Founded in 1993, we’re a community involvement initiative of San Francisco Day School, and one of 25 national affiliates of Breakthrough Collaborative. Our Mission

BREAKTHROUGH SAN FRANCISCO IMPACT REPORT 2024 | 5 HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMMING (9-12TH GRADE) MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMMING (5-8TH GRADE) • 6 weeks in summer 2024 and two afternoons/week during the school year • homework support and academic classes in math, science, literature, and writing • elective classes in the arts, STEM, and sports • community building and on-site mental health support • personalized middle and high school admissions support • 86% of students began eighth grade on grade-level in reading in 2024, while 68% of rising eighth graders were on grade-level in math • monthly workshops on topics including high school success, self-care, financial literacy, leadership development, career exploration, and more. • 1:1 tutoring as needed • support accessing transformational opportunities such as Yale Young Global Scholars • comprehensive college admissions support including campus visits, admissions officer presentations, personal statement writing, financial aid counseling, and ACT/SAT prep • 96% of students in our first seven graduating classes have enrolled in college

Training the Next Generation of Educators COLLEGE STUDENTS 31 1. OUR TEACHING FELLOWS participated in our teacher residency in summer 2024 74% PEOPLE OF COLOR a critical area of need for the teaching profession who graduated from college in the past decade are now working in the education sector, most as classroom teachers in urban public schools 3. TEACHING FELLOW CAREER TRAJECTORIES 2. PROGRAM MODEL AND IMPACT 100 hours of high-quality training and instructional support in summer 2024, including two-week initial training and ongoing observations and feedback by experienced professional educators. 88% of Teaching Fellows were more interested in an education career by the end of the summer; 100% felt better prepared to pursue a teaching career, if they so choose. 36% TEACHING FELLOWS

Breakthrough enjoys diversified revenue streams and sound fiscal management. At the end of FY2024, Breakthrough held $531,349 in reserve and restricted funds, and $3M in endowment funds.
