The manager and workers and the reporter How are the people in the story represented? The manager and staff were all presented as nice and friendly people How did you feel about the people in the news story? Why? Use the following terms where relevant: accuracy; balance; impartiality; objectivity; subjectivity; opinion; bias; access & privacy I thought they were nice and honest people Was the news story narrativised? i.e., was there a construction of a narrative to help the audience follow the news event. The news report was just informing the audience, it wasn’t really telling us a story

They smile and look directly into the camera and a lot of reporters do this to try and get the audience to trust them What is the role of the newsreader / presenter in a news broadcast? To present the news and facts in a professional way for the audience to understand recent events What skills are necessary for newsreaders / presenters? To speak the language of the country you are presenting in, to be thorough, and to pay attention to detail what is a field reporter and what do they do? To order several reports to make a news programme which appeals to a specific audience What is the term given to the list of stories that will likely appear on the broadcast? Which story is likely to be shown first and how / why is it selected? A tragedy to gain the audiences attention Why is the ability to think and act quickly important in news? In case a need to Improve appears What is meant by the term 'slow news day'? When there is few important events for the news to report What is the final story often called and what is its function? Kicker, a light story to cheer people up after the sadder stories have been mentioned. What is meant by the term 'news values' and which G & R wrote about them? A criteria that in fluences the selection of events presented as news What is actuality footage and stock footage and why are they used? Non – dramatized footage and footage that can be used in other ways.
