TE ABATE of OKLAHOMA Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationLeading the Way: The Rise of Female BikersThroughout the history of motorcycling, there have been many incredible women riders. While they haven’t always received the same recognition as men, their impact on the culture and community is undeniable. From early pioneers who broke stereotypes to the modern-day women who are taking leadership roles, female bikers have always been part of the story, even when the spotlight didn’t shine on them.Over the last decade, the number of female riders has grown tremendously. Riding clubs designed for and led by women have been popping up across the country. These groups are more than just social circles, they’ve become networks of support, mentorship, and empowerment. Women are also stepping into key roles in motorcycle rights organizations, advocacy groups, and event planning, shaping the future of the lifestyle we all love.Too often, the image of a “female biker” is limited to someone riding on the back seat. While many women do choose to ride as passengers, more and more are taking the handlebars themselves. In fact, manufacturers and training programs have seen a steady increase in women signing up for safety courses, purchasing their own bikes, and joining group rides. Whether you ride your own or ride two-up, your presence matters. And let’s not forget the vital role that female passengers play in the movement. Many are deeply involved in shaping the motorcycle community, serving as presidents and officers of organizations, volunteering at events, coordinating rides, and standing on the front lines to spread awareness about motorcycle rights and safety. Being on the back seat doesn’t make you less of a biker; it makes you part of a team. Our strength has always come from unity, from brothers and sisters standing together to protect our freedoms.Modern female riders are also carving out new spaces and breaking barriers. Many are leading charity rides, organizing rallies, and using social media platforms to share their journeys and educate others. Female influencers and content creators are inspiring younger generations, showing that there’s no single definition of what a “biker” looks like. Women are also making their mark in the custom motorcycle world, building, restoring, and designing bikes that reflect their own style and skill.
TEXAS ABATE CONFEDERATION Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationWhile it’s not a ABATE of Oklahoma event, Members of Tumbleweed 77 are the foundation for the event. If we want to keep moving forward, we need to continue to educate, support, and empower women to use their creativity, strength, and resourcefulness to help the motorcycling movement grow. This means creating welcoming spaces for new riders, offering mentorship to those just starting out, and recognizing the contributions of women at every level, from the front seat to the back seat, from the boardroom to the open road. The future of motorcycling isn’t defined by gender. It’s defined by passion, dedication, and the freedom we all fight for. Female bikers aren’t just fitting in; they’re helping lead the way.Play hard, never give up, dream big, take chances and live life!

TEXAS ABATE CONFEDERATION Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This Publication Long Island ABATE Does Not Endorse Any Advertiser or Product In This PublicationProfiling Survey 2025“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” The sentiment of this quote has been shared by many, leading to it being attributed to President Thomas Jefferson, abolitionist Wendell Phillips and Irish statesman John Philpot Curran. Debating who said it is not as important as remembering and living the message. As bikers, we have learned repeatedly that victories only last as long as you continuously defend them. A majority of States have fought for and won the right to decide whether or not to wear a helmet, yet every year, a legislature in one State or another will debate the merits of removing that right. The same fight continues for the right to repair/modify our bikes, the right to peacefully assemble with who we choose or even to wear clothing styles that reflect our lifestyle. These and other topics appear in our inboxes every week until it feels like it will never end because it does not end.Eternal vigilance means just that. But we are not alone. Every organization trying to secure rights of any kind faces the same battles. Even among bikers, we are not alone. Other organizations fight with us and look toward the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) for leadership. We must lead with an example of eternal vigilance. One of those organizations is the Motorcycle Profiling Project (MPP), which maintains an annual survey on the profiling of motorcyclists. The questions change every year, keeping the survey fresh and the data annually updated. The result is the tool that helped pass two Anti-Profiling Resolutions in the US Congress. The survey data was persuasive enough to be quoted in the Resolutions as shown in the attached image.Eternal vigilance means taking the new version of the survey each and every year. This is no different than doing a Call To Action each time a new bill threatens motorcycling. It needs to be done and with only a few questions, it is less than a minute to do. Use the attached QR Code above to take the survey right now! NHTSA Launches New Tesla InvestigationThis month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a new investigation into Tesla following reports that vehicles equipped with the company’s “Full Self-Driving” (FSD) system violated traffic laws while operating under partial automation. According to NHTSA, the agency is aware of 58 separate incidents, including cases where Teslas drove through red lights, traveled the wrong way on roads, and were involved in crashes and injuries. The preliminary evaluation encompasses approximately 2.9 million vehicles equipped with the FSD system. While no fatalities have been linked to these incidents, NHTSA identified at least six crashes in which Teslas continued through red lights and collided with other vehicles. Several of these incidents reportedly occurred at the same Maryland intersection, where Tesla has since taken corrective measures. This new probe adds to NHTSA’s growing list of investigations into Tesla’s driver-assistance technology, which includes inquiries into its Autopilot features, vehicle doors, and crash reporting practices. Federal regulators have also questioned the system’s ability to handle poor visibility and other real-world driving challenges. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) continues to closely monitor these developments, as autonomous technology remains a key issue within the recently approved 2026 MRF Legislative Agenda. Ensuring that emerging vehicle technologies are safely deployed and properly regulated is essential to protecting all road users, especially motorcyclists. The MRF will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and rigorous oversight in the rollout of self-driving vehicle systems.
