Adult Sports Programs

WHY PLAY?

Regular physical activity benefits health in many ways, including helping
build & maintain healthy bones, muscles, & joints; helping control weight
and reduce fat; and preventing or delaying the development of high blood
pressure. Exercise is one of the least expensive ways to stay healthy, with
one study finding that exercise can prevent chronic diseases as effectively
as medication.

Winter Springs Parks and Recreation is committed to offering a variety of
adult sports programs in addition to our youth athletics programs.

Youth Sports Partnerships

WINTER SPRINGS BABE RUTH

The skill set required for Baseball & Softball players is
unique to the sport. Players will learn how to control
their motor skills to achieve the results they desire.
This could include throwing, hitting, and catching a
ball. Baseball and softball players often times are able
to use their advance hand-eye coordination to excel in
other sports as well.
For more information, visit www.wsbaberuth.com.

FLORIDA KRAZE KRUSH

Soccer players become fit & create positive fitness habits that
can last a lifetime. They learn what it takes to be in shape &
work hard to improve their fitness. Soccer players tend to
become lean & have a good combination of muscular strength
& endurance.
For more information, visit www.floridakrazekrush.com.

WINTER SPRINGS BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Basketball players have to think fast on their feet &
respond quickly to plays that could change momentum
& direction within seconds. Developing the ability to
quickly change directions and have quick feet can lead
to success on the court.
For more information, visit www.wsbl.com.

POP WARNER GRIZZLES

In both Football & Cheerleading, the small margin for error
requires keen attention to detail from everyone on the team.
This same attention to detail must be applied by players at
school in order to participate. Pop Warner is the only youth
sports program in the country that requires participants
to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting
them to play.

Community Spotlight: Kim Coburn

Local realtor, Kim Coburn, has lived in Winter Springs for over
twenty years and has been very active from the start. Kim
volunteered her time by coaching Pop Warner Cheerleading
at Indian Trails Middle School and Winter Springs High School
for over eight years. Since 2008, she has been involved in
every Winter Springs event and in 2011, she became one of
the original founders of the Winter Springs Special Events
Committee.

Kim has been a big help with the City’s annual Winter Springs
Got Talent Competition. She spends much of her time
promoting the event throughout Seminole County,
recruiting members, coaching the participants, and making
sure the competition is successful.

Currently, Kim is a member of PEO, an organization that
focuses on the advancement of women through scholarships.
In addition, she personally offers a $1,000 scholarship every year
for over four years and will continue to do so. She also enjoys
organizing her annual coloring contest for the community
over the holidays where everyone gets a prize and the winner
receives $100. Kim loves everything about our City and loves
finding new ways to interact with the community.

Thank you for being such a great resident, Kim!
