Our major goals are to modify existing laws that are detrimental to motorcycle safety and enjoyment, and to enact new legislation in support of all motorcyclists who ride in Tennessee. If you are concerned about preserving personal freedom and motorcycle safety, please join us.”

CMT/ABATE Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationLISA OGLEOK, it’s been a long, cold winter for those unable to escape to points south or west for some warm-weather riding. That means many New Hampshire motorcyclists and passengers haven’t thrown a leg over a bike since late October or early November Sure, many have stayed occupied indoors watching YouTube videos, scanning magazines, newsletters, and online forums, and exchanging emails with fellow riders in anticipation of the 2026 riding season. So now that warmer weather has made a comeback, what are your plans for your first ride of the season? Some may hop onto the internet before hopping on their bike, typing “what to take on a motorcycle ride” in their favorite search engine for clues. First things first – get your bike and gear ready. Take off the cover, run through your pre-ride maintenance check, and make sure your riding gear still fits the way you remember. Winter has a way of shrinking leather, no doubt in part by a bit too much holiday cheer. Consider a single-day ride list, a multi-day ride list, and two additional lists if a passenger is involved. And for those tech-savvy riders, creating and refining those lists on your handheld device could become part of your pre- and postride routines. It’s not likely you’ll get it right each time you head out, but after each journey it’s worth revisiting your ‘single day’ and ‘multi day’ lists to modify them as needed. After all, part of the adventure of motorcycling is journeying into the unknown or through the unexperienced. Just be sure you’ve prepared the best you can, and enjoy the ride. Lisa

We also need to consider other product ideas as well, maybe key chains, Lapel Pins or litter bags with our logo so we have something for Motorcycle Awareness month. We need to find a distributor that we can get a good deal with to re-stock our products. I will check to see if we can find a distributor. We have gold club member shirts but that is specifically for the Gold Club members. We need to get in touch with Faith to see if any products are left. Jeff will get in touch with her. CMT/ABATE Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationYou will probably receive this newsletter just in time for what is probably our most critical activity of the year. Tuesday April 7th will be the Tennessee Bikers’ Legislative Lobby Day in Nashville – our opportunity to have a “show of force” at the state capitol. This event is a joint undertaking between CMT/ABATE and the Tennessee Confederation of Clubs, and would not be possible without the dedication and effort of several people in both organizations – Thank You to everyone involved. A large group of bikers wandering the halls of the Cordell Hull Legislative Office Building does not go un-noticed, and just a few of us can seem like many more among all the suits and ties that are typically there. This is our chance to remind every State Senator and Representative that motorcyclists are here, that we are very interested in protecting our rights and freedoms, and that we are watching how they represent us in the legislature. Being there as part of a larger group gives us more visibility, and the other members act as support for each other as we discuss the issues with the Representatives. This is an especially good time to talk to your representatives since this is an election year and many of them would like to talk to you and remind you to vote for them. We will have several important topics to discuss with our State Senators and Representatives, including a resolution commemorating May 2026 as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month. There is also a proposal for a helmet law modification bill, providing for freedom of choice regarding helmet use for riders 21 year old and older. Unfortunately, his helmet bill recently died in the Senate subcommittee, but the companion bill in the House, H.B.2412, is still alive and has been assigned to the Transportation Subcommittee. We are not sure if we can get that past the committee, but calls and emails from our members may make the difference. Those calls and emails, and the face-to-face meetings that we will have at the Tennessee Bikers’ Legislative Lobby Day are an important part of our continuing effort to protect your right to… ...Ride Free,EdEd DomineMRF State Rep - Tennessee Join The MRF: https://mrf.org/join-the-mrf/[email protected]

CMT/ABATE Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationBIKERS INSIDETHE BELTWAYThe definition of a motorcycle is under pressure - and so is our patience. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) is working to close a loophole that has allowed steering-wheel-equipped autocycles to operate under a motorcycle definition never meant for them. Removing a wheel from a small car doesn’t make it a motorcycle.A motorcycle is straddled. It has handlebars. It demands balance and skill. When definitions drift, regulations drift. CMT/ABATE Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationSAD PILLSBURY NEWSThe Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies & Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in business but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was considered a very smart cookie, but wasted much of his dough in halfbaked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions…..Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough & Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:30 for about 20 minutes. If this made you smile for even a brief second, please pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may be having a crumby day and kneads a lift.
