How effective is Avast Boot

How effective is Avast Boot

How effective is Avast Boot-Time Scan
for security?

Avast antivirus has the facility to scan your device at the Boot -time. It means
if there is an issue on your device then, Avast will detect it while booting up.
If you have doubt that your PC has malware then, Avast antivirus along with
its Boot-Time scan feature will schedule a Boot-Time scan to run the next
time your PC starts. This security software will scan for known malware types
and also it removes the threats before the OS and other service boot-up.

We are here today to discuss the effectiveness of Avast Boot-Time Scan
for security. Boot-Time Scan is an advanced feature that is designed to use
when you suspect a threat in the system and usually consumes some time to
complete. It doesn’t run automatically or on a constant basis. All you need to
do is to schedule the scan manually when you need to scan it.

Avast Boot-Time Scan For Device’s
Security

Before scheduling and running a Boot-Time Scan, you will need to specify
the way Boot-Time Scan responds to detected threats. In this post, we will
also discuss the information about the general Boot-Time Scan settings that
will allow you to specify the scan sensitivity and the tissue types which are
detected by the Boot-Time Scan.

Threat Responses Management

To check the action Boot-Time Scan applies when it recognizes a threat, you
will need to manage automatic actions. When you use automatic actions,
Boot-Time Scan will apply the specified actions automatically. In addition,
when you disable automatic actions, you will be asked during the Boot-Time
Scan to choose an action manually for every detected threat or unwanted
bug.

To specify the way Boot-Time Scan responds to recognized threats

 First of all, open the Avast antivirus and choose Protection and Virus Scans
 Click on the Settings (gear icon) appears on the right side of the screen
 After that, choose the Boot-Time Scan tab and scroll-down to Perform automatic

actions during this scan

Mark this option to enable automatic actions, or unmark it to disable
automatic actions. If you leave this option unmarked, Avast will prompt you to
do every time a threat is recognized during the Boot-Time Scan.

If you have enabled automatic actions in the above-given steps then, all you
need to choose the preferred automatic action:

Fix Automatically: Avast antivirus tries to repair the file and if you aren’t
able to do so, then it moves the file to the Quarantine or deletes the file if
neither action is successful.

Move the file to Quarantine:Avast antivirus sends the file to the Quarantine,
where it cannot harm your PC

Delete File:Avast antivirus removes the file permanently from your computer
and when you run Boot-Time scan, Avast will respond to the detected threats
as per your preferences.

Run Avast Boot-Time Scan

After specifying the exact way for Boot-time scan responding for the detected
threats, you will have to follow the below-mentioned instructions to get it
scheduled and for that:

 First of all, open Avast antivirus and choose Protection and Virus Scans. Now, click
on Boot-Time scan tile

 Click on Install definitions, and then click on Run on next PC reboot to run the scan
while the next system restart

 Now, restart your PC when the system restarts and then, a Boot-Time Scan
progress screen will appear

For any detected threat, Avast antivirus applies the action specified in the
applications settings. In case if the automatic actions are enabled then, Avast
antivirus fixes the detected issues without any action needed from you.

If you have disabled automatic actions and then, a threat is detected then,
you will need to follow the on-screen prompts to choose the actions manually
which Avast antivirus should apply.

The scan commonly takes a few minutes but the duration depends on the
system performance speed and the number of files being scanned. When the
scan is skipped or completed the Windows will continue to boot up.

Here, you are all set and in case, if you are stuck then, call on Avast
