KITCHEN EQUIPMENTS
Learning Objective:

After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. Identify the specific functions and operations of the different kitchen

equipment.
2. Familiarize its parts.
3. Operate and use according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Introduction:
A kitchen utensil is a small hand held tool used for food preparation.

Common kitchen tasks include cutting food items to size, heating food on an
open fire or on a stove, baking, grinding, mixing, blending, and measuring;
different utensils are made for each task.

1. Blender-an electrical kitchen appliance used for mixing liquids and soft
foods together or turning fruit or vegetables into liquid.

2. Steamer
A small kitchen appliance used to cook or prepare various food with

steam heat by means of holding the food in a closed vessel reducing steam to
escape

3. Griller- is a piece of cooking equipment where the cooking surface consists of
an open rack or grate with a heat source underneath.

4 Range- A kitchen appliance use in cooking and baking.

5 Microwave oven- A kitchen appliance use to pre heat and heat food.

6 Bread/oven toaster- A kitchen appliance use in toasting bread

7 Pressure cooker- A kitchen equipment use in tenderizing meat and poultry
products.

8 Refrigerator- A kitchen appliance for storing and preserving
foods/ingredients

9. Electric griddle
Griddles are flat plates of metal used for frying, grilling, and making pan

breads.
