Our Mission

Breakthrough San Francisco supports young people on the path
to college and trains outstanding college students for education
careers. Founded in 1993, we’re a community involvement initiative

of San Francisco Day School, and one of two dozen national
affiliates of Breakthrough Collaborative.

Middle School Programming (5-8th Grade)

• 4.5 week virtual program in summer 2020 included rigorous COVID
classes in math, science, and English language arts; electives; community Emergency Support
building; and college and career exploration

• 83% of students felt better prepared for the upcoming school year • 60 Chromebooks

Finance

Breakthrough enjoys diversified revenue streams and sound fiscal management. Our
reserve balance at FY2020 year-end was $76,368; our endowment balance was $2,566,766. Significant
in-kind support from SF Day School enables us to focus resources where it matters most.
