Gemba Walks
The principle behind performing a Gemba walk is to gain firsthand knowledge of a pro-
cess by personally observing what is happening, where it is happening.

New Year Equals New Opportunities!
Process Excellence in 2017
Happy New Year and welcome to Lean Six Sigma (LSS) 2017!
This year we will double down in our efforts to significantly
increase the number of CVHP improvements through certi-
fied Lean projects, Green Belt projects, and Black Belt pro-
jects. We are committed to doing this work because we
know that every project has an improvement and every im-
provement helps a patient, directly or indirectly. Presently,
we do over 100 improvement projects per year. Our goal is
Process Excellence. Process Excellence is a practical or sta- Spaceship designed by the talented David Braucher
tistically significant LSS project that is sustained. We are also
committed because we know that improvements increase organizational efficiency. When there is an
increase in process efficiency, there is a corresponding decrease in cost. We firmly believe our long
term financial stability will be more influenced by our internal Process Excellence than external finan-
cial government subsidies. Thank you to all for everything you do day in and day out for our patients,
for each other, and for our organization. Happy New Year!
