Would you like some cheese to go with that WHINE?
The wine was good, the cheese was good, the munchies were good, and the company was
outstanding. The day turned out to be sunny and
bright and the 30 people who came shared opin-
ions on many varied and sometimes curi-
ous subjects. Hopefully some good new
wine varietals were enjoyed and committed to
memory.
It was the first day of spring and since it did be-
gin with a glorious day let’s hope that it bodes
well for the balance of
our activities for the year. Member highlight

Steve Logan, President
It looks like The North American MGB Registry 2012 National Car Show will be hosted by
Peachtree MG Registry. Our Board of Directors met hard and long on this issue. There
were visits with the Rome Convention Bureau, talks with The Dillard House folks by Dennis
DeLoatch, countless emails to NAMGBR by Tom George, a pro forma by Larry Norton, and
four votes on motions before the board. Everybody knew we were getting to the big deci-
sion, but it was a big step to commit to hold the NAMGBR show. The board persevered and
one more motion resulted in the decision to commit to host the 2012 show in Dillard. Tom
George and Bill Gillson will take the lead, but every member will have their opportunity to
have some of the fun.
Our club has not hosted a National event since the early 90s, but our experience in hosting
the bi-annual Southeast British Car Festival will lead us right into the process. It sounds like
a lot of work to me, but the enthusiasm shown by the people in our club members has con-
vinced me that this is going to be a blast that we will remember for a long time.
The weather is still hanging on to Winter as I right this, but our calendar is ignoring the lin-
gering bad weather and is carrying us into Spring. There is something for everybody on al-
most every weekend. Let’s prep them and crank them and get on the road.

The Navigators Seat by Larry Norton, Vice President
Spring is finally here and we have a large slate of events to participate in during the month of April.
The “Allure of the Automobile” continues @ the High Museum (www.high.org) and I’m told it is very
good and shouldn’t be missed. There will be an “Allure Auto Parade”, police escorted, from the Fox
Theater to the High Museum on Peachtree Street and then they’ll stage the cars there for a little
while. Participation is by invitation only and is first come, first served. Send a picture and a daytime
phone # to jodi.o’[email protected] and they will contact you if selected. Date on this is
morning of May 8th.
Chris and Poole’s annual Spring Tour is scheduled for Saturday April 3rd with details on the clubs
web calendar. If you can’t make it to Chris’ tour then the Georgia Tech auto show is also on the 3rd
and worth attending.
Cars & Caffine is moved to the second Sunday of April (11th) @ The Avenue’s of East Cobb and
GOF South begins on Friday April the 9th. Don’t forget our meeting on the 11th at Harps Irish Pub.
Brits on the Bay on the 17thm Legends on the Green the 24th and of course The Mitty @ road At-
lanta begins on the 29th and runs through May 2nd
.
A group will be going on Saturday the 1st and will be made up of cars from both the Southeastern T
club and the Peachtree Club. We have reserved a special culb parking area in the infield for Satur-
day and believe we have enough interested to get a free “parade lap”. If you haven’t already sent
me an e-mail with an RSVP please do so @ [email protected] so we’ll have a good count.
Get the LBC’s ready to drive and remember, I encourage your input and participation in your club
and hope to see many of you at future events. As always, thank you in advance for your participa-
tion and support.
Be Safe,
Larry

Member Car Spotlight Art Knights’ Mr. BEE
Art Knights has owned a num-
ber of MG's over the
years. His first was a 1964
green MGB which he pur-
chased around 1966 when he
was living in N.H. He drove it
to Minnesota when he moved
in1972 and had it for several
more years. Art eventually
sold it and bought an MGA
that had been restored in Cali-
fornia by a man who was in
the Navy. The navy guy was
getting married and needed
money so Art got it for a good
price. When Art was moving
to Miami in 1985 he sold it and
Mr. BEE was actually without an MG
for several years. But the ad-
dictive behavior returned and he bought a 1974 MGB which he restored with new wire
wheels, etc., in 1990. Art went on a lot of activities with the MG Club of Miami of which he
was one of the original members. Then he foolishly thought he was through with MGs and
sold his car and bought a Miata. What a mistake! That really was a pussy-cat car and it
just didn't have the pizzaz of an MG. So there he was in the late 90's with no MG. Poor
deprived man. Then the old longing (addiction) returned when a member of the MG club
said he had a nice "B" for sale that had been restored. When he saw it he was immediately
smitten. “ It was really a solid car, not like so many B's I had owned in the "frozen north"
which were rusted out. It had a new interior, new paint, new top, etc. So I couldn’t control
my behavior, I reached for my check book - Because of the color, and the fact that I was
allergic to yellow-jacket bees, it seemed natural to name him "Mr. Bee." So in 2004 when
they moved to the Atlanta area Mr. Bee moved with them. “Since that time I have had
some mechanical work done on him, put on new sport wheels and new tires. This picture
doesn't show the new wheels. His overdrive was also overhauled and now he zips down
the road like a proper MGB.” He adds that that one thing that has increased his enjoyment
of Mr. Bee is the fact that here in Atlanta he has a downstairs garage where he can store
his cars (he also has a MGTD) and work on them in comfort, having both heat and air con-
ditioning. Art says “At the other end of my 'garage' area I have a large screen TV, a refrig-
erator to keep drinks cool, a computer, etc., etc. I really enjoy my association with our MG
Club very much and I look forward to continued activity.”
Editor’s Note: Each month I would like to spotlight a member’s car and story. Please send your
story and a picture of your car to [email protected]. It can be either long or short, just send
it.

Wanted MGB GT - Thursday, February 11, 2010
Would like a late 60s or early 70s GT. I'm not looking for show quality, but something that runs
and my husband can work on. We probably wouldn't want a complete project car, but somewhat
of a project would be okay. Thanks. Beth Wallace 404-245-3786 (cell) or eliza-

Tools, Tools and More Tools!
Bring a group of MG lovers together to talk about tools and their wives will start the jokes rolling
off their tongues! Not to worry as this Tech Session at Steve Logan’s home was all about the
metal tools that are required to maintain and repair MG’s of all types. Beginning with Wrenches
(please note the little ‘r’) and continuing through everything imaginable, the group discovered
that there are tools of every shape and size and all are specifically designed for their torque
and maneuverability. Nothing like using too much torque and having the tool break midstream.
It’s also critical that the tool be of the right length and shape to reach those parts that are often
hidden.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, Steve kept disappearing into his garage to find
more tools of different categories to demonstrate. During these brief absences, other members
pulled tools from their pockets and boxes to describe their special uses. Of particular note
were the handmade items that Craig brought to serve very special purposes and some unusual
items from Barry’s private collection.

Pay UP or Be Shut Out!!
Hey guys and gals – If you haven’t heard, dues for 2010 are now past due. That’s right! If you have yet to renew your
membership for2010, then you are going to be dropped from the membership roster in the next few days. That means
you will no longer be able to access this wonderful newsletter with all of its great information about upcoming events like
British Motor Car Day in Rome on May 15th and the 3rd Annual Funkana on May 22nd in Alpharetta. Please don’t dilly
dally around anymore – send in your dues if you have not done so yet.
Letters with the Membership Application were mailed to all outstanding members from the last two years recently.
Hopefully, if you are reading this and were among those who received this letter, you jumped on the opportunity and
quickly mailed in your renewal. If not, it is time to do so!
Since we normally have about 140 members by year’s end, it is a bit disappointing to have only 70 as I write this. Hope-
fully, in the coming days we will actually reach that magic number of 100.
Just so you know, as of April 1st, we will begin to remove access to our web site of all members who have not renewed
their 2010 membership. This means that shortly after you read this, if you read it in the first few days of April, you will
no longer be able to access the newsletter or any of the other important details about the Registry’s activities.
Now, if that isn’t a bummer, we don’t know what is….
We would like to welcome our most recent NEW members:
George and Kim Jackson from Alpharetta and their 1960 Red MGA

Atlanta Collector Car Examiner has first publication
By Tom George
The first of many collector car articles for the Atlanta edition of Examiner.com has been published as of
March 12, 2010. You may want to check this out, as I will be writing about LBCs, little British cars, and MGs
in particular as well as other topics of interest to the general gear-head population. Articles will be published
weekly so check back to my page often.
Examiner.com/Atlanta is full of interesting articles about anything you might care to know about goings-on in
the metro area and authored by local writers covering topics of local interest. Arts, news, restaurants, enter-
tainment, and all things automotive are covered in many interesting categories. You can check out my arti-
cles at http://www.examiner.com/x-41256-Atlanta-Collector-Cars-Examiner. If you wish, you may sub-
scribe to e-mail updates for the latest articles or select an RSS fed for the same.
Future articles will be about upcoming events in the LBC and collector car community, profiles of local busi-
nesses offering services to the community, how-to/advice articles and more. Anticipated weekly publication
dates are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so check back often to get the latest news and updates. Of
course, if you have a comment about an article or a suggested topic, there is an opportunity for you to com-
ment to me directly through the page or just drop an e-mail to me and let me know what you think.
I hope you will check the page often and also take the time to review other articles of interest to you in the
other areas of examiner.com/Atlanta. You can find me through the above link or go to examiner.com/
Atlanta, select news and politics on the header bar and click on “Transportation” on the drop-down menu. I
don’t know what collector cars have to do with politics, but… hey, I just write the articles!
