neuro-oncology. Dr. Lafay-Cousin and Dr. Strother remain heavily involved in national and international
projects that advance the care for children with brain tumors. Dr. Strother remains the local principal
investigator for the Children’s Oncology Group, our largest collaborative partner.
Dr. Tony Truong completed a successful sabbatical year at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Working with the ‘Cancer in Young People in Canada’ database, he was able to put forward several
landmark publications with others under review. The sabbatical will allow continued involvement
with that research group and ability to introduce local colleagues and trainees to a similar research
experience. Dr. Truong will now focus on the development of electronic medical record implementation
working through a dedicated position within Connect Care. He will continue to hold a clinical role
as well.

two different types of prostate cancer brachytherapy
will be conducted. Novel applications of US and MRI will
also be evaluated in the brachytherapy context. This
program of research exemplifies the multidisciplinary
collaboration of radiation oncology, medical physics and
radiation therapy.
