TV series has long been an important tool in promoting art, culture,
tradition, local and national way of life. It has become a growing platform that
can reach many audiences, contributing to the economy and related business
including goods and services and tourism, adding value and revenue to Thai-
land’s creative industry and economy.

The COVID-19 outbreak, throughout 2020 until the present day, has
severely affected the social and economic situation. Social distancing and
lockdown substantially impacted individuals’ daily habits. Within such a
context, digital technology provides a welcome source of alternative forms
of connection and entertainment. Audiences can watch any programs
at their own convenience. In this regard, watching multiple episodes of
a TV series all in one go has become a very popular viewing pattern. TV
series will undoubtedly be the other sector that will see a revenue boost
as a result of the pandemic. The Thai broadcasters should take this
opportunity to produce TV series with local content into the global market.

At this juncture, the Ministry of Culture has published the Thai TV
Series Directory 2020-2021 in order to promote the works of Thai TV Series
entrepreneurs. This directory is also served as a database for research
purpose. It is hoped that this information will be useful for the development
of Thai TV series industry.

Foreword

The Ministry of Culture, working with external parties, public and
private, under the project “Content Thailand”, has applied the third
stage strategy (2017-2021) to support film industry and video serving as
a key tool for creating revenue, building a strong society and promoting a
good image of Thailand.

In this regard, the Ministry of Culture collects information on TV series to
use as a database and publish it yearly in order to promote the Thai TV series
industry. The Thai TV Series Directory 2020-2021 documents information
of 170 TV series released throughout 2020 until May 2021, interesting TV
series projects, organizations related to Thai TV series with statistics both
in Thai and in English.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to concerned parties, public and
private, that have helped provide information for the Thai TV Series Directory
2020-2021. I hope that this information will be useful for the development of
Thai TV series industry, for entrepreneurs, producers and anyone interested
