ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the role of competency as a moderator in meeting Malaysia's logistics education requirements. Local logistics
practitioners make up the logistics industry. Logistics management is a component of the supply chain process that includes
planning, implementing, and controlling the flow of goods, services, and information in efficient and cost-effective ways from the
point of origin to the end of use to meet consumers' needs. Obtaining the perspectives of local logistics practitioners on supply
chain management (SCM) is one of the main objectives highlighted in this study, providing significant input for the analysis of
logistics education needs. Despite government intervention and full support, Malaysia's logistics industry lags behind that of other
developed countries. Logistics graduates' involvement in the industry has not been able to meet the needs of logistics practitioners.
The study's objectives were to: measure the effectiveness of courses offered at institutes of higher learning (IPT) and further develop
the local logistics industry to produce graduates who are more globally competitive; identify knowledge that has a more effective
impact on the development of a globally competitive logistics industry; and identify the skills required by logistics graduates. The
courses offered by Malaysian institutions of higher learning are the components of logistics education that needs to be investigated
in this study. This component consists of the competencies required of Malaysian undergraduate students. The key findings of this
study are expected to develop a more competitive and sustainable logistics industry globally by increasing value-added activities,
increase the number of players in the industry, and meet the demands of logistics practitioners in the logistics industry. The
academic emphasis in the field of logistics must be more proactive in promoting future logistics education needs

ABSTRACT
Education system in this world has been challenged by Covid-19 pandemic since early 2020. The Movement Control Order (MCO)
to overcome the disease from spreading has disturbed the normal operation of education services including higher education
provider like UNISEL. Despite the difficulties in new normal of strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) imposed by the
government, UNISEL operations especially in academic services and teaching & learning have continued as usual throughout the
MCO. UNISEL has managed to sustain its operation and successfully faced the challenges. This sustainability can be well
connected to the UNISEL's implementation of ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organization Management Systems (EOMS). The
EOMS standard provides general ground of education management system that can be used in any conditions. The effectiveness
of the EOMS implementation can be proven by the students' satisfaction survey. The instruments of this survey were divided into
five aspects which are students’ demographic, teaching and learning, facilities, support services, student’s activities and overall
experience as a student in UNISEL. The questionnaire consists of 31 and the likert scale used for the customer satisfaction was
ranked from 1 to 5. The results for each aspect were then compared with previous years data. The comparison analysis showed that
there was no significant satisfaction reduction for 2021 survey and moreover there was a slight improvement in teaching and
learning aspect as compared from the previous year. The study proved that EOMS standard is robust and can help education
provider to sustain in challenging conditions like pandemic Covid-19.

ABSTRACT
Fashion production makes up 10% of global carbon dioxide emissions every year, depletes water sources, and pollutes rivers and
streams. As more people buy clothes worldwide, the increased demand for low-cost garments and new styles is putting a strain on
the environment. As a result, the slow fashion concept seeks to promote clothing that is both ethically produced and environmentally
friendly. The purpose of this study is to have a better understanding of the relationship between exposure to sustainable fashion
education, and the changes in consumers' knowledge, awareness, and attitudes (KAA) toward slow fashion apparel. The second
objective is to investigate whether sustainable fashion education would influence young consumer’s purchase intentions toward
slow fashion. The survey responses from 208 UNISEL students participating in the Green Awareness and Sustainability in
Community (GASCO) course in this study. In two lecture series, an educational module on the concept of slow fashion was
introduced. In a quantity method approach, two rounds of data collection were used: a pre-educational survey with an educational
module, and a post-educational survey for all pre-educational survey participants. Knowledge and attitude have also been shown
to be helpful in predicting purchasing intentions. These findings demonstrated that educational exposure had a significant and
positive impact on young adult consumers' comprehension of and attitudes about slow fashion. As a result of this study, the slow
fashion awareness module gained an educational component, which increased consumer comprehension and attitudes about slow
fashion

ABSTRACT
Climate change is one of the environmental issues happening globally and Malaysia is also affected by the phenomenon. Numerous
studies have been done for the past few years to explore the community awareness of climate change issues and educating them
towards it. This paper aimed to investigate the levels of community awareness and their level of knowledge of climate change. The
study was conducted among the participants of the Webinar on Climate Change that has been organized by a social course, Green
Awareness and Sustainability on Community (GASCO), Universiti Selangor (UNISEL). Findings indicate that there is a significant
difference among age group in terms of level of knowledge meanwhile no significant difference in level of awareness. Furthermore,
the result shows that there is a strong positive linear correlation between the level of knowledge and the level of awareness with R-
value 0.911. This study suggests that education and awareness raising programs should be conducted more frequently among the
community. Awareness programs are important to promote social responsibility which in turn can increase the knowledge of the
community to achieve a sustainable environment.

ABSTRACT
Online learning is a necessity for students during the Covid-19 pandemic, but it also comes with challenges that may lead to feeling
despair and depressed, and eventually suicidal ideation among students. This study looked at the perception of suicidal ideation
caused by online learning among UNISEL Communication Department students during the pandemic. Specifically, it looked to
determine the impact of online learning to students during the pandemic; to identify factors that influence students to suicidal
ideation during online learning; and to analyse possible solutions to prevent suicidal ideation among students. The data was gathered
using a Google Form questionnaire and received 160 respondents among UNISEL Communication Department students using
purposive non-probability sampling. Data gathered were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science. The study found
that online learning impacted the students in many ways such as not interested in studies anymore, struggled to stay focused on the
screen for long time periods, felt isolated from social circles and activities as more time are spent online. Most also agree that that
online learning influenced students to suicide ideation. It also found that among others, that isolation caused by online learning,
poor facilities and accessibility and economic stress at home are factors that influenced students towards suicidal ideation. Some
of the solutions suggested were to strengthen financial support in the family, motivation from friends and family, counselling and
mentor mentee session with students, suicide awareness campaign, active participation in social and fun activities.

ABSTRACT
The industries are one of the main users of groundwater in Malaysia. The industries that uses groundwater are mainly mineral water
bottling companies and for cooling applications. Groundwater usages are charged lower than the piped water supply. Its
consumption however, is increasing year by year. Thus this study aims to highlight the current situation with respect to the
management and development of groundwater for industrial usage in Malaysia. It is to identify any factors that may influence any
noncompliance or unsustainable abstractions of groundwater by the industries. A qualitative study was carried out involving
analysis of documents and legislations available. Interviews conducted involved 34 industries, legislators and state water
authorities, in addition to site observations. For better results, comparative analysis of triangulation was used. Results revealed the
level of compliance among industries is moderate mainly due to limitations in monitoring and governance. Findings also showed
the insufficiency and inefficiency of groundwater policy and management in Malaysia. This paper puts forward appropriate
governance and legislations including monitoring as well as to increase groundwater awareness among stakeholders and societies.
Recommendations for any future research were also laid out.

ABSTRACT
Spiritual resilience is based on the basic constructs of a belief or religion and how one acquires strength by drawing upon such
belief as a means of coping. Resilience is the ability to go through difficulties in life by acknowledging the importance of spiritual
element. The experience of going through the quarantine and rehabilitation phase of almost every COVID19 family in Malaysia
triggers a question, whether spiritual resilience uplift to the safe healing of COVID19. Resilience is important for individual’s
development post trauma and stress in which self-awareness and understanding will emerge through the practice of spirituality.
Recent studies on spiritual resilience and the COVID19 pandemic abroad is growing lately, but such studies need to be extended
to groups and populations in Malaysia. Thus, this article discusses the concept of spiritual resilience and the role of spiritual
resilience towards COVID19 patients in Malaysia. The method used in this conceptual study is based on literature highlights from
journal articles, proceedings, conferences, books and online resources related to the keywords and fields of study. Also discussed
are recommendations for further empirical and non -empirical studies to assist COVID19 patients through education and
counseling.

ABSTRACT

Environmental education is a defined field of specialization which deals with environmental conservation and protection. In the
school curriculum, environmental literacy is embedded in all subjects taught. However, initiatives, attention and energy undertaken
have yet to show results that is reflected in attitudes toward issues that concern the environment. Attitude change needs to start
from young but learning about the environment and ensuring the understanding of the importance of protecting it can be quite a
daunting task for children. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) should empowers learners with the knowledge, skills,
values and attitudes in addressing various global challenges. Thus, this paper aims to propose a different route to learn and
understand the importance of conserving the environment especially among children. This paper elaborates on children’s
understanding of environmental issues through stories written by the children based on a framework designed for this purpose.
Deep understanding of the issues is analysed from the stories written by them and through observation of their willingness to take
action in addressing environmental issues close to their hearts. The proposed framework provides children with diverse
understanding of the environmental issues through narratives as well as an enjoyable way of learning.

ABSTRACT

Lack of job satisfaction and low motivation level lead to an increasing rate of turnover intention among academic staff in higher
learning institutions. With the growing number of private institutions, it increases the choices for voluntary turnover among
academicians who seek for better institutions. The best approach in retaining quality workforce is to maintain staff’s engagement
to the institution, which can be achieved with the establishment of job satisfaction. The Leader’s Motivating Language (LML)
conceptualised by Sullivan’s (1988) Motivating Language Theory specifically focuses on the three main aspects of leader’s
communication which can elevate employees’ job satisfaction. This study investigated the use of LML by faculty’s academic
administrators and examined the relationship between the use of LML and academic staff’s job satisfaction level. A quantitative
approach was employed, with 185 academic staff from Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) recruited through purposive sampling to
provide the required data for this study through a questionnaire. The findings revealed that the LML is practiced at a moderately
high level within the faculties of UNISEL. It was also found that there is a strong, significant and positive relationship between
the use of LML by the academic administrators and academic staff’s job satisfaction. This study has theoretical implications for
understanding how the use of LML strongly relates to the level of job satisfaction which can help sustain UNISEL academic staff’s
engagement in the institution hence reducing staff turnover intention and increasing talent retention.

ABSTRACT
The landscape of online teaching and learning (OTL) has been changed from face-to-face mode to total OTL which forced the
education industry to adapt to the new norm of teaching and learning due to long practice of lockdown caused by COVID-19
pandemic. This study aimed to determine the impact of online learning towards the mental health status of higher education
students. A survey-based research which involved all faculties in UNISEL were conducted using online Google Form
questionnaires among undergraduate students who already experienced OTL for at least one semester. A total of 184 students were
chosen after data cleaning and mental health status of UNISEL students were classified by using verified DASS-21 questionnaires.
Sample size was suggested at 170 with 90% confidence level. Pilot study was done with 20 respondents and Cronbach’s Alpha test
was done to check for questionnaire validity (p<0.05). The outcome was about 22.3%, 38.0%, and 15.2% in severe to extremely
severe groups of depression, anxiety, and stress respectively. Significant factors contributed to OTL related mental health status
were age of respondent, gender, body-mass-index (BMI), the internet connectivity during OTL, student’s satisfaction on OTL and
MCO challenges influences (course works, feeling stuck, condition at home, unable to socialized with other and too many
responsibilities or chores) by using the Pearson Chi-Square, Fisher’s Exact Test and Linear-by-Linear Association at p<0.05
considered as level of significance. In conclusion, this study managed to reveal the mental health status of higher education learners
which could contribute to better understanding to improve wellbeing and academic performance by implementing new ideas, and
strategies in the virtual environment and system from university. This is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (#3 Good
Health and Well-being) and National Policy (Malaysian Mental Healthcare Performance 2016) which has been classified as

ABSTRACT
The STEM outreach program is important in fostering the interest of students to pursue STEM field as well as facilitating
them in developing their STEM skills. The rise of covid-19 pandemic in 2019 has forced lockdown schooling in most
affected countries. Thus, there is a demand for a home-restricted STEM module to facilitate STEM education both online
and offline. STEM @ Home module has been designed by the university lecturers to assist lockdown schooling and a
case study has been conducted to measure its effectiveness as a STEM outreach module. In this study, 140 students from
2 secondary schools in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia have been selected as mentees and 28 university students from
Universiti Selangor played role as mentors. The mentor guided the mentee virtually using the online platform to facilitate
the mentee in conducting the module at home. Mentors were instructed to record their observation and answered a survey
after every session to monitor the progress of both mentors and mentees. Based on this study, the module received positive
feedbacks from mentors, mentees and teachers. There was also a significant improvement recorded on the STEM skills
portrayed by both mentors and mentees. This finding is beneficial to the government, universities and schools as the
results portray the strength of this module and sustainable approach. Similar program could be implemented in other
school and this study could provide relevant input in strategizing future outreach program for a higher quality education
in line with goal 4 in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

ABSTRACT
Statistics on internet usage and reliance in Malaysia have shown staggering annual growth especially among youths. Though
advantages of technology adoption are acknowledged, the issue of cybersecurity is a rising concern with the incremental cases over
the years. To ensure the safety of users and to devise an inclusive action plan, it is imperative to understand the usage pattern and
the factors that promote or hinder certain online behaviours. This understanding can only be done by looking at different subgroups
as there may be inherent unique experiences, such as the Deaf community. This research is in line with Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity
Vision 2030 towards comprehensive social security networks of Persons with Disabilities and Sustainable Developmental Goal 9
to realize sustainability development in technology. Since there have been limited studies on Malaysian Deaf youths’ privacy
management behavior, this study is imperative to be explored. Methodologically, 17 Malaysian Deaf youth were chosen through
multi-stage sampling method. Semi structured interview and face-to-face survey were conducted in Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM)
by an interpreter to examine the extent of Deaf youth engagement in online privacy management as well as to investigate the factors
that contribute or hinder their privacy management behavior. It was found that the respondents mainly engaged in basic privacy
management behaviors due to their lack of exposure on the technical aspects of privacy management as well as the negative
repercussion of their behaviors. These findings point to the urgent need for further awareness and education training among the
Deaf community to ensure that all users are safe amidst the further technological advancement of the nation.

ABSTRACT
Nowadays, data protection is an essential issue for all computer users. Users continuously need to ensure that the data stored
in their computers are secured. It became a significant concern for all computer users because cyber-crimes are constantly
increasing day by day. In some cases, the situation turns out to be worst when their personal or confidential files being exposed
and breached by an unauthorized user. It is risky when users probably will not distinguish the individual who attempts to
access their confidential data typically stored in a folder on their personal computer or office desktop. Therefore, providing
an extra security measure and protection to the laptop or specifically to the folder is the best solution, thus may prevent the
folder from being breached by hackers. This project focuses on developing a lock folder application that implements a
graphical password as its authentication factor to protect a folder from being accessed by an unauthorized user. It implements
graphical passwords to verify user identity. Graphical password is an alternative authentication method that can replace a
conventional password pattern where images are used in its authentication scheme. It will also send a notification via email if
someone tries to unlock the folder without valid authorization. It has also been tested with users to study the user response
towards its usability and functionality. The result shows the application is fully functioning and most likely benefit the user
as it is user friendly and effortless to use.

ABSTRACT
The evolution of new technologies has brought about extensive changes in our daily life and continues to reshape our world. Year on year,
technologies evolve to provide the best solutions to problems faced by humans. Once technologies are generally accepted by society, new
and relevant approaches to using them may be developed. Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM) offers research grants to lecturers
twice a year. These grants are provided to fund specific projects and encourage lecturers to conduct new experiments and design new
instruments. However, principal investigators especially are experiencing issues managing and storing the related information, as well as
calculating all the funding data, including the budgets and expenses. Furthermore, investigators need an effective management system since
data is crucial. Without a good system, confidential data could be misplaced, lost, or received by unauthorised people. The system must also
be able to serve as a centralized tool with several functions, such as saving the principal investigators and co-researchers’ information,
managing fund accounts and storing important files in one place. The Agile Software Development Model is used to assist the development
process, which can be carried out within a short period. The development requirements involve a web-based framework and a Firebase
Real-time Database. Therefore, the expected outcome is a Personal Research Grant Management System. This web-based system was
developed to assist principal investigators to manage research grant information and enable them to generate progress reports and final
reports. Furthermore, the implementation of the system improved the current management process and solved all the issues mentioned in
the problem statement

ABSTRACT

File hiding is a process of hiding any files in computer from being accessed by anyone. This process is necessarily used in order to prevent
any snoopers from accessing private and confidential files. Today, various extant file hiding applications existed but there is unfriendly user
issue arises where only certain files can be hidden. Some of the applications can hide text file only and some others can only hide image
files. Thus, it is difficult for users to hide any file of their choice because they need to use more than one tools or applications that support
the file type. This paper presents File Hiding Web Application (FHWA) which can be used to hide any type of files using image
steganography as a security mechanism. This application is developed using Agile methodology and Visual Studio Code is used to build
the system as the code editor. Programming languages like Tailwind CSS, Semantic UI and JavaScript including Node.js, ReactJS and
Next.js are used for frontend and backend development while MongoDB is used to store the databases. Based on user acceptance testing,
the result shows on average 98% of the respondents are able to use FHWA to hide any type of files and reveal them successfully.

ABSTRACT
In the 21st century, everything around us has become depends upon technology to make our life much easier. Face recognition and Internet
of Things (IOT) technologies have seen dramatic improvements in performance over the last few years. There are two reasons for this trend;
the first is for saving the cost and time in the classroom and accuracy in attendance will be maintained, and the second is availability to
connect with electricality equipment automatically. This project proposed an automatic smart classroom application by using IOT and face
recognition concept. It was completely based on face recognition and the face detection. This both detection and recognition will
automatically detect the face of students in the classroom and mark the attendance by recognizing the person. The application also provided
advanced technology which is ability to automatic switch on electrical power such as lamp, fan, LCD and air conditional in the classroom.
This helps in reducing energy consumptions and monitors the units consumed. This proposed solution is a step towards a smart classroom.
The results and analysis show that the proposed IoT solution will accelerate the classroom availability process without human intervention.

ABSTRACT

Some universities require a certain percentage of student attendance which can influence their availability to sit for certain exams or
assessments. Recording student attendance is very important to ensure that students attend face-to-face examinations as well as teaching
and learning classes. However, this is not an easy task especially when handling a large number of students during face-to-face, online or
virtual classes. Calling students names or letting students sign their attendance are not always the best way to ensure their presence. Calling
the name of students in each learning session, especially in large groups of students will be difficult for the educators and take a long time
to complete. This will make the learning process start late. While allowing students to sign up their attendance may cause signature fraud if
not well supervised. Google Chrome Extension is one of the popular methods used to track student attendance during in online class. This
approach is time consuming and complicated. The name will be listed based on time when the students enter, exit and re-enter the online
class. As a result, a new application Virtual Class Attendance Record System with Facial Recognition is introduced to assist educators
recording attendance automatically. The solution to this problem is to use a face recognition method through the Haar Cascade Face
Detection algorithm. It compares the face image and matches it with the storage of the student's face images. Then it marks the attendance
on the list of original student names provided by the educator in the form of a spreadsheet. Python programming language is used to create
an automated attendance system. The results show that the proposed solution will accelerate the classroom availability process without
human intervention

ABSTRACT

Developments in computers and technologies have created an intense need for secure and trustworthy cryptography systems. Highly secure
schemes are always desirable for real-world applications. Cryptography requires a secure technique to ensure that the enemy is prevented
while securing legitimate users who have access to the data. In cryptography, the avalanche effect is one of the most desirable methods for
determining the security of an algorithm. In this paper, the experimental process is conducted to examine the sensitivity of the algorithm
when a one-bit input is changed in the key, which causes changes on approximately half of the ciphertext. The experiment is performed
based on the key avalanche in the proposed block cipher algorithm. These processes were done 32 times based on the 32-bit plaintext on
the algorithm and the avalanche effect was calculated in each time based on the ciphertext generated. However, if a block cipher does not
exhibit the avalanche effect to a significant degree, it indicates that it has poor randomisation. Hence, a cryptanalyst can make predictions
about the input while only being given the output. From the experiment, the results showed that the proposed block cipher algorithm has
satisfied the key avalanche with a 50% output bit changed in the ciphertext. Therefore, the proposed block cipher algorithm fulfilled the
avalanche effect property, which resulted in improved diffusion.

ABSTRACT
As technology has progressed and a plethora of applications have emerged, people have grown increasingly attracted to, and even obsessed
with, the Internet. Excessive Internet use has been linked to neurological issues, psychological disorders, social issues, lower academic
achievement, sleep disruption, excessive daytime sleepiness, and environmental stressors. Researchers have focused on the uses and social
impacts of the Internet, specifically internet addiction among Malaysians, due to the widespread use and growth of internet access. The
current study involves a reviewed research article on an internet addiction grounded by Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT) in explaining
the phenomena of internet addiction. This theory is concerned with determining why people use certain types of media, what needs they
have for them, and what gratification they derive from using it. Therefore, this study aims to identify the predictors of internet addiction and
what makes this internet usage so appealing. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on the phenomenon of internet addiction by
presenting relevant findings on the determinants of internet addiction in Malaysia, which are not previously available. This research will
also serve as a guideline for parents, educators, and other interested parties in dealing with the issues and planning for the intervention
program, which will focus on young adults.

Abstract

Parkinson’s disease patients are consulted to frequently exercise and undergo physiotherapy to reduce the progression rate of their disease.
However, this can be a problem when the caretakers that bring them to the rehabilitation center are unavailable due to work or other related
issues. The cost to go to rehabilitation is also expensive. Therefore, patients tend to exercise at home where there is no one to monitor except
for their caretakers. This can lead to problems in evaluating the progress of the patient’s rehabilitation. This research aims to investigate the
element for a game-based Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation. This research also aims to propose a game development conceptual framework
for Parkinson’s disease patients known as My Parkinson’s Disease (MyParD) and evaluate the framework through game prototype
development. To achieve this, this research utilizes documentation analysis and expert interviews to explore and identify the elements
needed to successfully develop the framework and prototype game. Then, the elements are used to develop the preliminary framework, and
comparison is done regarding user requirement analysis. Lastly, the expert verifies the final updated framework. Results show that there are
seven elements of MyParD and eleven sub-elements. The seven elements are game design, game mechanics, game engine, patient, therapist,
results, and database. Game design is the most important element that is tested out in a prototype gaming session amongst eleven Parkinson’s
disease patients. Based on sampling, the result of 90% successful gameplay proves that MyParD can be applied to evaluate Parkinson’s
disease patients’ rehabilitation progress and success rate. MyPard is proven to be used as a game development framework for a patient with
Parkinson’s Disease.

ABSTRACT

Cyberbullying has grown popularity on social media as a trolls posting provocative comments with the intent of offending someone. The
response generated sensitive concerns of harsh comments and insults, contribute to the depression involvement for the victims and their
families to become irritated. Somehow, many are unaware with what they are doing regarded as cyberbullying and online harrasment. With
expanded use of social media platforms, some people are misusing these technologies cause harm to another in significant that potential
dangers for user, particularly young people. Nowadays cyberbullies are no longer restricted to vocal or physical bullying, but include like
text bullying either directly or indirectly. A study was conducted on media social postings made by Malaysian adolescents to identify and
deduce the textual meaning of the cyberbullying argument. Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) is a concept and technique for extracting and
interpreting a word's contextual-usage meaning using statistical calculations applied to a large corpus of text. This technique delves into
the text's semantics by detecting many types of bullies in any social media thread. Each phrase is parsed using a Natural Language Processing
(NLP) approach that identifies the words connected to the predicate. The main objective of this research is to investigate keywords for a
pattern of attack and common semantic language by bullies. The output of this research is more comprehensive corpus on a collection of
bullying keywords, clues and signs. The exploration of text will initiate the presence of cyberbullies issues amongst online communication
posts. This initiative will assist authorized agencies in create awareness about cyberbullies. It will disseminate the highest rate of keywords
for the frequent culture of bullies to restrain. Cyberbullying victims often have low self-esteem, depression, and suicidal thoughts that might
make the person miserable. Bully-prevention initiatives will be introduced to control and reduce bullying incidents.

ABSTRACT

Most information security industry reports and works of literature agreed that unintentional incidents occurred because of human error. This
error is one of the major distractions in the information security field. The most challenging in predicting and stopping unintentional insider
threats is predicting human errors and human behaviour. This research aims to understand human error taxonomy, closely related to human
error factors that pose a high risk of unintentional insider threats in organisations. Nine databases were searched using standardised and
adapted search syntax in order to identify the relevant manuscripts published between 2000 and 2019. This paper has identified and classified
organisational factors that relate to human error action. Fifty-two relevant articles were extracted and analysed. The scoping review outlines
human error factors and mapping with human error taxonomy to understand these issues. The identification and classification will help
employees and organisations deeply understand the importance of human error taxonomy and human error factors to prevent unintentional
insider threats and improve their information security.

Abstract

The electronic monitoring device to monitor offenders was implemented in August 2015 in Malaysia. It requires an offender
or a person to wear an electronic tagging (that sends signal through GPS) consisting of a strap, a smart tag, and a beacon,
assembled and strapped together at the offender’s right or left leg. This electronic monitoring serves to assist the offender to
re-entry into the community where it allows the offenders to have more contact with family members and maintain their
employment. However, these offenders would normally face problems re-entry into the community due to social stigma and
negative association the community has with regards to the offenders wearing an electronic tagging to mingle with the
community. This study investigates the community readiness towards the implementation of electronic monitoring to
offenders in the most developed state in Malaysia. All interviews were conducted on a face-to-face basis that involved two
groups of respondents which are: the civilian; and the electronic monitoring device project stakeholders. The interview
questions were adopted from Tri-Ethnic Center Community Readiness Handbook by Colorado State University. The findings
of this research shows the community's readiness stage level has resulted at Stage 6: Initiation. This means that most
community members have at least heard and have basic knowledge of electronic monitoring device efforts and are aware of
such efforts occurring in Malaysia. It is also recommended that in-depth study of the community readiness is essential to
identify the gap of the electronic monitoring device implementation, improve existing efforts and identify key factors for the
success of the electronic monitoring device implementation.

ABSTRACT

The exponential emergence of user-generated social media material increases the possibilities of tracking and monitoring consumer behavior
via opinion mining methods. Social media is a vital source in producing textual data, and it is also exploited in many other areas, especially
Natural Language Processing (NLP) research. In-text, Sentiment Analysis (SA) refers to the computational treatment of people's opinions,
feelings, and subjectivity. The outcomes of the SA are dependent on the polarity classification and class labels that are presented. The
various sorts of classifications that can be utilized are including binary, multi-class, and multilabel classifications. In sentiment analysis,
polarity classification is typically done as “positive”, “negative” and “neutral”. Hence, in the context of SA, Aspect-Based Sentiment
Analysis (ABSA) strives to distinguish the most significant features of an entity and use the information to forecast the polarity of each
aspect. The ABSA task consists of three steps: aspect information extraction, aspect sentiment categorization, and aspect information. Those
tasks will be merged with a multilabel strategy, in which labels are automatically assigned to specified classes depending on the text's
semantics. The polarity of a sentence's sentiment is not only affected by its content but is also heavily tied to the feature that is being
discussed. Therefore, it is worthwhile to investigate the relationship between an aspect and the substance of a phrase by employing the
ABSA technique. The main purpose of this work is to assess ABSA approaches on a selected dataset and then illustrate the result. A random
sample of 3000 tweets with the hashtag #sijilhalal will be evaluated and utilized as a testing ground for several possible outcomes. The
suggested methodology beats baseline methods in aspect-based polarity classification when measured by three information retrieval metrics:
precision, recall, and F-measure, according to experimental data.

THE DETERMINANTS OF CAPITAL STRUCTURE AND A FIRM’S FINANCIAL
PERFORMANCE IN THE SOUTH-EAST ASIAN REGION:

ABSTRACT

The theory of capital structure determinants can be formulated as a causal model (Chang et al., 2009; Titman and Wessels, 1988).
During the last decade, international studies started to appear investigating the relationship between the determinants of capital
structure and a firm’s financial performance from the perspective of capital structure theories. However, it is often unclear how
capital structure determinants (X) affect firm financial performance (Y) directly and how the concept of direct effect can be labelled
the “effect to be mediated”. Traditional cause and effect relationships let say X and Y do not normally consider the effect of the
mediation variable. Therefore, we propose a conceptual paper that specifically allows for this “mediation” to define the causal
relationship between X and Y especially from the context of economic crises. The South-East (SE) Asian region experienced
economic shocks during the Asian financial crisis of 1997-98 and suffered again from the on-going global economic crisis that
began in the summer of 2007-2008, which had devastating effects on the financial sector and real sector. Accordingly, this study’s
main purpose is to investigate the relationship between the determinants of capital structure and a firm’s financial performance as
affected those crises and to test whether there is a mediating role of debt level for such a relationship in the SE Asia context. The
rationale for this study is to add new empirical evidence by doing a comparative study in five different countries in SE Asia. This
will be the first comprehensive study to the best of the researcher’s knowledge; no study examines this relationship or the effect of
economic crises in the SE Asian region especially examining the mediation effects. The study sample will be including stock
exchanges in five different countries namely, the Bursa Malaysia stock exchange (Malaysia), SGX (Singapore), PSEi (Philippines),
IDX (Indonesia) and SET (Thailand) Stock Exchanges. The data will be collected from the year-end financial statements of 30
consecutive years from 1989 until 2019.

ABSTRACT

Crisis phenomena that affect the outcomes of economic activity of many firms in Nigeria, individual countries and the world
economy as a whole negatively affect the internal and external environs of business entities. They significantly inhibit innovative
operation, which in turn act as a catalyst for all activities. As a result, the innovation activity of industrial enterprises is reduced,
the pace of scientific and technical progress is slowing down, as the demand and competitiveness in emerging market becomes
challenging, the possibilities for applying advanced technologies are reduced. This study intends to investigate the extends of
managers utilizes dynamic capabilities to effect business performance using three criteria’s such as aptitude, innovation, accelerated
technology to impact business performance. Conceptual model is analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling and smart-PLS
from a randomly sample of 181 SME’s operators in Aba hub industrial city of Abia State Nigeria. Results showed that convergent
validity demonstrates the correlation between responses through various measures which represents the same construct. For the
present study, convergent validity was tested by utilising the universally established technique “Average Variance Extracted”
(AVE) (Hair et al., 2006; Henseler, 2009; Tabachnick & Fidell, 2007). Discriminant validity as well as heterotrait monotrait ratio
results were also established.

ABSTRACT

The tourism industry has been developed in various ways, including community-based homestay activities, in the rural area. The
community-based homestay activities include local people's lifestyles, cultural heritage, traditional food, economic activities,
recreation, and environmental preservation that attract the guests of rural homestay accommodations. Community-based tourism
aims to attract tourists in rural tourism, particularly their homestays, to experience the uniqueness of the community way of life, as
the village people have done. The homestay industry can also provide significant supplemental income to locals while instilling a
sense of responsibility for Malaysia's cultural legacy. However, the new generation is reluctant to continue and sustain the
community-based homestay activities due to the big gap in homestay income between the homestay operators and other industries,
which not consistently earned. According to the registered homestay statistics, some operators have withdrawn, and the number of
registered operators has decreased in Selangor. Hence, this study concentrated on community-based homestay activities awareness
and perceived contributions to rural areas' socioeconomic and physical sustainability in Selangor. A profound interview was
conducted with the owners of the homestays and the head of the homestay managers to collect data. As a result, homestays have
the potential to be both a pro-poor tourism strategy and an ecotourism tool for improving Malaysians' quality of life and social
capital.

ABSTRACT

The demand for the halal industry is increasing each year across the globe. Businesses are actively improving their understanding
of halal products and practices in meeting this demand. As one of the highest contributors to the country’s economic development,
the hotel industry is also not left out in grabbing this opportunity. Food supply chains are one of the broadest sections of the halal
sector discussed, focusing on halal risk management, halal integrity, halal logistics, and halal warehousing. However, the study on
transparency in the halal food supply chain is minimal, where the existing research mainly focuses on traceability. Despite both
transparency and traceability are inextricably linked, there is a significant difference in properly implementing halal procurement.
This concept paper will discuss the understanding of transparency, the impact of transparency in halal procurement and the role of
management in practising transparency. This paper aims to provide societal value by guiding the hotel industry or businesses in
adequately implementing the halal practices according to Shariah compliance, resulting in better food quality and overall services.
Further research should be conducted in testing the relationship between transparency and halal procurement.

ABSTRACT

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic had caused a stir across the globe. It was first detected in Malaysia on January 25, 2020,
but until that point, only a few reported cases had been found. However, by March 2020, Malaysia shows a spark in the infection
case. In curbing and slow the spread of the pandemic, many countries use stringent international travel restrictions, social and
physical distance, contact tracing, and quarantine measures. Apart from the health sector, this new and challenging threat
profoundly impacted many corporations and businesses. In Malaysia, 99% of the 920,624 businesses are small and medium
enterprises (SMEs). Within a week of the Malaysian government’s Movement Control Order (MCO) implementation, it was
reported that a 50% drop in SME businesses. According to the situation, the government starts to offer some initiatives to encourage
affected SMEs to sustain their business. This paper discusses the challenges and opportunities among Bumiputera SME’s food

ABSTRACT

Quality of life (QoL) has become a tendentious issue. The definition of quality of life remains elusive and subjective because it is
such a broad term that encompasses a wide variety of life domains and individual values. Premium quality of life is demanded
among urbanites. While Malaysian cities are rapidly urbanising, middle-income groups living in urban areas are encountering
greater difficulty in maintaining their quality of life. Due to rising living costs and the depreciation of the Malaysian Ringgit, the
urbanite QoL has been severely impacted. In addition, the urbanite QoL has been severe ramifications due to COVID-19 that have
spread rapidly throughout the world. About 20% to 50% of the employee's salary had been cut for several companies and instructed
to take unpaid leave for several months. This economic situation puts greater pressure on middle-income groups that live in the
urban area. The middle-income class (M40) has never known poverty, yet they might experience economic hardship if their
fundamental requirements are not met due to this pandemic. Hence, this study's primary purpose is to contribute the knowledge of
the quality of life that enhances the urbanite among M40 groups in Malaysia. Three dimensions of QoL, included health, education,
and family quality, will be imparted in this study.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 pandemic has impact on the overall operational in all industry sectors worldwide as various industry have to implement
social distancing as well as lockdown policy. However, Covid-19 has negative impact on the business performance toward its
sustainability. Therefore, firms are trying to identify various ways for enhancing their survivability in particular of the supply chains
which connecting firms with both suppliers and customers. Some studies relate to the supply chain implementation during COVID
– 19 are green supply chain management (GSCM). GSCM practice will protect companies against the negative effects of COVID-
19. This study is aimed to develop a basic conceptual model of GSCM as the effort toward manufacture industry sustainability
against negative impact of Covid-19. About hundreds publish literatures of supply chain studies and corporate sustainability reports
within the year of 2019 - 2021 were evaluated which resulting a propose conceptual model of sustainability for the triple bottom
line within the manufacture industry. The model integrates a resource based theory and stakeholder theory. The stakeholder theory
predicts that firm’s commitment to its stakeholders such as suppliers, customers and environment. Whilst the resource based theory
suggests that resources that are valuable, rare, difficult to imitate, and non - substitutable best position a firm for long-term success.
These strategic resources can provide the foundation to develop firm capabilities that can lead to superior performance over time.
As the result, the propose model emphasize on implementing of Internal GSCM which consist of environment management system
(EMS) such ISO 14001, internal management system (IMS) and green packaging as part of eco design. The recommended external
GSCM is by implementing Green Logistic Management consist of information sharing, logistics networking and transportation. In
addition of external GSCM, is implementing green procurement which more focus on social sustainability due to the cost of
underestimating frontline workers.

ABSTRACT

There will be more than 90 percent of SME businesses that are at risk of closing down under the Movement Control Order (MCO)
if it is prolonged, according to an official announcement by the Malaysian Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC)
Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on 4 June 2021. These companies need to pivot successfully in business to sustain
like the other 10 percent surviving during the pandemic. Based on past literature on catastrophes and unprecedented events, a New
Sustainable Business Model (NSBM) is much needed. This study aims to explore and investigate an effective sustainable business
model as an option to the current one. A quantitative research design is used in this study. A survey had been conducted on 100
SMEs business owners. A purposive sampling to determine the respondents based on directory of plastic packaging companies.
The survey took one month to collect data through google form survey. Plastic packaging companies’ dilemma between
sustainability and shareholder wealth is elaborated in the report and provided a solution. A NSBM Canvas with key elements is
developed according to the needs of SME. A NSBM on plastic packing companies using C2B is innovated as an example. The
data collected showed many SMEs do not develop business model because lacking of knowledge. This NSBM is designed to be
simple and easy for industries to adopt. The report explores, identifies, compiles and analyses the current sustainable business
model theoretically and systematically, to fill up the research gap of modelling a NSBM to enable SMEs to overcome the pandemic
challenges.

ABSTRACT

This study mainly focuses on market timing strategy specifically Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicator that includes both sharia
and conventional Malaysian stock for individual investors. The purpose of this research is to establish RSI indicator technical
analysis and to compare the performance of Islamic and conventional stock in the Malaysian market. This study utilizes data
collected from January 2015 until December 2019 on daily basis. Relative Strength Index is tested to determine buying (selling)
signal. RSI (14, 30/70) rule has been used for this study. For the performance analysis, the mean return, risk, and Sharpe ratio are
calculated and hypothesis testing using T-test is measured on the mean return. Besides, the comparison of the stock market is
determined by the F-test hypothesis testing. The empirical results from the Malaysian market show that the RSI indicator generates
a significant excess return. The implications of these results did not reflect the real-time investment since the study was designed
to give the individual investor guidance on market timing. RSI is applicable in Islamic stock with the same significance as used in
the conventional stock to time the Malaysia market.

ABSTRACT

Waqf is one of the famous Islamic institutions and has existed since the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and his companions. The
previous Islamic government has also implemented the institution of waqf in upholding the economic and social development of
the community. Over 1400 years ago, waqf grew exponentially as a beneficial system in building human civilization and the
universe. UNISEL implemented the botanical endowment method of moringa in 2019 until present. The Good Deeds Company
process and produce products from the moringa tree. Proceeds from the sale of moringa trees will put into the endowment fund of
the Universiti Selangor. In line with that, the objective of this study is to explain the role of moringa tree botanical endowment in
helping Muslim and non-Muslim communities in UNISEL Bestari Jaya campus during the movement control order (PKP) period
in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. The botanical endowment benefited communities in need, such as waqf kitchen, waqf health
and waqf school needs. The qualitative method by interviewing 150 respondents consists of UNISEL staff. The study results prove
that each distribution of aid not only depends on the existing zakat and sadaqah funds because the waqf fund can expand its role
in distributing aid to communities who need distribution aid, especially in facing economic challenges during the COVID-19
pandemic.

ABSTRACT

These days cosmetics have gotten mainstream among ladies and men all around the globe; however, the mindfulness for halal
cosmetic agents is as yet powerless. Inferable from the expanding interest for halal products on the world's market, numerous
Muslim shoppers feel dubious and unconfident that the sold items are shariah compliant. Be that as it may, very few organizations
in Malaysia can deliver beauty care products, causing Muslims, especially ladies who pick makeup to have constrained options.
This study is to investigate three essential elements: Individual Factor, Social Factor, and Religiosity. It tested any correlation of
these variables towards the use of beauty care products among Muslim University students. A quantitative method and probability
sampling technique using random selection in the Klang Valley. A survey was conducted on 161 university students from both
public and private universities. The data collection further analyzed using regression analysis to examine the responses. The
findings show that the most influential factor in halal cosmetics usage is the individual factor, followed by Religiosity, and Social
factor. The implication of this study will help to shed light on the understanding the present market circumstances of the cosmetics
business in Malaysia which in line with Sustainable Development Goal 9 to realize sustainability development in technology and

ABSTRACT
Tax incentives are an important instrument for governments to spur and reshape economic sustainability. However, it is still
controversial in what makes firms successfully granted with the tax incentives and/or interested in participating with the tax
incentive programs. Firms on the other hand may still decide not to invest in spite of the tax incentives because there is a greater
benefit to be had by not investing as higher investments may result in further write downs and tight cash flow. This paper critically
analyses firm’s characteristics that have been successfully granted with the tax incentives (TR companies) and found that the change
in assets as well as the change in profits from prior years are significantly different from non-TR companies. Further, the results
also show that in the year of tax incentives received, TR companies are experiencing higher expenses, as the cash savings and the
effect of economic benefit from cash saving and/or reinvestment in capital expenditure resulting from the cash saving has yet to
offset the tight cash flows from the investments. More interestingly, overall tax burden rate (ETR) cannot be distinguished from
those with and without tax incentive suggesting that ETR could also be a result of tax avoidance activities without tax incentive,
thus the effect of ETR by TR companies on profit performance is unobservable. Further, it is also reported that variation in profit
performance seems not to be very important determinants for the authority to grant the firms with tax incentives except if the drop
in the profit is significantly huge especially within those firms with negative change in profit. These findings provide an additional
basis fort the policy maker to evaluate the effectiveness of tax incentive program as one of fiscal mechanisms in reshaping national
economic sustainability

Abstract

Mentorship program that involves mentors and mentees is a creative approach to help mentees strengthen their learning and
leadership skills, fostering their academic achievement and inspiring them to develop their future careers. A mentor is an
individual who has proficient and educational experience and who is willing to put their effort into the mentee's self-awareness
and improvement, whereby mentee is a person who is advised, trained, or counselled by a mentor. The aim of mentorship
program is basically to assist students in developing their learning environment to the maximum which can help to improve
their academic achievement. Therefore, the purpose of this research paper is to evaluate the influence of mentorship program
towards students’ academic achievement in private university. It was a cross-sectional study involving 211 students. A self-
administered questionnaire consisting of demographic details, general perceptions on mentorship program, academic support,
and mentor characteristics was distributed. The data was analyzed using the SPSS software. The results of the study revealed
that respondents agreed that mentee perceptions, mentor characteristics and academic support have significant relationship with
students’ academic achievement. However, the study also showed that only mentee perception and mentor characteristics
contributed to the prediction of the influence on students’ academic achievement. Hence, the key to a successful mentorship
program in fostering mentee’s academic achievement is influenced by mentee perceptions towards mentorship program
conducted and mentor characteristics. Besides, an effective mentorship program should nurture a good relationship between
mentors and mentees and mentorship programs should be tracked, measured, and assessed.

ABSTRACT

Korea is the country that emerged recently as the top tourism destination in the world. Malaysia has become one of the countries
that contribute to Korea’s inbound tourism. One of the factors that caused the development of tourism was the emergence of the
Korean popular culture phenomenon known as the Korean wave or its more popular name Hallyu. The wave became famous
worldwide, which has influenced Malaysians. The Korean wave is the rising popularity of Korean entertainment and culture which
everybody is attracted to learn and involve in this industry. This study focuses on the cultural determinants of Malaysian outbound
travel to South Korea. This study aims to answer and explain three research objectives; to explore the extent of the intention to
revisit South Korea among Malaysian tourists, compare intention to visit between frequent viewers and non-frequent viewers, and
identify contributing factors towards Malaysian tourists’ intention to visit South Korea. A total of 186 data at 48.4% response rate
was collected through questionnaires based on a 6-point Likert scale and analysed using IBM-SPSS. The multiple regression results
revealed that discovered Korean culture, Korean cuisine, and Korean drama were factors that significantly influenced Malaysian
tourists to have an intention to revisit Korea. Subsequent comparative analysis revealed that the frequency with which tourists
watch Korean drama does not affect their intention to return. The study suggests that tourism stakeholders should seriously consider
benchmarking Korean efforts to promote Malaysian niche products to achieve SDG-11, which calls for preserving and conserving
culture to maintain a people's integrity and serves as a source of national pride.

ABSTRACT
The number of people who use social media has skyrocketed in recent years. This is due to technological advancements, such as
the availability of low-cost mobile phones, which has resulted in a staggering increase in the number of individuals who use social
media. Every smartphone these days must have at least one social media app installed. Teenagers and young people are not the
only ones who use social media; the elderly have also begun utilising it and incorporating it into their daily lives. In addition, social
media has the ability to disseminate information more swiftly. As a result, the positive usage of social media must be expanded to
its full potential. This study aims to examine the role of the media in informing students about the need to repaying their student
loans. The motivations driving media awareness, social media, and information literature are examined in this study. Following the
above factors, the study discusses the function of the media in educating graduates on how to pay back their student loans. Finally,
implications for future research on the role of the media in informing students about the need of repaying their education loans are
discussed.

ABSTRACT

This Covid-19 pandemic had an impact on more than just the economy. In reality, it also has a negative effect on students. If the
student is unemployed, the problem will worsen because many areas of the economy are reducing work possibilities in order to
cut costs. During pandemic Covid-19, the current study examines the influence of pandemic Covid-19 on graduating student
income and the ability to repay education loans. First, the study investigates the factors contributing to the difficulties recently
graduated students face in repaying their education loans during the Covid-19 pandemic, including graduate student income, cost
of living, and underpaid jobs. Following the factors mentioned earlier, the study shows the impact of the pandemic Covid-19 on a
graduate student income. Finally, there are implications for future thorough research on the effect of pandemic Covid-19 on
graduated student income and the ability to repay education loans.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY
PERFORMANCE: STAKEHOLDERS THEORY PERSPECTIVE

ABSTRACT

Traditionally management is used to measure the impact and success of a company by focussing solely on the financial bottom line
that is business profit. Nowadays, many businesses are keen to realize the concept of the triple bottom line (TBL) where the
connection among environmental health, social well-being, and the financial success of companies is crucial to recognize their
corporate growth and profitability. Although companies are aware of the environmental and social responsibilities, they are not
necessarily reflected through positive Corporate Sustainability Performance (CSP). Unless they commit to upholding an
environmentally and socially responsible issue, that is, to be accountable towards their business environmental and social impacts,
the problem of measuring the company’s performance on this matter will remain topical. For companies to effectively adapt and
report their sustainability performance, the implementation of an Integrated Management System (IMS) is essential that integrates
two or more Management Systems (MSs) of a company into one holistic system with shared goals, resources, and processes. Using
stakeholders’ theory as an interpretive lens, this paper aims to propose a theoretical framework to investigate the relationship
between the extent of IMS implementation and CSP practices of companies in Selangor, Malaysia.

ABSTRACT

In today's world, a degree of study is required for anyone looking for work. In addition, others have previously acquired a certificate
of completion but have experienced financial difficulties in repaying their education debt due to various reasons. Because of this,
many would rather labour for money than pursue a higher educational qualification. The current study investigates the role of
human resource development in improving public awareness of the importance of education and the need to repay student loans.
In addition, the study looks into several aspects of the Cost-Sharing Approach, including the Human Capital Development
Approach, regarding higher education loans. There are also ramifications for future comprehensive research on the function of
human resource development in creating awareness about the importance of educational opportunities and the repayment of
education loans.

ABSTRACT

Higher education is one of the important assets in developing a country. In enabling the citizens to get the opportunity to continue
study in tertiary education, the government and private sectors have jointly contributed to the financial assistance in funding the
students to pursue their dream of academic achievement. However, the pandemic COVID19 which started in early 2020 in Malaysia
has affected many students who are currently pursuing their higher education since their family has lost income due to its impact.
Quite a number of students quit their study since they could not afford to pay the fees. During this situation, the role of waqf and
zakat in redistributing the Islamic wealth can be seen among the major contributors in ensuring the students to continue their study
without any hindrance. This study aims to discuss the impact of zakat distribution on Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) students. A
set of questionnaires has been distributed to 201 respondents by using Google Form. Then, responses of the questionnaire are
analyzed descriptively by using IBM SPSS Statistics software. The finding proves that zakat distribution in UNISEL has played a
great role in assisting UNISEL students especially in enabling them to focus more on their studies and thus ensuring continuity
until the completion of their studies. Students are mostly happy with the aids that they received from zakat fund. Hence, it is
assumed that the role of zakat management in UNISEL should further improve mainly on the zakat collection so as to expand their
future role in helping more students to complete their higher education.

ABSTRACT

The significance and dynamics of Research and Development (R&D) towards economic growth and socio-economic development
is undeniable. The OECD considers it as the Holy Grail for global sustainability agendas and economic growth. The United Nation
Sustainable Development Goals 2016 (SDGs) also contains the same term and concept. Socio-economic development refers to the
social and economic development process within a country. It is aimed at bringing a healthier economy, good economic growth,
financial stability which cumulatively bringing societal benefits in terms of longevity, health, security, stability and happiness to
the people and nation. Socio-economic development is measured with indicators, such as GDP, life expectancy, literacy and levels
of employment The concept of socio-economic development is relatively new for Malaysia. It was first mentioned by Malaysian
Research and Development Classification System (MRDCS) 5th Edition and 6th Edition respectively. It is identified and chosen as
one of Malaysian Socio-Economic Objectives. Despite its importance, the term Socio-Economic Development lacks definition,
understanding and linkages with current and available policies. To date, it is still unclear, how Malaysia measures its Socio-
Economic Development. Very little lesson could be extracted from the MRDCS documents. The indicators for Socio-Economic
Development as found in MRDCS are quite confusing. Instead of measuring outputs and comes, the documents are more focused
on inputs. The article is proposing a more meaningful definition, interpretation and contextualization of the term. The proposal is
based on benchmarking of several international and local documents and mapping them against current major policies of the
country together with experts’ inputs. The research adopts qualitative methodology, the most suitable method to adopt when there
is lack of materials on the topic or area of research. It uses secondary and primary data. The newly proposed definition is more
outputs and outcomes based, relatable and suitable for the needs and requirements of Malaysia.

Crowdfunding refers to a method of raising money from a large number of people where each individual provides a small money
for a specific project through crowdfunding platform. To make crowd pledge and sustain the project, it is important to promote and
publicize the project on a large scale over the social media. Hence, this study explores social media as a tool to promote, publicize
and fund for sustainability of the crowdfunding project. In order to examine the impact of social media on the success project, this
study will focus on the project owner’s activities and connectivity with selected social media. A proposed framework based on the
sharing project campaign and social media connectivity is designed to predict the success outcome of a project campaign.

ABSTRACT
Waqf is an Islamic financial instrument that can be utilised in solving various educational issues in Malaysia. Waqf education
institutions are well-known for their importance in the development of knowledge among Muslim communities. Globalisation,
COVID-19 pandemic, and economic pressures on governments, including Malaysia's, have led to universities becoming self-
sufficient in terms of funding for development, operation, and research. However, the increasing number of students among
private higher education institutions (PHEI) gives some difficulties to provide enough conducive and better accommodation.
Despite the government form of grants and soft loans, the cost of higher education has been increased. In general, both parents
and students alike face the burden of ever-increasing fees to enrol in higher education learning institutions. At the same time,
the education institutions themselves also face increasing costs to operate and provide quality education. This paper aims to
identify the needs of hostel development in PHEI due to the impact of high cost living and pandemic covid19. The development
of the hostel waqf framework will give an idea about how to help the sustainability of the community, especially students
during the COVID-19 endemic period, especially for those whose income is affected.

ABSTRACT

Pasar Tani, known as farmers market, is an important direct-to-consumer market that allows nonfarmers to purchase locally and
often sustainably grown produce and products. Besides that, state marketing promotional campaigns are becoming more popular
as the market potential grows due to consumer interest in locally sourced foods. As a result, consumers gain access to local produce
and products at lower prices while learning about their food, local products, and how they are produced. In addition, farmers keep
some of their profits by increasing their interaction with customers to gain loyalty to their products. Understanding the factors that
influence consumer motivations for purchasing sustainable agricultural products would provide producers and policymakers with
more information to help improve economic development and farmer market growth. This study aims to examine the consumers’
perception of agricultural market products in Selangor. The quantitative approach is used by distributing questionnaires to the
consumers of Pasar Tani in Selangor. This study suggests that the trustworthiness, quality, and price of the agriculture products
significantly impact their intention to purchase. Furthermore, economic value, wealth, and income level are important factors for
consumers to choose sustainable products at the Pasar Tani. These findings are necessary to develop and maintain sustainable
agricultural products.
