teacher.
