Reason for applying for and completing work placement / experience?
To get more experience in different aspects of photography, more specifically the professional sides
such as journalistic photography.

Did the course/activity met your expectations? Please explain your answer.
Yes. Despite the stress that went with going all around the college documenting the events, it felt
quite fulfilling to get pictures of everything going on and more fulfilling to see my pictures on the social
media of the college. It was enjoyable and gave me a chance to not overthink my photography, as I
didn’t have to worry about the artistic things like the rule of thirds.

Please note three key learning points you brought away from the session.
• Journalistic Photography is far more stressful than I realised
• People don’t usually ask why you’ve come in to take photos, instead just letting you be.
• Lots of people don’t like having their photos taken.

How will you apply the information/skills gained from the placement / experience in the future?
I’ll use what I learnt during this experience in order to experiment more with different kinds of
photography in the future, varying from my usual landscape photography.

As a result of attending this placement / experience, have you identified any further training needs

which you would like to explore? If so, please explain what these are.

I feel that I may need to train my social skills further, as I found it hard to go up to people and ask
them for pictures, worrying that they’d say no.

Please comment upon the individual input of the student and how well they engaged with the work
placement / experience:

- Jack helped with our Heritage Action Days on the 2nd/3rd of March and joined our media team.
Over the two days Jack helped cover photography around the campus. His content has now
been used by East Norfolk’s Marketing team and our futures department too.

- Jack was really engaged and understood the brief and professionally went around to different
events to capture photos. Often going up to people he did not know this pushed Jack out of
his comfort zone and still captured great content!

Would you recommend this student for further work placements / experience within the same
profession? Please justify your response.

- I would recommend Jack for further work experience placements within photography as he is
willing to learn and help with anything you may need. Jack was always on time and was able
to shoot off with not much notice if needed too. You can tell he has a passion for photography!
