Regardless of all the challenges faced in not being sent on
the required training, as well as relying on God and the
talents he's received, we were seeing the Lord's promises
come to fruition. In ways we could never even have
imagined. Growing up, Colin never excelled at school. In
fact, his math teacher in standard 7 refused to even
acknowledge his existence in class. Hejust scraped through
each year. When he eventually decided to pursue a career as
a mechanic, it meant facing those demons. He had to go
back to college and study N1, N2 and N3, which included
maths and science as well. And thanks to a wonderful
teacher, he understood the work.

When it was time to go for his trade test, he was extremely
nervous. Olifantsfontein seemed to be on the other side of
the world. And he failed his first attempt. Being so used to
struggling with studies, he accepted defeat. But not long
afterwards, he went again. That time, he not only passedhis
exam to become ajourneyman mechanic, he passed it with
honours. Never realising that those were all building blocks
to where God would bringhimtoday.

The first workshop he worked at, is where he did his
apprenticeship and it was also during that time, that he
qualified as a mechanic. He worked there approximately

8 years, before moving on to BMW. When he was given
that opportunity, not only did he feel like an apprentice all
over again, but we also never dreamt that one day, the
Lord would prosper him in such a wonderful way- like
only He canorchestrate.

OnTuesday the 11th ofAugust 2009, I wrote:

So Colin went to the BMW Top 10 Technicians competition in
Johannesburg at the end of January. Thanks to the recession,
there were no prizes for anyone. Only once he got back to
work, did he receive two letters from BMW SA. The one
congratulating him for making the Top 10. The other
informing him that he got top marks in the country for Best
Diagnostic Technician!! If that's not God "building him up;

The "King of Babylonia" (his manager), has changed his
attitude towards Colin quite a bit. He's even taken the time (for
the first time since he started working there), to find out what
kind ofjobs Colin's doing. After Colin came back for the Top 10
Techs, his manager said he's going to give him a R1000 bonus
every month untilJuly (annual salary increase month). When
July came around, God's plan unfolded even more. He's really
made the "King of Babylonia have mercy"on Colin. The R1000
bonus became a R1000/month increase. This equals a 13%
