Goal are important part of every aspect of business and life because they provide
direction, motivation, a clear focus, and a sense of importance. You can provide
yourself to shoot for by making goals. A SMART goal is a type of goal that is used
to facilitate goal setting. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely is
an acronym that stands for specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.
As a result, a SMART goal combines all of these approaches that help you focus

your efforts and boost your odds of success.

good. In being a competent officer, I have
a good relationship with everyone in a
division or unit so that it is easy to work
together to do a task. Next, let's not
forget the staff or members under my
leadership who need to be taken care of
and given attention to maintain the
relationship between supervisors and
employees in addition to improving the
quality of work provided. In addition, I
have to maintain a good relationship
with the lecturers because they are the
main source of knowledge.

5) DETERMINE WHAT I NEED TO KNOW
To stand higher than anyone to achieve
my goals, I need to equip myself with
unique knowledge as well as vast
experience. Knowledge gained from
extensive experience can help me become
better at solving a problem. I have
worked in 2 different UiTM campuses,
each other different situations and
problems. We need to be good at
adapting to the environment and need to
be smart in solving a problem or task.
Most importantly everything that is done
should be done in advance planning and
good settings so that we can easily
perform a task.

6) CREATING A PLAN ACTION
Creating and implementing an action
plan will illustrate that I am serious in
achieving the dreamed goal. There are 4
action plans that I will do to become a
successful Security Officer at UiTM. First,
I will improve my time management so
that can complete more tasks in a given
time. Second, I will improve my
communication skills with the staff
under my supervision and also in each
division / unit in order to develop good
relationships and easy to work with.
Next, I will work harder to gain more
knowledge and skills to ensure that I
keep abreast of the latest industry
demands nowadays. Lastly, I will make
sure that I finish my studies before
2024, to coincide with the original
planning.



7) YOUR SUCCESS
Fast forward to 2029, Alhamdulillah. I
may be able to realize my dream of
holding a position as a Security Officer
at UiTM. I will make sure to work wisely
and diligently to retain the position as a
Security Officer and use every soft skill
and knowledge that I have for the
benefit of UiTM while constantly
improving myself with new and better
skills and values that can benefit
myself, people around that is friends,
family and colleagues.

MY S.M.A.R.T. GOAL

S.M.A.R.T. goal was developed in 1981 by named of George Doran, Arthur Miller
and James Cunningham. SMART stand for Specific, measurable, attainable,
realistic and timely. They were invented because the method was thought to make
goals easier to understand and know when they have been completed. Other than
that, this theory invented to help everyone in setting up high quality, achievable
and worthy goals.

S – SPECIFIC
I need to set my goals specifically. Before I can set goals, I will ask myself
using method 5W1H i.e. what, when, why, who and how. My goal is to become
a Security Officer at UiTM one day. I set out to reach the goal in 2029, which is
when I reach the age of 45. Nowadays I need to build my relationships with

important people and also everyone. In addition, I have to improve my
knowledge and soft skills to be valuable in the organization.


M – MEASURABLE

The goals that need to be set can be measured in the context of goal
achievement. My goal can be measured by the extent to which I will be a
Security Officer at UiTM whether I have achieved the goal according to the set
time frame or otherwise. In addition, I must perform my role and responsibility
as a Security Officer well and competently in improving the performance of an

organization.



A – ACHIEVABLE
Based on the duration given to myself to prepare and equip myself with the

right specialization to become a Security Officer at UiTM, the goal can be
achieved logically as the journey towards it is likely to go smoothly without

any unexpected obstacles.



R – REALISTIC
I need to make sure that my goals are realistic and truly achievable with the
right plan and determination. Being a Security Officer at UiTM is a dream and
can be achieved in real reality. It’s not the same as someone wanting to go to

the moon by aeroplane.



T – TIMELY
The desired goal should be set in a timeline. A goal timeline exists as a guide

to always keep oneself on track. It also aims to create urgent needs and
increase self -drive motivation each time the period to achieve goals is getting
shorter. For example, as I mentioned earlier, I will be graduating degree level
from distance learning in 2024 and will ensure myself to be a Security Officer

at UiTM in 2029. That is the timeline I have set!
