According to recent data from Statista (2022), the Netherlands is home to a population of over 17.1 million people, with approximately 5% identifying as Muslims. It is worth noting that public perception often exaggerates the Muslim population in the country. ISLAM IN NETHERLANDS The majority of Dutch Muslims have ancestors from Turkey and Morocco, but since the end of WWII, people from all over the Islamic world, as well as their children and grandchildren, have made the Netherlands their new home. The Muslim community in the Netherlands now includes people from Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as Somalia, the Balkans, and Syria.
