LETTER FROM THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear USA Field Hockey Summit attendees,

A huge welcome, big thank you and special congratulations to you. By stepping forward and making the commitment to be part of the
inaugural USA Field Hockey Summit. You are continuing to play a part in actively shaping our sport and that is deserving of much admiration.
I believe our sport has the special power to bring people together, develop young athletes with important life skills and bring joy to us all.

The concept of the Summit is to unite those who care passionately about our sport to discuss, explore, learn and collaborate so that field
hockey can thrive. Our ambition is to do just this, and to regularly host Summit so that it becomes a forum where the leaders of field hockey
can meet to assess and respond to the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

We are delighted to be hosting the event in partnership with the City of Baltimore and The Lord Baltimore Hotel. They have been outstanding
partners with a wonderful venue and city located so centrally to the hub of our sport. Thank you to Tim Johnson and Lorreine Kokolis from
The Lord Baltimore Hotel, Al Hutchinson and Christina Ghani from Visit Baltimore, and Lindsey Adler from the Radisson Hotel. We also greatly
appreciate and thank our presenting sponsor, AstroTurf, for supporting our inaugural Summit and creating the AstroTurf Demonstration
Field. Thank you to our Welcome Reception sponsor, espnW, Coach Education track sponsor Harrow Sports, Club Administrator track sponsor
Sports Labs USA, Hall of Fame sponsor STX and all our excellent exhibiting partners. Please visit their booths this weekend!

We are privileged to welcome Denise Parker as our Summit keynote speaker. Denise has an esteemed career encompassing sport at all
levels from grassroots to the Olympic Games, and she is at the very center of what makes sport thrive. Denise serves as Vice President of
National Governing Body Services at the United States Olympic Committee and is uniquely placed with oversight of our 48 Olympic sports.
We appreciate her help in developing field hockey at every level and thank her for joining us this weekend. We have a truly outstanding
compilation of presenters and global experts in their areas, whose passion for field hockey inspires us all. A huge thank you to all those
contributing their time and skills to speak at Summit.

On Saturday evening, we are delighted to be hosting the 2018 USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame and Awards Gala. We will be inducting a trio
of outstanding individuals who have achieved so much in field hockey. Steve Danielson, Kelli Smith Puzo and Amy Tran Swensen are three
incredible USA athletes who had wonderful careers representing our country and continue to grow the game respectively. We are also
privileged to be recognizing Honorary Hall of Fame inductees Helen Allen and Barb Carreiro.

We are also proud to be presenting several new awards, nominated by our members and selected through People’s Choice voting.
Congratulations to Jean Lipski (Humanitarian), Matthew Kogut (Grow the Game),
Carolyn King Robitaille (Coach of the Year), Suzi Sutton (Umpire of the Year) and Windy
City (Club of the Year), and to all those who were nominated. A special thank you to the
Hall of Fame Committee who so adroitly handled their responsibilities.

I also wish to thank the USA Field Hockey Board Members, and Trustees of the USA Field
Hockey Foundation and Men’s Hockey Foundation who give so much time and energy
to supporting the organization. And finally, thanks to the staff of USA Field Hockey who
work to deliver so many incredible field hockey experiences, now including the USA
Field Hockey Summit.

Enjoy the Summit and thank you for your contribution and support of USA Field
Hockey’s mission to Grow the Game. Serve Members. Succeed Internationally.

exist outside of private schools in Loudoun County, Va. until 2006 when Dudek introduced the first youth recreation program. Her
ultimate goal was to have field hockey added to the Loudoun County Public Schools high school varsity sports program. Loudoun
was the only county in the 20+ neighboring counties in the Washington, D.C. area that did not offer it. Ten years, hundreds of
players and several school board meetings later, she, alongside several players, parents, coaches and supporters, got their wish as
hockey was added as a Tier II self-funded sport in the fall of 2016. Field hockey is now booming in Loudoun County and is home

league started by parents who wanted to give their children more playing opportunities because there were so few in Southern Maine
for kids to play year-round. Kogut seized the opportunity to make Coastal Field Hockey Club a non-profit that would make field hockey
accessible to the Maine community, regardless of financial wealth. Today, Coastal Field Hockey has 350 members, ranging in age from
