Colleagues,
I am excited to release our year in review edition of our “In the Know with
the CEO newsletter.” This edition continues to detail all of the great things
that are happening at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest. Please take
some time to review all of the exciting things happening at our hospital.
Scott J. Davis, FACHE This newsletter will highlight the construction and safety/security updates
Chief Executive Officer throughout the hospital in making HCA Northwest a better place for our
employees, our physicians, our patients, our visitors, and our community.
These projects are creating a great impression for our facility and create a
safer and more secure environment for everyone that comes to our
facility. I am excited for all of these changes and the benefit it will bring to
all of us.
This newsletter will also focus on some details on benefits and other
important items to you all as employees. We also have updates on our
patient experience and quality initiatives. I am extremely proud of the
quality care we have provided in our organization, especially given the
acuity of the COVID-19 disease and the recent surge. We have saved
many lives that were expected to pass away with their conditions.
Finally, thank you to each of you for your efforts during this unique time of
the pandemic. All of you have stepped up in many different ways
including picking up extra shifts, working in other areas, and staying
committed to our organization. Thank you!

COVID-19 Update
• Census – we have maintained a census in the 20s over the last week as our community is
coming down from the surge. Thank you for your efforts in managing this census with
our great work with discharges. Please listen to my call each Monday at 4:30 pm to stay
updated on our numbers.
• Community – our reproduction rate is now at 0.74 which is very good. New cases per day
as still around 5,000 but have been dropping nicely over the last few weeks.
• Vaccine – please make sure you have received your vaccine or completed your religious
or medical exemption form. We will need be in compliance by the end of February with
the CMS mandate on the vaccine.
• Staffing/resources – we are continuing to hire and bring in other staffing resources to
support our staff and hospital operations. Thank you to everyone for stepping up during
this time. I know it has been stressful for the majority of us but we all have done a much
better job than most organizations in getting us through the surges.

Safety/security
• Extra security has been added to the facility for 2022. We have
an additional guard that will roam both inside and outside the
facility to support our operations.
• We are still encouraging our employees to park in our
gated/fenced employee garage. We have had no security
incidents in that garage. Please take advantage of this secure
parking garage, it is really is a great asset for our campus.
• We are working on a proposal for options to gate/fence the visitor
parking garage similar to what we did with the employee garage
and will keep everyone posted as to what solutions we are able
to implement.
• Please continue to put your belongs in a trunk or take them with
you. Please do not leave anything visible in your vehicle.
• We are in the process of install a new HUGS infant security system
for our mother/baby units. We are excited to have this
technology in keeping all of our little babies safe and protected.

HCA Healthcare Medical Plans Now Cover COVID-19 Tests
All HCA Healthcare medical plans now cover over-the-counter, in-home COVID-19 diagnostic tests, including
tests obtained without a healthcare provider's order or authorization. The plans will cover the cost of tests
without deductibles, copays, coinsurance or prior authorization. OptumRx will administer all benefits coverage,
claims and reimbursement for COVID-19 tests.
Which COVID-19 tests will be covered? Coverage includes at-home COVID-19 test kits authorized by the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The most common tests include BinaxNOW™, Flowflex™, InteliSwab™,
On/Go™ and QuickVue®.
How can I receive benefits coverage for COVID-19 tests?
You have three options for coverage of over-the-counter, at-home COVID-19 tests:
1. Pay $0 at Walmart or Rite Aid: Go to a Walmart or Rite Aid pharmacy counter, present your OptumRx
prescription benefits ID card and ask to have your test submitted to your plan for coverage.
2. Purchase a test and submit an electronic claim form for reimbursement: If you purchase a test from other
stores or online retailers, keep your receipt and go to optumrx.com/testinfo to submit an online claim for
reimbursement. This is the quickest method for reimbursement.
3. Purchase a kit and mail a claim form for reimbursement: If you are unable to submit an electronic claim, go
to optumrx.com/testinfo and follow the instructions to mail a form and your receipt to OptumRx.
How much will I be reimbursed for eligible COVID-19 tests? OptumRx will reimburse up to $12 per test.
How many COVID-19 tests will be covered? You are eligible for benefits coverage for up to eight tests per
covered participant per calendar month. (If a test kit includes two tests, you will be covered for four test kits.)
That means a family of four covered participants is eligible for up to 32 total tests covered per month.
Do I need a prescription to get a test and have it covered?
No. You do not need a prescription, order or authorization from a healthcare provider.
What if I can’t find COVID-19 tests to purchase at my local stores?
You can go to www.COVIDTests.gov for instructions on obtaining COVID-19 tests.
Is there a deadline to submit reimbursement? Please submit your claim within one year of your purchase
date. Reimbursement will be available through the end of the emergency health period.
Can I file a claim for reimbursement with my medical plan provider instead? No. The HCA Healthcare
medical plans will use OptumRx for all claims for reimbursement. If you contact your medical plan provider, you
will be directed to use OptumRx. See reimbursement instructions for OptumRx above.
Will I have to pay for shipping if I order test kits online? Yes. You will be responsible for shipping costs.
What if I have other questions about benefits coverage for COVID-19 tests?

What if I’m enrolled in an Aetna HMO California Plan?
