Introduction of Mouth

In human anatomy, the mouth is the
first portion of the alimentary canal that re-
ceives food and produces saliva. The oral mucosa is
the mucous membrane epithelium lining the inside of
the mouth. In addition to its primary role as the begin-
ning of the digestive system, in humans the mouth also
plays a significant role in communication. While prima-
ry aspects of the voice are produced in the throat, the

tongue, lips, and jaw are also needed to produce
the range of sounds included in human language.

The mouth consists of two regions, the vestibule
and the oral cavity proper. The mouth, normally

moist, is lined with a mucous membrane, and
contains the teeth. The lips mark the transition
from mucous membrane to skin, which cov-
ers most of the body. The mouth plays an

important role in eating, kissing, sing-
ing and speaking.

Why a kiss is Some kisses are spurred by your sex drive

not just a kiss ? It’s no secret that some kisses are to-
tally sex-driven and far from platonic.

more your body wants them. For some, this may
be more apparent at the start of a relationship —
especially if most of your time is spent in a lip lock.
If you can keep up a steady pace of kissing af-
ter that initial spark fizzles, you can continue to
enjoy the benefits of those happy hormones.
You may even have a more satisfying re-
lationship. In a 2013 study, couples in long-
term relationships who frequently kissed re-
ported increased relationship satisfaction.

Some kisses are rooted in attachment

Does kissing burns calorie?

There’s no doubt that kissing, especially a steamy
make-out session, is a physical activity that in-
creases your heart rate, releases hormones, and
burns calories. It’s also one of the main ways
we show affection and love to another person.
While casually kissing on the couch can burn
about 2 calories per minute, using your hands,
making out, or even engaging in some romantic
dancing while kissing can also add an element
of friskiness and possibly up your calorie burn.

Sing Your Way To

Singing brings joy to many
people – but did you know
that your passion for sing-
ing can lead to incredible
benefits in your physical,
emotional, and social health?

2. Singing improves your posture

Standing up straight is part of correct technique as
you’re singing, so with time, good posture will become a
habit! As your chest cavity expands and your shoulders
and back align, you’re improving your posture overall.

3. Singing helps with sleep

According to a health article in Daily Mail Online, ex-
perts believe singing can help strengthen throat and
palate muscles, which helps stop snoring and sleep
apnea. If you’re familiar with these ailments, you know
how difficult it can be to get a good night’s sleep!

KEEP ON TALKING Ever notice how good you feel after venting – to a friend,
Why Oversharing Is Actually Good for You? to a therapist, even a stranger who was willing to listen?

The health benefits of self-disclosure should come
as no surprise. Interestingly, we devote 30-40% of our
speech to informing others about our own experienc-
es: What we did over the weekend; how that date
went the other night; or the delectable dinner your hon-
ey made last Tuesday. However, I’m sure we all know
someone who shares – or overshares – much more
than that. Therapists call this “self-disclosure catharsis.”

According to a May 2012 study, disclosing information
about the self has been found to activate our brain’s
intrinsic “reward” pathway, which may improve our
mood and lighten our stress. This pathway produces
feelings of reward, desire, and satisfaction. It has also
been linked to addiction and depression. Oversharing
is so addicting that the same study found that many
were willing to forego money to disclose about the self.

Experts also suggest that self-disclosure procures adaptive
advantages in a number of ways: By strengthening social
bonds with others; by eliciting feedback from others to at-
tain self-knowledge; by showing others that you want to
know what they know (“I got this on my exam. What did
you get?”). Our need to self-disclose to the point of over-
sharing is mere proof of how social we are as a species.

Even though your doctor may not be able to ad-
dress every issue during your appointment, he or
she will at least be aware of important issues to ad-
dress – including issues that may save your life.
